The movie was obviously going to be more of a drama, and I was just hoping that they didn't try to make it into another Varsity Blues. It didn't seem like they strayed too far from the facts in the movie, and the football scenes were pretty good. There were definitely some tackles that have never before been seen on a football field, but what football film doesn't exaggerate the hits? As a current coach and former player, there were some unlikely situations and mistakes, but overall Friday Night Lights did as good a job portraying what its like being on a team as any other movie I've ever seen.

I didnt read the book so I dont know the full story, but this movie was dramatic and did a good job of not only showing the pressures to win, what it means to play HS Football to the kids and the community, but it also told an underdog story in a very gritty way. The Football scenes were well done and you could wince when you saw the hits. The ending was also very dramatic. This was a movie that had a little bit of humor and was poignant. I think it was much better than Remember the Titans and is worth Five Stars.
