R.I.P., Luke was one of the best and would of been one of the great ones of all time, I really miss his race calls!

I knew Luke. We attended UofA Race Track Mgt Classes together. He talked of all he wished to do in racing and then went out and exceeded his goals. I loved the crackle in his voice, distinct, edgy, deep, but rythmic. He mixed that gift with knack for detail and drama to rise to the very top of his game. I so looked forward to Dave Johnson passing the baton to Luke for televised Derby calls, but not to be. Many go to soon...there better be pegasus racing in heaven...I'd like to hear him call a winner in a head bob finish. PK, RTIP 87.

A classic race caller. Nice to hear someone that calls the races in a more traditional way. Wouls like to give him 4 1/2 stars if i could have...

Clean ultra accurate call, and did a great job his one season at Hollywood Park before Churchill hired him away. I know Turf Paradise is where he started, but his great talent is surreal calling a race there now, when he calls all those Grade 1 races at Churchill.

Haven't heard a lot of him so I'm probably a little harsh... Not my cup of tea in an announcer..

Very solid announcer, who is young and only going to get better. It is quite an honor to call the Derby every year and he deserves it.
