I guess I'm just a bit spoiled when it comes to tv show guides, but the first one I ever read, was Keith Topping's Angel unofficial guide, "Hollywood Vampire", followed by his Buffy one - "Slayer". The depth and attention to detail that Topping shows are unparalleled. The Supernatural Companion for S2 is the first one I've bought, but seeing that the author is the same for all three books published so far, I doubt there's much difference. It's an interesting read, but it lacks depth. Every episode gets four pages (except for the season finale) and those are filled with mostly uninteresting trivia about costumes and special effects. The occasional fun stuff is there as well, and the song guides are pretty cool. BUT it lacks any in-depth analysis (maybe I'm just expecting a little bit too much from an OFFICIAL companion). And I hate it when I've seen stuff the author of a guide book has either missed, or omitted from his writing. For example, there's no mention of the irony of Amber Benson (who plays a reformed vampire in one of the episodes) being an important character from Buffy (where she FIGHTS vampires). Anyway, it's a nice book and I'll be buying the rest of the Supernatural guides. But I sure as hell hope an unofficial companion pops in with more in-depth material. Because there is nothing here that I didn't already know...

I'm a fan of the show and getting a little more inside info on the production is pretty cool. I like the list of cast members, music used, make up, producer opinion, etc. Great for the fans.

NICHOLAS KNIGHT DOES ANOTHER VERY GOOD JOB ON THE COVERAGE OF SEASON 2 OF THIS VERY GOOD SHOW ON CW NETWORK. THE BOOK DESCRIBES THE PLOT OF EACH EPISODE ALONG WITH COMMENTS FROM THE ACTORS, WRITERS AND OTHER PEOPLE BEHIND THE SCENES. THE BOOK ALSO GIVES AN EXPLANATION AND BACKGROUND ON SOME OF THE LEGENDS AND DEMONS THAT APPEAR ON THE SHOW. ALSO INCLUDED IS AN INTERVIEW WITH THE ACTORS WHO PLAY THE CHARACTERS AND WE GET THEIR INPUT ON THE CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT AND ALOT OF WHAT IT IS LIKE TO WORK ON THE SHOW. WE ALSO GET SOME INPUT FROM THE BEHIND THE SCENES PEOPLE LIKE WRITERS, MAKEUP AND HAIR DESIGN. ALL IN ALL THIS IS A LOT OF BANG FOR YOUR BUCK.

The book came just as good as it was described and very quickly. Excellent Service! Thanks! The book was exactly what I expected, a great companion to one of the best series on tv. I bought it to get a list of the songs in each episode, and although there were some episodes where there was no songs listed, it was still pleasant to relive the season through the eyes of the hardest working cast and crew in television!

The Official Companion for Supernatural Season 2 is a great book to have. It has the music that was used in each episode if you are looking to try and make your own soundtrack to the show. It has the actors and writers points of view while making the show. The background that is given and why somethings where done make going back and then re-watching the show after reading this even better.
