John McCain, who's on the campaign trail again, is the only candidate to set a date for withdrawal from Iraq!

If this guy wins I am moving to Canada that is how bad I think he is.
SZinHonshu 07/12/2007
Dead in the water and not going anywhere (I suppose that's redundant). McCain is finished b/c of two issues: Immigration and Iraq. His chance was several years ago. When he is filmed now he moves like a little old man (that's an observation, not criticism). His recent downsizing of his campaign staff obviously indicates financial troubles as well.
CanadaSucks 07/12/2007
(Rare update) My first review was written before Johnny Boy sold out his maverick tendencies and started posturing on several obvious wrong sides of issues. . .sad to see a old man crumble.) Much earlier post - I'd vote for him. But he's not enough of a foot-washing, snake-handling, Constitution trashing Christian to be elected as a Republican. Too bad- he would actually be a good (or better) candidate.
irishgit 07/12/2007
Something of a spent force on the presidential scene. What once appeared to be a promising candidacy has been hampered and probably derailed by a lack of focus and direction. Toss in the age card, and you can all but stick a fork in this guy.
EdMcK515 02/26/2007
I used to like him, but as I watch his political manuverings it seems he is not the independent and straightforward man I thought he was.
Loerke 02/14/2007
Along with a lot of other progressives, I once believed that this guy actually had some principles. It was a delusion. McCain seems to have decided some time ago that, after getting applauded for some fairly courageous stands, he would do well to stand for Principle itself, rather than formulating principles with actual content. His gravitas has become entirely self-conscious, media-friendly, and hollow.
brittonhughes 01/31/2007
If he's the Republican nominee, I'll keep my vote to myself. There's no way this man can be taken seriously as a Republican Presidential nominee. I'm from Alabama and I've been hearing one of his choices for a Vice President running mate is Don Siegelman, former Governor of Alabama. Problem is, Siegelman was convicted of accepting money under the table during his term, and, oh, by the way, Siegelman is a DEMOCRAT!
LestWeForget 01/31/2007
He is a democrate in Republican clothing. Clinton and McCain should run on the same ticket, one female and one male, you decide which one is which.
RIAUSA 12/28/2006
I would support this guy. He is a war hero, a independent-thinker, a social and fiscal conservative while liberal on issue concerning the enviornment and health care.
ThatParisi 07/02/2006
I met John McCain the last election night in Phoenix @ the rally downtown - and it was the highlight of life. I was thrilled to meet him and when I shook his hand I felt that I shook the hand of someone wonderful. I heard that night he was thinking about running for office again... And I was all for it - until he spoke out on Good Morning America that he supported giving carte blanche legalization to all immigrants in the country. Frankly, his attitude is an abomination. It was the first time I felt let down by him. Now, I do not want him to run for office 2008... This is NOT the kind of leader we want to have and I am a die-hard republican. I just do not support him anymore and I never will again.
fimime 05/12/2006
Great candidate. War veteran.

OUT OF TOUCH WITH REALITY! "No American would pick lettuce for $50/Hour." What world is he living in. I would pick lettuce for $50/hr. That's 100k a year! What a weak excuse for wanting to grant amnesty to all the illegal immigrants. I will never vote for McCain. Heck, I think that I would rather have Clinton back in office over McCain, and that is saying a lot coming from a Conservative that believes in honesty, fidelity, and justice. GET WITH THE PEOPLE. WE WANT A WALL!!! Give us the WALL and then we can talk about what to do with our "migrants".
Facists Suck 138 03/27/2006
We need to vote for McCaine because these neo nazi christian mercenares suck. McCaine is the best man for the job. This we'll be my first time being old enough to vote and I'm voting for McCaine.
RaterX 03/21/2006
Love him. He is the real deal for fiscal conservatives/social moderates, with the 3rd most conservative voting record with the Senate. Also have to admire his ability to recognize and seize an opportunity.
USANick 02/11/2006
He is not a strong conservative which would be optimal, however he is fiscaly conservative, and this is our most desperate area right now in the GOP. We are spending too freely and I elieve that McCain would put a stop to this. I think that with Rice as his running mate he would be unstopable. His age may prevent him from running for a second term, but that would leave condi right there to assume the reins of power. My only headache with condi is her position on abortion which I hope can be changed. Other than that I think she would be a remarkable vice, and eventualy president of the United States. McCain has the ability to see his own party's weaknesses, and also call on the Democrats when they do something a little out of sorts. So in his defense, he can reach across the aisles. He is also great friends with John Kerry, who is an honorable Democrat. Either one of them would make excellent Presidents in 2008, they both agree on many issues, and stray from their own parties when need be on some issues. The problem I have with McCain is that Bush slagged him in 2000, and he (McCain) supported Bush even on the slanderous and illfounded attacks on Sen. Kerry. McCain is a war hero, so is Kerry. To stand by while your own party slags Kerry for editted soundbytes and untruths is truly the most haneous thing I have seen anyone do in any political campaign in years... and that shows me that McCain is not that big "Maverick" of his party everyone makes him out to be, but instead, with all due respect, he is quite "mousey." If he had stood his ground a little more, he would have had the opportunity to unite, with the help of John Kerry, both political parties. Then this ridiculous Red vs. Blue situation could finally be put to rest, and we could have two parties working for the American people, rather than continuing their attacks, against each other. Both parties are equally responsible... I don't care what side of the asile you sit on, or who you voted for in '04... Both parties are not doing much of anything for anyone right now--admit it. Sincerely, Mathew

John McCain is a popular Republican for the presidential candidate 2008. His pro-life stance gained many supports from Conservative Republicans. But, while he worked as a Republicans, he backstabbed President Bush's proposals and his fellow Conservative Republicans. He is more likely to gain more popularity by linking with the Democrats like John Kerry, Teddy Kennedy, Richard Durbin and Jack Reed. Isn't McCain the target of McCarthysm? When President Bush fought against the illegal immigrants, he took the Amnesty Act with Teddy Kennedy. When President Bush fought against the terrorists in Iraq, John McCain took the amendment against punishment to the terrorist suspects that blocked the U.S. troops' safety in Iraq. Who wanted this double-personality person to win the primary?
Repspirit 12/08/2005
Questionable hero, actually a screw-up who crashed several planes during training. Consistent back stabber with close ties to most liberal senators aka traitors in senate Kennedy,Durban, Kerry, Reed. Co-authored campaign finance reform aka incumbent protection act that made a bad situation worse and allowed convicted felon Soros have a greater influence and add more money to an already corrupt system. Wants to give baby killing savages the same rights as American citizens. Calls himself a Republican but actions prove otherwise. Cannot be trusted to do anything other than forward his self centered agenda. Candidate for president , I think not. The dishonorable sen McCain would be a better advocate for communism and should consider applying for a position in the unamerican communists lawyers union aka ualcu.
GenghisTheHun 07/09/2005
It's all about your ego, isn't it John? He is a bad candidate!
LanceRoxas 06/27/2005
John stood up and campaigned for Bush and by playing the supportive role bought himself the support of the Republican establishment. He's prolife, for gun ownership, balanced budgets and doesn't categorically dismiss all tax cuts. He's scored around 85% with the conservative union for his tenure as Arizona senator. Strong contender. UPDATE******Completely undermined his own chances by backstabbing Frist and capitulating to the liberals on the fillibuster of judges. He'll run be he won't win.
stolypin 06/27/2005
He'll be too old in '08, he'd be the oldest person ever elected. Also, I've met diehard Republicans who would vote for Hillary Clinton before they'd vote for McCain, he'd never win the primary. I also think he might be nuts. ---- Besides, senators don't win the White House, governors do!
CA4life 06/07/2005
A rare combination, a great politician, but an even better person. I believe if he wins the Republican nomination, he would become the 44th president of the United States. I had the honor to shake his hand back at a 2000 presidental rally, and that was one of the biggest thrills of my life. That said, there are negatives to his nomination, he has alienated the conservative base, and more importantly he would be 72 in 2008. He would be the oldest person elected President, and this would raise questions if he would run for reelection. Would he only be a one-term president? These are questions that will be asked during the election.
Jar-Jar Binks 06/07/2005
I don't see this happening. He had his shot to be president in 2000 and he blew it. If it wasn't for his temper-tantrum, he wouldn't have been so bad.
Leeor99 05/26/2005
He's too moderate
ledzep44 04/25/2005
As a poltician himself I would give him 3 star, but he is the only Republican politician I like. I would definitly vote for him over these redneck, over-consvertaive bible belt southern republicans, but unless the Democrat is really bad, I wouldn't vote for him over a democrat.
James76255 04/25/2005
I like McCain, but I see him as someone caught in the middle when it comes to national elections. He's to far to the left for the Republicans, and Democrats only seem interested in trying to use him as a tool because of the fact that he is Republican, so switching parties wouldn't even help him. I would like to see him give it another shot in '08, as that would probably be his last chance considering his age.
IndependentEle ctor 04/13/2005
In my opinion John is the best Republican for the job. Unfortunately I dont think he would pass the Jerry Fallwell/Ralph Reed liberal litmus test. He has also been described by Dennis Hastert as not being a Real Republican. That tells me he probably couldnt even win the primary and would probably end up having some beers with Giuliani, Pataki, Romney and Schwarzenegger in some undisclosed BlueState on election night.
abichara 03/26/2005
McCain is probably currently the most popular politician in America. He has a great story that resonates with people and in many respects is a natural fit for the office. Tempermentally cautious and conservative yet he has some progressive elements to his personality. On an issue by issue basis, I don't agree with him on some matters, but I think he would be an interesting President. As for 2008, McCain seems to to be positioning himself for another run. At 70, age may be the issue that ultimately may unwind him along with his continued feud with the religious right that began during the 2000 campaign. People admire him for his maverick qualities, which at times help him. One of the true few fiscal conservatives left in Washington; he backs lower spending in lieu of higher taxes. Seems to have a genuine commitment to reducing government, a quality lost on many Republicans today. Believes that global warming should be addressed on a multilateral level, is a champion of campaign finance legislation, which in retrospect has done next to nothing to reduce political corruption and, in my opinion, serves to restrict free speech. But that said, he's the most electable candidate coming from either the Republican or Democratic fields. Ultimately, I don't see him getting the nomination. The GOP likes candidates who are easily managable and McCain is too much of a maverick for them or the Democrats as a matter of fact. He doesn't have the money to win as an independent, like his political hero Teddy Roosevelt once tried. Despite his popularity, there are some obstacles that could and probably will put the brakes on this candidacy.
iamright 03/15/2005
If he was the nominee I'd vote for him, but not in a primary. He won't get the Republican base energized to turn out at the polls.
singsplatsing 02/21/2005
Hell yes!
patriot1776 02/16/2005
Just say no to the mainstream media's favorite RINO.
johnbob 01/30/2005
Certainly has integrity and courage, but much more than that is required to be an effective president. His political skills - ability to work with his own party - are lacking. Campaign finance reform, his pride and joy, is an assault on freedom of speech. I hate him, the president, and the Supreme Court for taking away our basic freedom.
ellis 01/21/2005
A little old for the White House, but he knows what he's doing, and I think he could take this country in the right direction
numbah16tdhaha 01/16/2005
Don't know if they would let him but it sure would be cool. UPDATE: This is the only person people on both sides can be heard agreeing on.

I had respect for McCain four years ago. That was four years ago. Prick.
Skizero 01/11/2005
he's better than most. but McCain's blind faith in his party, even when he clearly doesn't agree with them, loses respect in my opinion. he can't think for himself.
Jrklint 12/23/2004
Never will i vote for a 50/50 moderate.
PzKpfw VI E 12/12/2004
He is one of my favourite Republicans, and I hate Republicans. Not Republican enough for the Republican Nomination, to damn old to be President. I don't think there is any other person I would rather see as America's President, it just isn't going to happen. I think he would have done one hell of a job, 4-8 years ago, he is just too old now, unfortunetly.

In today's world, there are very few that one gets a sense of being trustworthy. Over the last four years, the American public is told via media one thing one day, and the next day the story changes. We are all living through one of the most unsettling, and unpredictable times of US history. I simply can not envision one other individual who restore dignity, trust, and honor back to our nation. If I've heard it once out on the streets, I've heard it a thousand times...I wish John McCain were our president. Once in a department store, a clerk who was an elderly lady actually had tears in her eyes when she said once again, John McCain should be our president. I know there are many unhappy with McCain stumping for Bush given how Bush trashed McCain and his family with lies during the 2000 campaign. I was. And we certainly got another sampling of what the Bush machinery are capable of during this election. BUT, understand that in Washington, you have to play certain games you don't like if you are going to beat the system. Please understand regarding McCain stumping for Bush; that its like survival in a sense. Sometimes you just have to eat worms. This man, John McCain, has more honor, credibility, and love of his nation then most of Washington collectively. And yet his humbleness is unmatched. He has been to hell and back as a POW during Vietnam, and has come back with great and tireless effort to retain and restore the democratic ideals of our great nation that benefit all, not just a select few. This personal website just gives short bio of McCain, but anyone is welcome to use it or part of it, or simply pass it on, please. http://members.acsworld.net/acrediblepresident/

Liked him in 2000 and then saw he is no rebel but just another fall in line kiss-up. After what Bush and Rove did to him in South Carolina he has to be a jerk to go stand next to Bush. McCain thinks he has gain the right for 2008 to be his turn. Watch Bush stab him in the back and support anyone else. Probably Jeb. Bush gives him 1 star too. In S. Carolina Rove said McCain is no hero cause he had no choice in his beatings. Rove like Bush was no where near Vietnam. Also Said McCain had an illegitimate black daughter. McCain has a black daughter that is adopted. Who cares either way. I'd settle for a sinner who can balance a budget and not invade the wrong county.

Goes a bit weird at times. Hot head that is too easly drawn off message. Extremist dominated party will never allow him to be candidate.
letshaveanothe rBush 11/18/2004
He'll be too old (72-oldest president ever) and is too far to the left to be a strong candidate.
Solenoid DH 11/15/2004
Maybe Harold Stassen could run again. LOL
synapse 11/13/2004
He'd be a little old to run in 2008 - older than Reagan at the same point. But, McCain would be terrific for the Republicans. He'd get a lot of votes in the southwest, and might even be able to capture California. He's a moderate, and there would be a lot of Democratic cross-over vote for him. He's done a tremendous amount of good for the state of Arizona.
zuchinibut 11/12/2004
Received a write in vote from myself during the 2004 election, so I no doubt would vote for him in 2008 if he was on the ballot. He is a moderate Republican who has a lot of respect from people with middle of the road political stances. I think he would be wise to run again in 2008, because regardles of whether or not he is nominated for the party's candidate, I think he can have a positive effect on the election.
texas4cash 11/12/2004
McCain was a good candidate in 2000. He is a fair and honest man. However, he is too left in the Republican party to appeal to the conservative base of the Republican party. President Bush won nearly 60 million votes and the majority are Christian conservatives. McCain will have a hard time reaching them. He would be better as a VP candidate. Also, he has switched many times in the last year considering he toyed with the idea of accepting the VP spot for the Democrats. The base of the Republican party, like me, won't forget that.
Bonniebell 11/11/2004
I like John McCain,he was a republican and HAD to back Bush,he was between a rock and a hard place in this campaign. If an independent ever had a chance to win, that would be a good ticket for him.
sfalconer 11/11/2004
Senator McCain would make a great candidate with broad appeal but his age and health will be a factor. There is no dought that he should and will have great influence on who the GOP selects.
jakemr33 11/11/2004
I would most likely vote for McCain if he ran in 2008 because he is a more moderate Republican. But I hear he has a serious skin condition and he is getting pretty old so it would seem unlikely that he would run in '08
