You must read this book or buy it on CD like I did and listen to it. It may be to late to save our country but you can prepare yourself for what is to come by understanding what got us here and where other country's went that were in this same spot. I have done much studying and if I was going to suggest one book this would be it. This book really covers all areas in a way that you can understand without having to study for weeks. Buy the book. Buy one for your Dad, brother friend anyone you care about. You will read this and you will feel excited, anger, scared, used but empowered.

My husband and I are both reading this book and are enjoying it. We were concerned that it would be difficult to read since Mark is an attorney (legal terminology) but it's actually very easy to follow. I was glad I ordered from Amazon because the price is practically half from that of our local book store. As we read we can't help but say "so true, so true!"

I would like to challenge all "Liberals, Democrats, and Progressives to read this book. I also realize that it is much easier for them to trash The Great One without reading his perfectly constructed Constitution based argument because if they did read this, they would know that they don't have an argument at all.

I read the one star reviews of this book because I didn't understand how anyone could possibly have read it and thought it only deserved one star. Many of the one star reviews came from the very people the book criticizes, "statists". Another of the "reviews" of the book proclaimed that they would not read it because they didn't like his radio show. Others admitted that they had only read a small portion and then put it down because they didn't agree with his viewpoint. Some said it was hateful...so I can only assume they also didn't read the book, for this book certainly is not hateful. They should at least read the book before telling others not to. I conclude that the one star reviewers deem this book detrimental to furthering an anti-liberty agenda and so they seek to supress it by discouraging people from reading it.

This book I read in two days, and it was a joy. I think it was pretty easy reading because the truth doesn't require a lot of bending of logic and language. I enjoyed reading it, I think largely because Levin didn't step around the third rail issues such as social security. I believe that anyone with an OPEN mind and who does not share the statist's agenda, would agree that it gave them a lot to think about in a very honest way. If you are a liberal in the true sense of the word, with an open mind, this book will leave you with a lot to think about. You may not agree with all of it, and you also may not agree on what all the solutions are, but I believe that if you can put aside negative feelings about republicans or certain specific issues you might feel passionately about, you will find yourself agreeing with him in at least some fundamental ways.
The book is well referenced from a variety of neutral and even some liberal sources as well as history.
He concludes by giving some practical advice on what we can and must do to preserve liberty. This should be a common goal among libertarians, conservatives and true liberals. We should at least agree that liberty is paramount and worth saving. In that sense this is a manifesto for all who prefer liberty. Only the statist would prefer tyranny.

It is essential that students read this book! Students of all ages! The majority of people do not understand the meaning of statism; The author is clear, concise, accurate.

Anyone who is hoping for a revival of Hope in America MUST read this to understand where we are and where we are presently headed.

Buy the cd and listen if you do not have time to read!!
