Leadership/Accepting & managing responsibilities 1

Hogwash. Balderdash. Poppycock.

Bullshit.

I've encountered all sorts of people who had phenomenal leadership skills, and were not only adept but superb at accepting and managing responsibilities, who had all the "good character" of a kiddie porn distributor.

The two things have nothing to do with each other.

Depends. If you step up to the plate and reluctantly do a job nobody else wants, then maybe it does. On the other hand, If you take on a responsibility that You know you can't handle, the honorable thing to do would be to step down. Also, you need to remember that real leaders listen to others and don't throw their weight around unnecessarily. A lot goes into being a good leader, that's Why so many do not live up to the Task.

Good character is defined by taking on tasks that others may find difficult. This is the true measure of leadership. It is accepting responsibility and setting big goals. Note that leadership is more than exercising power with the intent of controlling or dominating others. A leader must set goals that are broad and benevolent in nature. It takes guts to put yourself on the line. A person has great character when he or she stands up for justice when no one else does.

There are two kinds of leaders. (1)Those that step up because they like bossing people around and controlling things, and (2) Those that step up because they recognize the importance of a big project and are confident enough in their skills to try to make a difference. Leaders who demonstrate a wide, clear vision deserve much credit for successes that would be tough for a single person to handle alone. There are many times when a community needs someone to step up and be accountable for the success of an important project, and a good leader who takes on that risk can be quite the hero at times.
