 | drskeet (0) 11/01/2007 | As a traditional conservative (paleo to be more specific) Rudy is the balding male version of Hillary. He is certainly not what we need as President. To add, he is touted as the only Republican who can beat Hillary, which is not true. The reason? Since he and Hillary are very close on issues, that puts the debate slightly left of center, Hillary's domain - she wins. In other words, If you like progressive politicians, would you vote for the real thing or a cheap knock-off? There are much better choices in the "R" field.

 | CanadaSucks (45) 09/18/2007 | Planes flying into buildings was the best thing that ever happened to him. . .the media machine hasn't picked up on the ugly divorce, the estranged son, and the long list of things that make the 9-10 Rudy look far less charismatic. . .and there are more than enough people who have issues with the man even on the day that mattered. . .Rudy has his pluses, but the negatives (and there are more than people outside of NY realize) haven't been shown the light of day yet. . .

 | Silent7 (0) 09/18/2007 | The audacity of this man who dares to be President of the United States of America but refuses to address the concerns of the Latino, and African American communities. Guliani your decision to bypass both of these groups will cost you more than just this election! Thanks for showing your true colors, and your vision for and inclusive America!

 | convertiblesonly (0) 07/12/2007 | Yeah, like I want a cross dresser for a president. Wake up guys. Surely if the word gets out we'll really start to look at real CONSERVATIVE republicans to run, I hope we're not this desperate. But at this point I don't what's worse him or Hillary! Man is American coming to?

 | Solenoid DH (19) 09/23/2005 | If the Republicans want a good chance of winning against the Democrats, this might be their man. But if they want to stay loyal to their conservative principles, they need to nominate someone else.

 | traderboy (25) 09/23/2005 | If Quayle decides not to run (all indications are he will), then this is the only guy with enough name recognition that stands a chance (and a good chance at that). He's seven points behind Clinton in the polls, and dead-even with Dean, which makes him a player. His pro-choice leanings will get the fundagelicals' panties in a triple-twist, but the moderate swing votes he'd pick up might make the nominators press him a little harder (if only for the sake of derailing the "H" train). Would I vote for him? Only with a loaded revolver stuck in my mouth. I know too much about him and not enough about him, and that puts lines in my forehead. Personally, I'd love to see what a centrist Republican (isn't that an oxymoron these days?) might come up with in the Oval Office (if only for the sake of righting the "W" train).

 | musicprof (1) 07/30/2005 | In that he is more liberal than most republicans, I would hate if he runs. Our current Republican pres is TOO liberal as it is. Rudy would fall right in place behind him. Unfortunately, He is probably the on candidate that can beat Hillary.

 | Redoedo (39) 06/16/2005 | I'd consider voting for him in the general election, depending on his opponent, but I don't see him getting the nod in the primary. Many point to his good reputation as a result of 9/11, but as was proved in 2000 with John McCain, a man with a solid record of courage under pressure (Guiliani- 9/11, McCain- Vietnam) can be easily destroyed by a right-wing smear machine. Simply won't fly with the christian right wing that is dominating his party.

 | stolypin (3) 06/16/2005 | I expect him to be the next governor of NY, but national elected office is doubtful. Maybe a cabinet post? Then again, the governor's mansion is the best road to the White House. If there is any question about which party is superior, one needs only to compare New York City before and after Rudy! A few years back, New York was a dump: dirty, dangerous, falling apart, poorly run. Now New York is probably the cleanest, safest, most enjoyable big American city. If New Yorkers ever go back to Democratic rule, they are idiots! (Yes, I understand that Rudy and Bloomberg both used to be Dems, but their not now.)

 | CA4life (0) 06/07/2005 | First let me say I think Rudy Giuliani is a great leader, and a great candidate. However the higest office he held was that of Mayor of New York City, this does not qualify him to become president. Plus he is going to find it difficult to run for the REPUBLICAN nomination, because he really isn't one on social issues. He will lose every southern primary because of this fact.

 | James76255 (17) 04/25/2005 | Another guy I like, but probably to socially liberal to win the Republican nomination. However, considering his popularity, and the fact that Republicans would support anybody that could keep Hilary Clinton out of the White House, it's not totally out of the question.

 | RaterX (0) 04/13/2005 | Did a nice job in NYC cleaning it up, beginning with putting the kobosh the squeegie people at every street corner. Seems sort of small on the national stage. I think the prostate cancer and bimbo eruptions will preclude a run. I'd rather see him go against Hilary for Senate in New York in 2006 and see where that leads him.

 | Stephen C. Y. Pao (0) 02/21/2005 | He is an obviously terrible Liberal Republican with very admirable smart widespread public communications. He nodded too much to the Lefty Democrats. I worried that he will be keeping his most popular supports from the civilians inside the polls of the Republican Presidential Nomination 2008 while he is not thoughtful enough to unite the whole America. His dark side is going to disaster the future martinet inside and outside the Republicans and America if he became the presidential candidate or president. Like Arnold Schwarzenegger, Giuliani is being the both of the Republicans and Democrats, but Giuliani also got the bad marriage status. With his marriage, if he is going to run for the President, he has to go back to remarry his first or second marriage. But he is not married yet, just engaged to his second marriage. But I suggest he is better to go back to his first marriage and live with his two kids. With his looked, he got the bad hairs now. If he became the U.S. President since 2009, people will profile him uglily as tricky, daredevil, Godlessness, and ugly head. If he is going to run for the President better, he will better to modify his issues, personal profiles, and appearance in front of the cameras. The best President of the United States like George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Teddy Rooselvelt, Franklin Rooselvelt, and Ronald Reagan, had never made 50% of the blunt popular oppositions intentionally that causes the nation divided. I don't expect his victory in the nomination. But, if he is going to win, I suggest him to win the people from both sides from different perspectives he is an attractive public communicator like President Franklin D. Rooselvelt, President John F. Kennedy, President Ronald Reagan, and Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. But too bad he lost too much from his basic personal characteristic attractions when he is old. In the issues, I suggest he is better to negotiate with more Conservative Republicans, Moderate Republicans, Liberal Republicans, Moderate Democrats, and Liberal Democrats to do the bipartisan cooperation in the Blue States on the public issues he is far much a tougher communicator than Bill Frist and Jeb Bush. He is a Republican, he has never concerned he is more Liberal than the former Democratic U.S. Presidents like Franklin D. Rooselvelt and John F. Kennedy who were the Conservative Democrats and who were far much more Conservative than Bill Clinton, Al Gore, and John F. Kerry. The former Kennedysque Democrats were nice. In Texas, a former Kennedysque Democrat saved George W. Bush's life from the Vietnam War. The former Kennedy propaganda was come from the Conservative Catholic purpose. The former Kennedy abortion was to eliminate the future rates of family adoptions and criminal populations. If he wants to win both sides by the issues in the whole United States, he has to tie a common sense of the Blue States and the Red States on the issues like pro-abortion in the case of rapes, incestry, and mothers' life troubles with the babies, anti-abortions to save the innocent lives who were born with the innappropriate reasons, education of sex abstinance, education to avoid unwated pregnancy, and education to avoid abortion and save lives after the unwanted pregnancy that is approved by all the private Christian schools. If he wants to be more attractive, better to inspire at least 90% of the 55% percent of the U.S. population who are the bunches of the lovely White Judeo-Christian-Catholics and Repubblicans from the Red States while gaining 90% of suppports from the bunches of the Moderate and Liberal Democrats from the whole country, or he is going to be the second Richard Nixon, winning the re-election, but lost the two Houses. In front of the camera, he is better to grow more hairs and get little bit of the botox and more bit of the skin surgery. If he can do those I will rate him more to continue President Bush from 2008. I know he will be tough enough to disarm North Korea and Iran to drop nuclear weapons and dictatorships because he knows how to be Director of Central Intelligence Agency. If he becomes the U.S. President, the positive thing is that he knows how to strengthen the anti-mass-destruction U.S. weapons solidly and how to talk to offend North Korea and Iran while talk to them civilizely.

 | johnbob (0) 01/30/2005 | I love the man, but hate his view on abortion. I can't see Republicans selecting an openly anti-life candidate. He is a leader, he does have charisma, and he knows how earn political favors. But a pro-abortion Republican in the White House? No way!

 | Mr.Political (18) 01/22/2005 | He could probably beat Hillary but I question the probability of him actually running. In any case, I don't know if I would vote for him because he is socially liberal on many issues and I don't want to support something of that nature. Eventually, though, he does beat out Hillary.

 | PzKpfw VI E (27) 12/12/2004 | No, I have lost a lot of respect for him after his stand as New York Mayor. He just can't speak his own mind, he is attached by the hip to the Republicans. Oddly enough, I started hated him after he appeared on John Stewart. He was defending Bush and he look like a total fool. As I watch him on TV after that show, I lost all interest in him being President. No doubt he'll run and he'll play on 9/11 just as much as Bush did, and he may even win. But, hopefully, he won't, he'll be anothe puppet.

 | texas4cash (0) 11/23/2004 | He would be great in a cabinet position or as the VP candidate, but he is too liberal to please the Christian conservative wing of the party. If he were to run as the presidential candidate I would guess the party would place a person like J.C. Watts or Kay Bailey Hutchison as the running mate. Probably won't happen.

 | abichara (60) 11/14/2004 | Giuliani is a possibility, but there are a few reasons why he won't be the nominee. Foremost of these is his social liberalism on issues like abortion, which will hurt among conservatives. Secondly, he has a lot of personal issues. His divorce from his second wife and the affair that ended it will be a big hindrance. However, he does still have some political capital left from his leadership after 9/11. Although that can change in 4 years, a lifetime in politics. His best political prospect is a run for NY Governor, which he would probably win. He was a solid mayor who took an innovative approach to public policy, but I don't think he's electable at the national level, especially on the Republican ticket.

 | zuchinibut (36) 11/12/2004 | Already a national figure, with personal respect from most Americans. He might gain more votes from the undecided, who associate him with his leadership following September 11th. I would be interested to see how voters respond to him in the primaries.

 | jackblack35 (3) 11/11/2004 | Republicans kill me with their hypocrisy. You know the Bill O'reilly, and Rush Limbaugh stories. Republicans hate Clinton because he had an affair with an intern. Well I'm from NYC and Rudy brought his girlfriend (his present wife) into his marital home with his wife and kids upstairs in Gracie Mansion! The NY papers gave him so much heat that he finally had to get a Park Avenue apartment from a friend to carry on his affair! A president who's been married 3 times? Plus his first wife was his cousin! 9/11 has blinded a lot of Americans to the real Guiliani, we New Yorkers know what he is. Yea he did a great job during that time, but let's see what a national campaign does to him when the people in Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas etc find out about the real Rudy.

 | LanceRoxas (40) 11/10/2004 | Rudy is going to run and get killed in the primaries. I think he's a great leader who served New York City very well. He's strong on crime and for lower taxes. Other than that his support of partial birth abortion, gay marriage and gun bans will never get him elected outside of New York City as a Republican.

 | EschewObfuscation (61) 11/10/2004 | Odds on favorite after the '04 election. Has to play his cards right, serving as Homeland Security Director would help him enormously. A rematch of his Rudy v. Hillary match-up, on the national stage in '08, would be fascinating. Would contrast well against a number of likely shrieky, liberal candidates like Hillary, Dean, Kerry (interested in running again) or Gore (absolutely gonna run again). Would have an infinitely harder time running against a Bill Richardson or an Evan Bayh.
