In this book the author draws an interesting comparison between Jesus and Muhammad. The author was a muslim scholar until he perceived that Islam contains too many unsolvable contradictions. Then he became a Christian out of conviction, though he was threatened to be killed by the hands of his own father and persecuted by the Islamic society. He had to flee abroad and start a new existence. Therefore he was true and his report is reliable. About this is the first part of the book. Since he acknowledged both religions by practical exercise but also as a scholar, he possesses excellent qualifications to be able to compare both religions. He did this well. You will be surprised. He is not reproachful! It is hardly very difficult to perform the comparison, because two religion founders more different cannot be found. On one side there is Muhammad, who received his teachings from an angel, on the other side there is Jesus, who said himself to be son of man and son of God in one and to be so much connected with God, the father, that his words and deeds are like the words and deeds of the father. The author opposes always verses from the Quran or statements of the Hadiths to verses from the Bible. In what do the messages differ? The author explains that Muhammad preached a martial teaching whereas Jesus preached to love the neighbour and even the enemies. What about healings and miracles? What about prayers? How is the attitude towards the women? Which are the parallels? For everything you get informative statements. If any doubts arise just read the corresponding scriptural prove. Nothing wayward is unbagged. For the author it is important to state that muslims are made to believe that they know who Jesus was, but in reality their view is totally wrong and insufficient. He demands of everybody to convince himself who both were, by reading the testimonial proof, in the Quran as well as in the Bible, because: "the Bible as well as the Quran say, that truth will speak by itself!" Yes, only that sometimes you have to wait long for it, until it speaks! Then it has to do with showing true interests and not to find one`s prefabricated opinions proved. And then one will see that the Allah of the Quran has nothing in common with the God of the Bible. This book is especially important because seeing the flood of books which show communities, according to the political correctness, one easily overlooks the grave differences. The intention of the book is summarized by the author: "It wants to help you to understand Islam and Christianity by referring you to the founders of these religions. Consider this: You cannot understand Christianity by viewing what Christians do as well as you cannot understand Islam by viewing what Muslims do." What a pity properly! At least as for Christianity! You could even say: it is a great misfortune for mankind that Christians do not live according to their model, in return it is a great fortune for mankind, that the Muslims do not do what their model has done. The book has missionary character towards the end. But this is understandable by the life story of the author. I think it is notwithstanding appropriate for the reader who does not know the Islam to get an introduction in this religion, an introduction which proceeds along the more or less known items of Christian belief. As well it could serve Muslims to be more able to classify their own belief in comparison to the Christian belief. In general it is unfortunately a fact that Muslims have no ambitions whatsoever for that matter.

The astonishing thing is that for 19 chapters Dr. Mark adroitly delivers a meticulous comparison between this and that leaving the judgement for the reader without imposing his personal opinion that solely appears at the 20th chapter . Going through the content, I couldn't stop from affirming how pleased and honored I am to follow and belong to you JESUS.

I was walking in bookstore and saw the cover of the book. It's been a long time since I read books on Islam and Christianity, so, I thought, I'll give it a try. The reading is simple yet provocating. This book is a must-read for students in Islam and Christianity.

I took a post graduate level class from Dr. Gabriel this year and I think that I can clear up a few misconceptions on his background and purposes. During the class when answering questions he always quoted the Quran from memory in Arabic. Then he would provide a quick English translation and have us find the verse in one of our translations. From this I can say that he did indeed have the entire Quran memorized, and hence that substantiated many of his biographical details. Also a local Egyptian gentleman visited the class, and they talked about their former homeland, Egypt. Secondly, he repeatedly expressed his love for all Muslims, and encouraged the class to continue to pray for them. Clearly, anyone who thinks that Dr. Gabriel "hates" Muslims is using that word in a different sense than that with which I am familiar. The book itself is a fair account of the differences between Jesus and Muhammad. I would suggest that many people need to actually read the Bible to see what it says about Jesus. I suggest that they start with the Gospel of John. Next I suggest that some of the critics of Dr. Gabriel's work should actually read the Quran and see what it teaches on various subjects. Most people in the west will be surprised. Next, read a biography of Muhammad. Get a feel for the kind of person he was. The earliest biography of the prophet is Islam is by Ibn Ishaq and can be found in translation on the web. Follow that by searching through the collections of hadith on the USC-MSA website. Type in a few search words such as "Jew," or "Jihad." Be inventive in your research. If you enter the search with as few preconceptions as possible you will be amazed at what you can learn. Good luck and may God bless your search.
