A great director? Spike Lee, at the least, is a thought-provoking one. But now Lee, who seems to show signs he is missing the limelight he once basked in, decides to pick on Clint Eastwood for the latter's films not featuring African Americans (specifically in Flags of Our Fathers and Letters from Iwo Jima). In effect, Lee is suggesting Eastwood must be a racist (and yet forgetting Eastwood's wonderful portrayal of jazz great Charlie Parker in Byrd, as well as having great actors such as Morgan Freeman and Forrest Whitaker star in many of his legendary films) for not including African Americans in the films, which is outrageously stupid. The fact is that Eastwood is not only NOT a racist, but one of THE absolute-best directors of all-time (something that the bonafide loser Lee can never hope to be). If anything, if the once-relevant Lee (who, coincidentally, lives off the stereotyping of other races in his movies) wants some attention, maybe he ought to again direct movies and stop being a bandwagon fan celebrity and official nuisance- who is now known more for his stupid antics and desperate attempts at trying to get attention during NBA games. I agree with Eastwood. Spike "You're a racist if you don't have any black people in your film" Lee ought to just "shut his face." This is clearly akin to a molehill challenging a mountain (the clearly has-been Spike Lee vs. the great Clint Eastwood). No contest.

I would write a comment but Jamie McBain already wrote what I was going to say. I just don't feel like repeating what has already been said.

He makes rotten movies and has an attitude? What more does a human blister need?

He's talented, but not as talented as he seems to think. Part of his talent is that he has an instinct for picking the best actors for his films (Denzel Washington in Malcolm X or Samuel Jackson in Jungle Fever)and they accomplish as performers what he can't as a director. Doesn't know the meaning of the word edit. Also, for someone who rightly decries the stereotyping of blacks, he shows no hesitancy about stereotyping Jews and Italians.

He's not annoying and he's certainly not racist. He's interviewed many white people and invited them to his films. ... He's a visionary artist whose films are spectacular (Crooklyn, Summer of Sam, She's Gotta Have It). ... We met at The Garden at a Knicks game in 1998. We shook hands and he politely autographed my book Best Seat in the House. Of course, he wrote the book.

I liked how he sued Spike TV for stealing his name.
