I once borrow this off of a friend, not expecting much.. i played it.. my hands were stuck to the controller, no matter how i tried to convince myself to 'do something better with my time'.

This is one of the best games i have ever played. I am a huge fan of Metal Gear games and this is one of my favorites. The only thing i did not like was not being able to play with snake the whole game but it is still a good game. I would recomend it to anyone

This would get a five, but Raiden is one of the most hated characters of all time. I wanted to be Snake the entire time. Also having to hear about Raiden and his problems with Rose was a real bore. Raiden is tolerable and the time playing snake is a lot of fun.

This truly is a great game. It has a lot of Easter eggs and neat things to keep you busy for awhile. The gameplay is very good, and the controls are some of the best I've ever come across. It's nice how they added a first person aiming mode. The plot may be a little confusing but it's meant to be that way. The whole plant chapter was designed to mirror the plot of the previous game (on the Playstation.) They've also added a nice Dog Tag feature where the player collects dog tags to gain unlockables. This is very hard to complete 100%. In short, I love this game, and it is one of my favourites.

The gameplay is good in this game, but the story was convoluted and confusing. Just listening to the ending boss battle was a little too much.

I'm more of an RPG fan, but this game captivated me. I personally liked it better than its prequel. True, you don't get to play as Snake for very long, you play as a new recruit named Raiden for the bulk of the story. As the game progresses, the reader is awed by its unique missions and incredible graphics. It's also got some extra features and challenges to it such as a way of holding up your enemies and stealing dog tags, special items such as stealth camo, and cobat with a katana, which I really loved. The details of the story get a bit confusing near the end but they somewhat terrify the player due to the fact that such things are possible. One warning, the manual states that if the player collects all dog tags in the game (which requires the player to beat the game on every level), he/she is granted access to a special website. However, the site was shut down in the middle of 2002, so all of your work will be for nothing. Don't waste your time doing that unless you love a challenge (and it's REALLY a challenge to beat that game on extreme).

This is my favorite PS2 games, and one of the best games ever made. The actual gameplay is not as long as most games, but the plot is very deep, filled with amazing twists. State of the art graphics and dolby sound, as well as Hollywood quality acting make this game one for every PS2 owner to get.

very well done game. i wish i could play as snake through the whole game. i don't find raiden very interesting. snake is a badass but not raiden. it was kinda fun getting the camera and taking pictures and saving them to your memory card. i went around taking pics of all the women posters. sometimes this game can be suspensful. the ending was precious.

hideo kojima directed it. that means it is just tooooo great!!

I would have liked this game a whole lot better if you got to play as Snake throuh out the whole game. But when you're done playing Snake you get stuck with a character that just isn't likeable. Simply put the guy is an androgynous little bitch.

Metal Gear was the best game for the ps one but now metal gear 2 is the best for the ps2 it has good story line which you realy dont see much in games anymore it has exellent charecters snake being the best the enemy AI is exellent the stealth is top class. i cant wait for metal gear 3 to arrive it's set to take the plastaion by storm again

Metal Gear Solid 1 was the best game ever for the Playstation now MGS 2 is the greatest game on PS2 basically because of the outstanding graphics and its extremely realistic, i agree sometimes it can get annoying with the long clips but doesn't really matter as the clips are also good and make the game almost like a Hollywood movie! Great game cant wait for Metal Gear Snakeater where you play as Solid Snake for the whole game:D and have to eat animals to stay alive.Long live MGS!

The action and graphics are great, but when you have 20 mintues of chatter between each fight it gets a little old- obvioulsy they did not have enogh mateial for a longer game so they bulked up on the talking - people say that the story is great, the story is crap, but then again anything that confuses 13 year old pimply kids is cool by me

I loved playing this game on different levels, it made it next to impossible to beat on the higher ones (which is missing in the bulk of "watered down" games). The gameplay was great, the storyline had some minor flaws but nothing major. My only beef is that the dogtag collecting takes eight years (which is good), but the rewards seem kind of crappy and pointless for all that hard work (not so good). Other than that, great game.

This game has a lot of good points. The gameplay has been enhanced, the graphics have been enhanced, the enemy AI is much better, and it is much more realistic. The only gripes I had about it was that i had to play most of the game as Raiden, not Snake. That and the storyline could have been better. Other than that this game is great. LOTS of replay value.

I have the demo, but not the real game and i've read alot of things about it. All i have to say is buy this game! Being a fan of Metal Gear, i have to say that Konami and Hideo Kojima have been working hard on this game. Snake has some new tricks and if you thought the first game was hard enough, then i advise you to be careful on this one. The guards are smarter and can spot you by your shadow. If you get hurt, they'll follow your blood trail. You'll have new weapons and they'll be much more because i don't want to give it all away. So don't be stupid, BUY THIS GAME NOW!!!
