Hell could freeze and Buchanan would still not get the Republican nomination. He is for common sense, fair trade practices. Further, he does not believe that the US military should be used as the world's policemen. That rules him out with neocons. Then, of course, you have morons on the left who parrot their media masters and call him a "bigot". Keep up the good work Pat.

Not unless the party brass has a collective brain fart. Unelectable.

His rationale and stance on free trade irk me to no end. Otherwise, he's a pretty decent and thoughtful guy as far as politicians go.

So if he is elected will we have to do that old German salute, zeig hile?

Pat Buchanan stands for too many things that the Democrats stand for and could never be nominated. 1. He is against the war in Iraq. 2. He wants to reduce the size of the military. 3. He is for saving saving American industrial and manufacturing (i.e. union) jobs. 4. He is against NAFTA, CAFTA, etc. 5. He is for some kind of just wage scale. 6. He thinks America is too imperialistic. etc., etc.

I like a lot of what he has said and I never really believed he was an anti-Semite, however, he is too far overboard on a couple issues that would prevent me from voting for him. When he says we have to protect our nation's borders from illegal immigrants, I find myself in agreement. But when he says we should have a 10 year moratorium on ALL immigration, I cannot say he is right. Trade protectionism to get equal trading rights from emerging and other prosperous nations: Good. Pulling out of Iraq and the rest of the Middle East: Bad. In theory, Pat Buchanan would be leader of the free world and leader of the Republican Party. IMO, I believe a good Republican must understand and appreciate that what we are doing (jamming Western society and values down the throats of a bunch of Middle Ages-oriented savages who have been largely uncooperative for most of the 20th Century) is good, right, overdue and necessary. Since he doesn't, I couldn't cast my vote for him.

Pat Buchanan would be an extremely good presidential candidate. Sure, he's slightly radical, but at least he's decisive and will speak his mind, even if no one else agrees with him.

You may not like him personally, but he is Dead Right about immigration and trade. He would be a great HHS secretary

Pat Buchanan is an intelligent man who has worked in the Nixon and Reagan administrations. However, he is on the extreme right. He is so far right he excludes most moderate Republicans, centrist Democrats, and nearly all independents. No worry though, he's tried two or three times to get the nomination and hasn't acheived yet.

He'd have the votes of the people who got Bush elected.
