A so-so QB on strong OU teams-seems more like a likely Heisman trophy winner than president!

A stand-up guy and, for the most part, a true conservative. Two reasons why he is not a favorite of the current GOP power structure.

Took too many hits in the head as a football player. Poses as a stand-up "character" guy but sounds as dumb as a brick when he opens his mouth, spouting idiotic platitudes that he steals from his favorite organization, Boy Scouts of America. This guy can't even get the upper hand on Alan Colmes in a discussion, so I can't imagine him in a presidential debate.

watts would be a first rate conservative candidate but he'll never do it...doesn't want to put his family thru the rigors of a national campaign...look for him to run for guvnah of oklahoma if henry wins re-election (god help us)

I like it, I couldn't put a face with the name. When I saw his picute, yes, I remember him. He needs to run as vice president! I think we would win!

Awesome man, here! I've had the occassion to meet his twice - both in non-political situations. Once at a football game, and once at a church. This guy's the real deal.

It is time for a trully conservative ticket. Bush has made me pray for a third party of substance. The only racism is coming from blacks you keep it alive for their own pocketbook. He could help the racism from the blacks with his non-racist views.

A major political figure who publicly refers to Jesse Jackson as " ... a race hustling poverty pimp" has already won me over. If he wants to add tax reductions to his platform, I'll campaign for him. Any mention of of turning public education over to the private sector would leave me no choice but to sell a kidney or lung to help finance his bid for the White House.

Great! This is a very intelligent politican. When asked if he was running in '08, he laughs uncomfortably and says he hadn't thought of it -- in other words, he's running for sure! He should run for governor of Oklahoma - then get elected president from there, as most presidents are former governors. --- Anyone who says a black man could not win in the South has never been to the South. I've lived all over, and while Yankee elitist many not believe this, I feel that Southerners (ones under 45 anyway) are less racist than in other parts of the country, primarily because there is so much integration in the South. There aren't any African Americans in rural parts of New England or the Midwest, after all. There have not been any black Republicans elected from the South because until recently there haven't been many black Republicans. There is a possiblity that both Tennessee and Maryland will have black Republican senators after '06. Ohio may have a black Republican governor after next election, and Southern Ohio is not unlike much of the upper South. Black Republicans have done well in Congressional races in North Carolina. As more blacks enter the middle class, more will become Republicans, and within a generation there will be a black Republican in the White House, hopefully JC Watts or Condi Rice.

I would like to see it, but maybe as a VP candidate first, or as stolypin, said run for Governor of Oklahoma.

Another Howard Dean in the Black Republican. Very objective, professionally thoughtful, and socially charming. He can be considered to run for the President in 2016 or 2020 to challenge the future Obama for President or Vice-President that helps to inspire more votes from moderate and liberal Democrats if he can take off the Governor and Senate from now to next 12 to 16 years.

I agree with PBeavr. He is smart, ambitious, and very electible for the House or Senate, but not president. Not nationally known enough, but stranger things have happened. Carter was on unknown and he won over an incumbent. Conservative and that would help with the base, and African-American would help with independents and moderate Democrats.

Watts hasn't really been in the public eye for the past few years, so I doubt that he'll be running in 4 years. Maybe if he had made a run of the Senate or Governor, he would have had a decent shot.

This is a stronger possibility than some may initially think. Don't rule JC out.

Yeah right. This is the Republican Party we're talking about here. You have seen a picture of Watts haven't you?

Not much chance because he has not buddied (is that a verb?) up to the Bush Administration up until now. If he lands a prominent job in Bush's 2nd term, he has the potential to become a player not in '08, but sometime. He would need to pay his dues.
