Some don't like.. but he is an Oaklawn legend

Terry is not in the big leagues when it comes to race announcing. I frequent Oaklawn during racing season and do not listen to Terry.

A few years ago the tractor that pulls the starting gate off the track broke its transmission. This happened on the front stretch and Terry was oblivious to what was happening. The horses were heading down the stretch and Calvin Borel started slowing his lead horse down and motioning to the other riders of the starting gate across the track. Terry did not have a clue until most of the horses started slowing down and going to the outside of the track.

The worst was his call of the nationally televised Arkansas Derby when he had the wrong horse leading until he got to the line. This seems to be a recurring problem for Terry.

How does this guy keep a job? He has been horrible since I was small child!

He's weirdly obnoxious. I say that as 90% of the time he is obnoxious, 10% he is not. It varies from day to day. I thought it was me, but I heard replays of calls from 2 different days on the same day, and one was obnoxious and the other was not. Strange. I do somewhat like his line The short stretch of the mile run. Too bad it only applies to Oaklawn.
