The series wasn't competitive, and I'm definitely not a fan of the Red Sox. Since this helped launch the current trend of douchebaggery by bandwagon Red Sox fans across the country, I have to say that this has had a negative cultural influence in this country.

It was great to see it happen,I'm glad they finally won, though objectively, it wasn't much of a contest- and probably the least exciting one of my lifetime. The ALCS was much greater to see.

Talk about ironic. The year Boston finally wins the Series and it's the most lopsided one since 1966.

Unimpressed by Boston's tainted world championship. The series was boring: the Cards did not show up, Boston led all the way, got da lucky breaks; uncompetitive. ... This classic woulda been much better off had da Yanks and Astros met.

Other than the novelty of Boston's Reverse of the Curse, to be frank, one of the duller World Series I have ever seen (I go back to 1969). The '89 Earthquake Series and the Yankees Beyotch-slapping of the Braves in 1999 may have been worse. With the exception of Game 1, it just wasn't competitive. But how could Boston lose. After all, their centerfielder's jersey was labeled Christ. Terry Francona, a bumbling boob in his four years as Phillies Manager is instant savior. Meanwhile, the greatest manager of his era, Tony LaRussa, once agian fields a team that played poorly in the World Series. I am stunned that St. Louis went down so gently; maybe the Houston series wore them out. In some ways, not only did the Red Sox exorcise major demons in finally beating the Yankees in a game of consequence, they avenged the Cardinals after losing to them in the 1946 and 1967 World Series. I just wonder if Boston fans are now disappointed now that they can't share and commiserate in their collective angst now that they won the World Series. They are no longer enchanted losers, but now little more than a big-market, unlimited-shekels ballclub in the mold of Steinbrenner's Evil Empire.

Outstanding to see joy in Beantown after so long. 8 straight postseason wins to come back from 3 down to the Yankees to a World Series sweep. Who would have predicted this back on Opening Day? Now to see if the other shoe drops in New York....

I think there was holy water involved.

I think this Series will go down as the equivalent of the USA Hockey's 1980 gold medal game against Finland - important for achieving the end goal, but only a footnote compared to the epic series/game that preceded it. Personally, I was too drained after the ALCS to watch more than a few innings of the World Series. Not much memorable about thhis series in itself...

Not a particularly dramatic series, but immensely significant from a number of viewpoints. The first Red Sox title in 86 years, the longest post season winning streak in history (8 games), and a host of startling individual performances. To a large degree, the Series was overshadowed by the ALCS, with Boston coming back from 3 games down to the hated Yankees, three outs away from being swept, to an utterly improbable and thoroughly satisfying victory. The utter demolition of the Cardinals was the icing on a cake the Red Sox have been waiting to eat since 1918.
