Five stars for the era it was designed for. Powerfull round, reliable sturdy action, and quite accurate. Still produced for most of WWII. With some refinements was employed as a sniper rifle.

Great rifle. It is a bolt action 30/06 (7.62 MM). It was based on the Mauser patent. The United States paid a royalty to Mauser in Germany for several years. It continued in use in World War II for sniper action and the Marine Corps was late in giving it up.

Soldiered on well into WW II, despite its pre-WW I origins. Due to its Mauser lineage, probably on a par with the German '98k.
