I don't think this hurt Bush, but the Kerry campaign is trying mightily to tie Giuliani's comments to Bush. I don't think it's fair to blame the troops for such an incident. They just take orders from the brass, who, if these explosives were lost on their watch, should be blamed. As for Giuliani's comment, it was, frankly, very stupid of him to say such a thing. He made a good mayor for New York, but his mouth is going to really be a hinderance to his Presidential ambitions.

Twisting Giuliani's words is unfair with Kerry's track record (looonnnggg-standing) of hatred for the US mMilitary. How pathetic that this is a campaign issue and not the other candidate's Senate voting record, so clear and consistent. Shame on the Bush team and their message crafters.

Blaming the troops was a huge gaffe by Giuliani, but at least it wasn't Bush who said it. Almost never should troops be blamed. They are doing what they are ordered to do. If a commanding officer didn't think securing Al-Qaqaa was a priority, it wouldn't get done.
