Donkeys hate losers! Once a Demo has lost, he usually has a long road back. This is probably the case of Siegelman.

It's too soon for him. He should be re-elected governor in 2006, then I'd love to see him try in 2012 or if a Democrat wins in 2008, then he should try in 2016.

i don't know much about him, but just because someone is from the south doesn't mean they'll automatically win for the democrats. rather, someone from the midwest--particularly indiana or ohio--would be a good choice.

Definitely not the best Democrats could do. This former Alabama Governor lost to Bob Riley in 2002 in a very difficult race. Subsequent to that, he was charged with massive ethics violations, but apparently he's been exonerated. He seems to be angling for a comeback in 2006, but I doubt he's a serious contender for the Presidency. A lot of Democrats seem to think that nominating any Southerner will solve their problem, but that's not it. Their problem is more than just cosmetic. Siegelmann isn't the one to solve that problem, it's going to take more than just nominating any Southerner for the job.

Southern governor. Could be the best thing for the Democrats since Bill Clinton. He brought huge companies to Alabama in just four years as Alabama governor, such as Honda, Boeing, Mercedes, etc. He raised teacher salaries, raise educational standards. Could hurt my mighty Republicans in the south. The Democrats should be asking him now and not later. He already is more viable than any northeastern liberal who is out of touch with the south and the moderates who make up the larger part of the Democratic party. (Another one to watch out for Republicans)
