This was essentially a tube that fired a rocket. It was introduced in North Africa and was very effective against the German and Italian armor in that theater. It was so effective that the Germans copied it to make the Panzerschreck. As the war went on, the Axis tanks had better armor and the bazooka became less effective with the rockets unable to dent the larger tanks. The army still considered it effective and was used all during the war and into Korea. It had many drawbacks. It was wildly inaccurate, and had a tremendous back blast. The troops hated this because it gave away their postition. It was simple to operate, however. It fired the rocket with the juice from a battery about the size of a flashlight battery!
