 | zuchinibut (36) 07/20/2005 | I wouldn't have a problem getting pennies, but it wasn't why I went trick or treating. I remember one elderly woman asking my brothers and I if we were collecting coins for Unicef. I remember wanting to laugh...Didn't she know that Halloween was about the candy.

I guess you can't do too much with a penny anymore, except throw it in a well, and wish.

 | texasyankee (21) 07/19/2005 | We used to collect them for UNICEF. Like that did them anygood! Now everyonce in awhile, my kids will get this, or quarters. They always use them, but it's kind of weird to me.

 | kattwoman (24) 06/19/2005 | i guess this would depend on how many pennies you get. if its only one whats the point. if you plan on giving out pennies youd be better off taking your pennies to the store and buying a bag of candy

 | kamylienne (77) 10/31/2004 | It's kind of embarassing to admit that my mom gave out tiny stacks of five pennies for a few years on Halloween (Yeah, we were that house; my mom meant well, of course); imagine the disappointment on the childrens' faces when the pennies rattled their way down to the bottom of their bags and buckets. A friend of mine came up with a worse possible scenario--FOREIGN currency. I'd actually find that pretty cool, but I think kids would hate it.
