Who the hell put this guy up? He is so not going to run. He was only a congressman from New York that was defeated by Hillary Clinton. He would no doubt lose his home state. He is not presidental material in any way. As a Democrat, I'd like to see this guy run. Then we could run Hillary and she would beat him AGAIN by a massive landslide. And he's been off the radar for too long. The main reason he's known is becasue he lost to Hillary, which is no advantage. This would be like the Democrats running Ann Richards (Texas Governor defeated by George W. Bush). Not a chance.

Why Rick Lazio? He would have automatically become a big name in the party had he been able to beat back Hillary Clinton in the 2000 NY Senate Race. Now he seems fated to political obscurity. And despite NY's more Democratic tendencies, I believe that it could have been a winnable race for Lazio, he had the money and organization to do it. However his campaign didn't make best use of it. Why nominate this guy then in the face of all this?

The guy lost in his home state of New York to the face of liberalism. Not a chance.

His main claim to fame was his loss to Hillary (he'll be the answer to a great trivia question once she gets swamped running for the presidency) in the race for US Senate, after Rudy Giuliani dropped out of the race, in an effort to fight cancer. Rick has been a fairly consistent conservative, as much as can be expected in NY, but has largely served unspectacularly. It'll take a miracle for him to even be a preliminary candidate for president any time in the future.
