i have been a customer of kay jewelers for 15 years now. and i have always received great customer service. i am not saying that i have never had a problem just when i do, i do not take it out on the sales people. they are just trying to do their jobs. besides if i came in with an attitude i deserve to get one back. but i am nice to them and they bend over backwards for me. even when their repair shop messes up my ring for the 3rd time. its not the sales reps fault they dont personally fix my rings, they depend on someone else to do their part. and i know if they could strangle the repair shops manager neck they sooo would. but they are so helpful to me. i feel bad for bad for them now reading all these ratings. how tough their jobs must be to deal with a bunch of spoiled brats. my advice for the great sevice that i get is: be nice, you will get a lot farther. just put yourself in their shoes how would you like to be talked to like you are scum.

Actually I decided to buy an engagement ring from Kay's. Even though my credit is not perfect, they approved me for an amount that would cover the ring I indented to buy. Instead of buying it online, I went to the local store in the mall and the staff was extremely nice and helpful. The lady I was working with got on the phone and got me approved for even more money, then turned around and took almost 1000 of the ring and a lifetime warranty, then turned around and got it sized for me. She took care of everything. She was very knowledgeable and spoke with such great confidence. I was completely comfortable with the transaction and will purchase again in the future (at least after I get this ring payed off first).

Run, don't walk away from Kay.

I tried to return a watch 3 days after the 30 day expiration period and was told it was impossible because 'the computer won't let me enter it'. Either a lie or a policy that reflects no flexibility to allow for unusual circumstances -- in this case illness.

Horrible. My boyfriend is going off to the marines soon, so we bought promise rings for each other . We trusted that Kay's would provide us with a positive, satisfactory if not exceptional experience. We were goign to use these rings as our wedding rings when he comes back. His ring from me turned out fine, his to me didn't turn out so well. First off, the ring they sent off wasn't the ring he chose. Second, the employee who wrote out the order spelt his name wrong, so we had to get it redone, which takes an additional 10 days -- time WE DO NOT HAVE! Furthermore, we had to pay the $25 engraving labor fee for their spelling error. Now the ring won't be here in time for him to make his promise to me and have our special moments. I'll have to pick up the ring by myself, and just put it on myself with him off at boot camp.--very meaningless. The employees were rude and seemed so miserable and disinterested in their job, and one of them even suggested plagiarism, suggesting that sign my name for his credit card since he won't be here to sign for it.

i shopped at the kay in oakridge mall in san jose, ca. the employees just didnt know a thing. the one person nicky that was helping me seemed to be the only one that knew what she was talking about because this stupid bald guy kept interupting her asking her stupid question that he should have known the answers to. how could they have workers there with such stupid looks on their faces when they are asked simple questions. he just kept getting mad because she was giving me the service i hoped for, but he wanted to make his sale, finally i just left and figured i can go back some other time when i only see nicky there and not some stupid bald worker that doesnt know anything. seriously, how could you just sit there and keep your hands in your pockets dazing out like you are on something? he just kept checking out anything with breasts that walked by. im glad i didnt bring my wife or daughter in with me cause god knows what he would be thinking about them. i will never shop at this store ever again. they need to fire all of there employees except for the one or two that actually know something about jewelery. sorry nicky, this isnt about you, keep up your good work and you will go far.

DO NOT SHOP AT KAY JEWELERS....IF YOU WANT TO BE HAPPY
A Must read!
My boyfriend proposed to me with a 2 karat $6000.00 ring from Kay Jewelers and was told it would take 2 or 3 days to be sized. "BULLSH*T" Once the ring was purchased, then we were told the sizing, re-dippings and repairs would take 10 days! GET THIS... they are partners with Jared and since all of the local repair shops stopped dealing with Kays, they have their customers jewelry shipped to Dallas, Texas to be repaired at a Jared repair shop. I'M SO NOT DONE.. the sales person said "you know the Jared customers get taken care of before the Kay's cutomers" so your turnaround time may be a little longer. LONGER THAN WHAT 10 DAYS? Are you kidding me. We just bought a $6000.00 engagement ring from you and it will be shipped out of state to be sized and MIGHT be back within 10 days... I am so sorry that he bought my ring at Kays... I just got engaged and now I have no ring for at least 10 days. What a joke! Buyer beware, shop elsewhere.

Great job, great service. We purchased a ring 3 years ago and are very happy with Kay Jewelers. We searched and searched all over different stores. We really wanted to go to a local place and not a big retail giant, but we are very happy we came to Kay's. We explained to them what we were looking for and they found it. They had the best service plan and warranty we could find anywhere and we have never had any problems with them. We take the ring in about once or twice a year and they always have a great turn around. We recently took the ring in to have it resized and inspected. The turn around was about 5 days. We have even traded up for a better diamond and they were great about it.

KAY JEWELERS IS TERRIBLE! I ordered/fully paid a five hundred dollar ring 01/24/08 from Kay: in store. It is now 03/09/08 and the ring is still not in. I called them 3 times throughout to see what the deal was, "they" never called me once. So I went in the other day to see why the hell it was not in my possesion, turns out they "forgot" to order the ring and are having it resized by an employee when he comes in....next week...and I should have it in two or three weeks they say. What's worse is they pulled out their "customer information" on me, to write down some stuff on paperwork and write at the top in big, permanent writing was written "DO NOT CALL." What kind of customer service is that!? This is bullsh*t. If it's not in within the week I'm getting my money back. Already my entire family have stopped shopping at Kay of hearing this, relitives and all. A few dozen sales down the drain for Kay. Anyone who reads this, please...DON'T GO TO KAY! They are bastards.

In the 19 years that I have had my wedding ring, two things have been continuous sources of disappointment: the quality of the ring and Kay's rapid deterioration of customer service.

Did you know that if you and your boyfriend/husband go in Kays and buy you a pair of diamond earings for $1700.00 and you break up or split with your boyfriend/husband and you want to return the earings within the 90 day return period and get the money and buy you something else, say a big screen TV "you can't" unless your name is on the receipt. They will mail the refund back to your ex-husband/boyfriend. Make sure ladies that your name is on that receipt.

I had TERRIBLE, UNPLEASANT experiences at Kay Jeweler in Houston, TX. I filed complaint on their website customer service, yet I realized they really did not care. I do not want to deal with them any more. Please do not buy anything from them.

I bought a Seiko watch for my close friend's Christmas gift. It did not keep time and I got embarrassed. I later found out the watch was defective and returned at least once (and still was being sold).

I had to go to the store twice to get my refund because on the first visit, a store clerk refused exchange and just changed battery (it took forever for her to just to open the watch). She refused to take my metal watch because it was not in the original length and insisted I had to bring the missing pieces for return. Later I found out she was wrong...I could have returned it even if it was not in the original length. Who would keep the unnecessary metal pieces anyway?

Yet my friend did not shorten the watch. It means the watch was bought by someone before, shortened, returned, and still being sold again.

The store clerk and the manager (second visit) never apologized for anything. The store manager showed me terrible attitudes. The first thing the manager said to me was, "What do you want to do? I do not play games. Tell me what do you want to do!" in a very hustle manner. She also lied about the price. She said, "If you want to exchange, you will not the get the same price. It was a special Christmas price." However, an honest store clerk just mentioned he sold the same watch yesterday with the same price. So I told the manager what I heard. Then she said, "Well, then, it's a Valentine sale..."

I filed complaint and I got response from a customer service representative. In the response, the representative gave me a person's name and number to discuss the issue. I called the number and found out the person is a assistant manager of the store. Why do I want to talk to the assistant manager who works UNDER the awful manager?? To discuss the terrible acts of the manager, I needed to talk to someone ABOVE her. It's a stupid customer service.

In sum, I highly recommend NOT TO DO ANY BUSINESS with KAY Jewelers. Kay is full of craps...bad attitude, selling returned defective watches, ignorance, and lies.

Kay Jewelers are a sham. I bought a "Journeys" diamond pendant from them (the $400 version, so not the cheapest one, not that that should be relevant) for my wife's birthday, and the bottom diamond was misaligned. The Journeys pendant is the one that has a line of diamonds in a slight "S" curve. We took it back after it had only been worn about five times, and we found out that this kind of thing isn't warrantied. My wife did not mistreat the pendant at any time--it wasn't dropped, banged against anything...you get the idea. In any case, to get it fixed (because I hadn't bought their warranty) it cost $40. After they got the pendant back the first time for repairs, the pendant returned more damaged than when we'd brought it in. The "S" shape of the pendant was gone, and we got this straightened pendant back. So on the spot my wife sent it back yet again, for which we weren't charged. Tonight (days after we got the pendant back), we find out that another diamond on it is now loose. What a piece of crap. We didn't buy the warranty for the first repair, figuring that lightning doesn't strike in the same place twice, and hoping that Kay Jewelers has some kind of quality built into their products. All I will say is that I'm never buying anything from Kay Jewelers again. My other experiences are with Bailey Banks and Biddle, and Tiffany. The other companies have been much better in terms of product quality even if you don't buy higher-end stuff--never a loose or misaligned diamond, no matter the price, high or low. The only good thing I will say is that the folks at our local Kay's were reasonably nice and courteous. Too bad the company they work for make low-quality products. It's no wonder they don't stand behind their products, because they can't.

Kay can lick my taint hair. They are con artists. we bought a 1,200 $ bridal set when it arrived, the center stone was crooked and inferior quality as to what they told it is. Kay said it was an SI1 but I see a large feather with my naked eye, also polish and symmetry are terrible.

After it was appraised by an independent jeweler, I found out the center stone was half the weight of what the sales person told me it was. Their rings are cheap because of low carat metal, and the rings are made of less metal than better rings, (the inside of the ring has cut outs). My advice is is to get the manager to write down exactly what you order, have him sign it, and don't buy anything with out it being independently certified (GIA, etc)

note--> cultured diamonds are REAL diamonds and cheaper, not dug buy bloody africans, and come in blue, pink, and white. go for one of these if you can, just Google cultured diamond or go to http://www.adiadiamonds.com/content/main/ their stuff looks pretty decent and you know what ur getting for a stone.

I normally shop at the Kay Jewelers in Springfield, VA and occasionally the one in Manassas, VA. All the people have been nothing but helpful. I have had occasional problems with jewelry breaking and such, but their warranties have always covered them and the employees always took the time to explain everything to us. All the bad reviews on here are incredible.. some of them seem to be people overreacting (stuff happens), others are just plain dumb. The rest must be due to the local management.. you should consider dealing with their corporate number or district managers. They've never given me any trouble at all!!

Thumbs up for Kay Jewelers at Westtowne Mall, Madison WI. Excellent service and very helpful. I sent my ring for two resizings within 2 weeks and initially was anticipating the employee to feel kinda annoyed, but in fact no. There's so much I'd really like to say, but it's very late and I have to go to bed.
I'm a happy employee of Kay Jewelers. I love my store, and working for this company. I know not every store is just as good as mine, but that really applies to any major chain. Experiences can differ so much from store to store, and I know that valid customer service issues happen here and there (as they do in any chain) but I will say I've seen a lot of customers blow things out of proportion, not follow directions regarding jewelry care and storage, credit responsibilities, warranty responsibilities, etc.
1. Before you get all worked up about "poor craftsmanship" take a look at how you care for your jewelry. Do you sleep, swim, garden, workout, etc etc in your jewelry? Should you really? I've seen so many customers refuse to take responsibility for their lack of care owning jewelry. One example, a lady had a sharply bent platinum prong and a cracked diamond. Hasn't updated her warranty in over a year because "just too busy to come into kay's for 10 minutes twice a year" and is angry because we wouldn't replace the stone? Calls our product's craftsmanship poor? Sorry! Platinum is very strong. So are diamonds. To insist that there was no chance she knocked her ring very sharply or did anything, anything at all to have damaged the ring is just ludicrous. Ohhh I could go on but the point is, take care of your jewelry. Don't sleep, play, work, etc in your jewelry, store it properly, take it in for inspections periodically and own up to your role of responsible caretaker of your fine jewelry. Lifetime gold warranty is valid for the life of your jewelry and covers just about anything forever. (be realistic; if you break your diamond link bracelet in 4 or 5 pieces, don't expect it to look brand new after they solder the pieces back together.)
2. Good piece of advice for those who are looking for a more knowledgeable sales associate. Every store has a certified diamontologist. I've taken the course and it's provided me with so much. Not every associate can 100% explain things like cut, color, clarity, etc but if you speak with the cert. diamontologist you will feel much more comfortable and leave more knowledgeable.
3. Basic rule to remember: If you only want to spend $600 on a 1/2 carat solitaire, $100 on a diamond journey pendant, $200 on a diamond bracelet.. etc.. QUALITY DOES GO DOWN. Anywhere. Sounds rude but it's really true; "you get what you pay for" Want high quality? Prepare to pay more. That's how jewelry and gemstones work. OMG we've even had people complain that our $40 PC items (items we do for seasonal sale weekends) look "cheap" YOU'RE SPENDING FORTY DOLLARS ON A DIAMOND RING. OF COURSE IT LOOKS CHEAP!!!!!!!!!
Aaaagghhh!
I have to go to bed. Sorry to those of you who have had bad experiences. I know it can be so frustrating, but you take the chance virtually anywhere you shop. But there are still plenty of shoppers out there that distort the truth and accept no responsibility when they are wrong.
Okay okay off to bed for me.
Find a Kay's with a great staff and manager. Ask questions. Follow the rules. Be informed, reasonable and realistic.

DO NOT PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM KAY!!!!! After browsing the Kay website I found the "perfect" anniversary band. My husband and I took the ring to get sized along with his band (he lost weight and it was way too big). The first salesman was very helpful, although it took him a really long time to fill out all of the paperwork. We were told to return in 2 weeks to pick the rings up. I got a phone call stating the rings were ready. When I get there to pick them up, the clerk shows me my husband's ring first, which was perfect. Then, he calmly states that the "company" they used to size my ring made a mistake and sized it down to a 5 instead of a 5 1/2! After waiting all of that time, I was very upset and was not offered any kind of compensation for my ring. I called customer service and finally the manager called and let me know the ring was ready for me to pick up. I got there to pick up my ring and they still had the storefront closed and the clerk refused to open the door because he said he was instructed not to do so by Loss Prevention. WTF! So at this point I have nothing because I had to return to work.

Never Again will I buy anything from Kays. My husband bought me a 1-ct 3 stone ring with (2) diamond ring guards totaling 2cts. We charged the rings on our Kays Account. We were told that we would have 12 months interest free financing. After several months of paying on our Kay's credit card we found that they changed our interest free acct to a revolving acct with 22.90% interest rate. My husband called several people, Managers and customer service and all we got in return were several "Were sorry" but nothing could be changed. Then to our surprise they closed our accts without even notifying us. I had to continue to pay until this acct had a $0 balance. I will NEVER buy anything from Kays again. This company is a Scam.

My experience with Kay's was not good either! My (now)husband & I went ring shopping at the local mall in Gainesville FL. I now know that (most) jewelery stores in the mall are NOT of good quality, & a lot of them are owned by the same company (Sterling Jewelers) We originally started our hunt for the perfect wedding set at Helzberg Diamonds (and let me just say-I will NEVER go back there again either)! Maybe I am just a persnickety customer, but I feel that if I am going to purchase an item that costs way over $2,000.00 I want to be exceptionally pleased with it! We purchased a 2 carat round channel set engagement ring & band. This is the design that I am in love with. So, I had 3 rings-all exactly alike from that store & each one had an extreme amount of flaws after being sent for sizing. They bent the mounting, scratched the center diamond and the side stones were loose. Every try turned out bad. The final straw was after the 5th time being sent for repairs. The Diamond Consultant said "I'm sure you will be happy with it this time!" It looked okay under their lights, but when I took it out into the natural sunshine I noticed all the same flaws-& so did my sister-so I know it's not just me! I finally decided to return & get a refund and take our business elsewhere. So, off to Kay Jewelers we went. I found a 1 carat round brilliant solitaire and a channel set band. I really liked it (not as much as the set I originally chose, but I was afraid that that design wouldn't please me once I had it sized). After it was sent for sizing it was 2 weeks before our wedding. It was crooked, bent, & scratched! But I needed a ring to get married in, so I waited until after the wedding & honeymoon to return to the store. I had already called & complained, but told them it would have to wait until after the wedding to be fixed. Not only was my set messed up, but his band was cracked when they sized it too! So, they sent all 3 rings to be fixed and when I picked them up they were still unacceptable! Off to repairs again! I kept asking "Oh God will this nightmare ever end?" My mother picked them up & brought them home to me. I immediately called the store & complained again! The manager (obviously getting tired of me) said that instead of sizing, she can custom order our rings in our size then just remove the head & center stone & put into the new band. Okay, that sounded good! When the rings came in I took my solitaire in & went another 2 weeks with out my ring while they sent the stone to be placed in the new band. You know, when you're a newlywed the first thing people want to see is your ring! When my ring was returned to me the stone was chipped & prong was bent! THAT'S IT! I asked the manager to please just give me a refund, she had the nerve to say to me, "Oh, now you don't want your wedding ring?!" How freakin' rude! She was all fine as long as she was getting our business, but mention of a refund, she loses her commission! I understand a lot better now that most of those chain store employees work on commission. Also, they offer you a big line of credit but lousy products. Not great quality or service! Next month we will celebrate our 1 year anniversary-with no diamond! I am still in search of the good quality diamond that I deserve-but will never shop at a Sterling Corporation again!

Kay jewelers in Olean NY is a gossip store! I've been in there on several ocassions to overhear the staff talking about other staff, and customers!! Be very careful about what information they have about you, because it gets around, and the whole county will know your business!!

I know alot about the employees there, just by overhearing the gossip!!

Doesnt seem like the manager can handle her staff, or have the staff LIKE HER! Sounds like she's quite the 'fake'.

I've heard enough to know that the drive to Jamestown and Buffalo is not THAT long! No more shopping in Olean for me!! See ya gossipers! You dont have anything on me!

Worcester MA- They sold me a warranty for my pocket watch. when i had a problem with it and took it back they told me that they don't sell that watch anymore and that it would have to be sent out. 4 months, 3 visits 5 calls and two managers later i finally get my watch back and it was a replacement not a repair.

HORRID!!!!!
Fredericksburg, VA Shaws jewelers has the most incompetent and rude sales people!
My fiance went to another Shaws (in Springfield) to actually purchase the engagment ring as well as the wedding bands that matched. Someone there (not the guy we were working with, who was actually very nice) sold the bands even though they were on hold! First mis-step!
Then we went in to the Shaws in Fredericksburg to get my ring sized because it was too big. The woman who helped us was so amazingly rude! She treated us like trash, like we didn't belong there and they didnt need our money! I was appalled! Never been treated so horribly!
We get my ring back from being sized I have it maybe 2 days and a 4 diamonds fall out! (It has a large center diamond with diamonds around it and on the side).
So we take it back in, explain that we are very unhappy and once again they treat us like crap!
They tell us they'll custom make my ring to "ensure" that no diamonds will fall out.
We ordered it in November they said it'd be in by February and they would call when it came in. They gave me the 'try on' ring to hold until my real one came in.
So we wait and wait and wait some more.
Finally in April my fiance called asking where the ring was.
Well, someone in their store cancelled the order!! for no reason at all!!
Needless to say we were ticked!
So my fiance talks with the manager and gets everything 'straightened out'.
They agree to give us a 'discount on our wedding bands' and well as re-order my engagment band.
During this entire time their staff has treated us with no respect!
Stupidly we ordered our wedding bands from there.
They said they'd be in within 1 week. Now they've said they have no idea when they'll get in! And we are getting married in 1 month!
Now, ANOTHER diamond has fallen out of my ring!
They're blaming it on me saying I must be doing something to make them fall out! WHAT??!!!!
I work in an office and do not operate a jack hammer or anything like that that would case a diamond to fall out of ring!!!!!
Needless to say I am very, very, very unhappy with the Shaws/Kay Jewelers!
I will never go through them again and I do tell and will continue to tell everyone I met to never go there!
We will get our money back unless they do some major sucking up and we are reporting them to the Better Business Bureau.
This was totally unacceptable and horrible at a time in our lives where we should not be worrying about diamonds falling out!!!
Totally disgusted with the Shaws in Fredericksburg, VA!

Kay Jewelers in Janesville Wisconsin does not even deserve a rating. I was forced to give them a one star to put this up. I wish I would have read these before my fiance bought my ring from them. The employees are worthless in their knowledge of jewelry. He bought a Leo, princess cut colorless diamond solitaire from them. I have stopped to look for a wedding band and they check and clean my ring while I do this, not once asking to document this which we didn't realize was needed for the diamond to be under warranty. Seven months later I realize my stone is loose and take it in. They send it in to be repaired. My fiance picked it up a week later and told me to check it because he still thought it was loose. It was so we immediately went back to the store. This should have been our first clue, however we went along with it. While they were preparing the ring to go back once again we found a wedding set we liked and decided to purchase that day so they could save us the time of being without the ring again we asked if they could just have the stone reset into the new setting. They said that would be fine and would take about a week. The day before I was to have it back they call me late that afternoon and tell me that my diamond has a chip in it and I will need to bring in all my paperwork. I couldn't believe what I was hearing, but what could I do? I took in all my paperwork and they sent the info in and told me it would take 4-6 weeks to replace it. I was furious by this point, cancelled my order for the wedding bands and asked for my money back and to send my diamond back loose. I didn't want their incompetent people to touch it anymore. I was told by the district manager the reason it would take so long is that I had a very high grade diamond and they had to find another one like it or better. To me better would mean better in every aspect not just some. They even told me they might be cutting a new one if they have to. Finally after contacting the district manager two times I was informed my stone was in. The store manager was very rude when I asked to see the identification number on the stone to match it to their paperwork. Then I noticed that they did improve the color by one step in the colorless catagory and increased the size by .02 of a carat, however they went down in the clarity from a VS1 to a VS2 Clarity. The store manager told me I was lucky to get what I did. They compensated the size and color for the clarity, which to me is not replacing it with equal or better. She also told me that I was lucky they even covered the diamond because I didn't have any documents stating I had a six month inspection. I have been told by a sister company that they have to replace it if it was in for repairs within the last six months. Maybe it was chipped from the day he bought it, they said it was under the prong and didn't notice until they took it out to reset it. This also tells me they didn't even bother looking at my ring until the day before I was promised it back to me. Just a suggestion to Sterling Jewelery, hire new store managers, and jewelers to do your repairs. I have since found out that Sterling Jewelry owns many jewelry stores under different names-beware they are all the same!!!! Jared's, J.B. Robinson are a few in my area. We were never given an apology or treated like a customer who spent a lot of money in their store. We have filled out survey's and reply forms on line which promise a response within 3 business days and still have not heard from anyone!! I've never been treated this way at any store! I get better customer service at Wal-mart and they a a very big chain. I will never recommend any one to buy at Kay's or any affiliates of Sterling Jewelry. I see many ratings on line with similar incidents.

Kay Jewelers is at the bottom of the list when it comes to customer satisfaction, quality, repairs, even qualified help. My experiance been absolutly terrible. Negative 1 for a rating, and thats generous. Purchased diamond engagment ring and wedding bands at Kays. Bands are sent out for engraving and one needs to be resized. Kay barely meets the deadline to get them back in time. Red flag here! Picked them up the night before flights.(got married in the islands) Husbands band never resized. So I tell the associate that the ring is not the right sizing and it could slip off my husbands hand. She tells me in a snotty fashion to take it downstairs and have their sister store put a sizer on it. Bull! Your store messed it up, you fix it. She reluctantly gets a metal clip on the inside of the ring to hold it on my husbands hand until we get back from out honeymoon so they can fix it right. Get back from Honeymoon, talk to manager, she says have to order a new band. Ok,new band is orderd, resized, engraved. Get it back 14 days latter. WRONG date is engraved. Another ring is ordered and the whole process begins again. Get the ring back, date is right sizing is off. Can live with it. Platinum setting on engagment ring gets bent. Take it in for repair. Get it back. Hmmmm, looks better but still not quite right. Same thing happens 3 months latter. Take it back, send it out for repair, get it back. Looks OK but it also looks like a line going through the diamomd. Now I wonder if it been damaged by the people because it was not like that when I brought it in for repair. 6 Months latter I have to bring it in again because the cathederal setting is bent. It gets sent out. I get the ring back 10 days latter. I AM MORTIFIED, it looks like the repair person took a pair of wire cutters and tried to pull the arches on the cathederal setting apart, instead of closing the gap. It also is bent on one side! I am irate! I start telling the staff that the entire process from purchase untill now has been horrifying. From poor quality items, poor repairs, poor service and the BS from the staff why something is like it is. My husband insist on a new band and setting in which Kay will put my Diamond into the new one. 14 days we are told. Its been 30 days. Go into the store. I am handed a ring that is entirely new, but does not look like the ring setting and band we purchased origionaly and what we planned and agreed on for repair/ replacement. The Repair paper work can't even be located, noboby knows a thing. Pathetic. I am sick to my stomach. Bottom line; supposed to have a ring today, who knows what it will look like,I guess I have to settle with these clowns. I learned a lesson, I will never shop there, I will spread negative information about them, file a complaint with the Better Bussiness Bureau and thank God It's only $ 2000.00 dollars and not more.

My husband bought my ring from kay jewelers about 8 years ago. everything was fine, but last year he decided to upgrade my diamond. so we go to the store together so i can pick out a diamond i liked and i wanted it with the wrap i already had. the ring fit me fine so i was ready to walk out of the store with my new ring and my wrap. they said no they had to send it in to make sure they fit right. ARGH!! i was like fine. so my hubby goes to get the ring, and when he gave it to me, i was mostly unhappy. the wrap has 6 diamonds on it that when i got it back they were all pushed down into the ring so alls you could see are studs, and the new ring i got had a crack in the diamond. now they say they wont warranty the diamond!!! we spent a ton of money to upgrade and instead of a nicer ring i got one i am embarrassed to wear!! the customer service sucks and i advise everyone AGAINST buying from these frauds!! i am contacting a lawyer tomorrow about this as i am irate. we are not rich and saved up our money and i got crap in return. what a waste of time and money.

Horrible customer service practices. Took at $70 item back for a refund and they refused because they did not have enough money in the drawer. Verified they had $200, but would not give me money back until they had over $300 and told me to leave.

Never buy from this jeweler their return policy is horrible. If you purchase in cash they claim to not have enough cash in the register and tell you they will mail you a check. I am also told that the customer may find this little detail on the back of their receipt in the fine print. Who reads that. Anyway buyer beware their cash return policy stinks.

We bought my white gold rings 5 months ago. Guess what? They are PLATED with rhodium, and the plating is wearing off. Kay Jewelers customer service said this is normal and I'll have to have it replated. Good thing I bought that extra warranty! But who wants to have them keep their rings for a week every 5 months? I've contacted other jewelers, and have been told that white gold is never plated with other metals, and we were misled. But of course, Kay Jewelers will not give us a refund. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THEM- WE SPENT OVER $4000, AND ARE SO SORRY WE DID!

shop at kay's jewelers if you want to witness the con artist at work. the begged to clean my ring which was custom made for me and brilliant diamonds. when they handed back to me. I was shocked I had never seen it look so dull and the voice in my head said "what happened to it" and "that's not my ring" when they gave me my watch back I didnt recognize it either. The watch gave me hives so i after comparing it to the pictures and spare parts to the band and the fact that the insides are now made of plastic and not the same quality for this manufacture. I have been scammed. The ring I took to another jeweler the next day they tested the stones none were comming up as diamonds she said they were now malicaide or something like that i think it means fake stone. I wish i would have seen this site first i would have said something immediately I just didnt think things like this happened.

Kay Jewelers did some repair work on my engagement ring and it is apparent to me they know nothing about what they are doing. The first time I had tell the clerk how fill out the paper work and that should have been my clue to walk out and find someone else.I never and when my ring came back only half the repairs were done and nobody even noticed. So, we sent it out to be completed again and after a month 2 of the claws they retipped broke off and my diamond fell out. I was lucky and found it so, I took it back to them so they could have the manager of repairs fix it properly. I get it back and the claws are all different sizes and the diamond was set in crooked. The day after the 90 day warranty the claw breaks off again now I am left to pay someone else to repair my ring. I know not to go near another Kay Jewelers again!!!!!!

My fiance and I went to look for wedding bands at Kay. I knew exactly what I wanted and after a quick look in the case, realized they had nothing I would like. After telling this to the associate, she then offered to clean my engagement ring for me while I browsed. (Although I had nothing left to look at and just wanted to leave the store) She came back to tell me that she had 'bad news' and some of the diamonds in the ring were loose. She told me to check my warranty from where we bought the ring and if it wasn't covered, bring the ring back and they could repair the diamonds for me for "about $30". I checked and I did not have a warranty so I returned to have them fix the ring. When I took the ring back, they told me it would be $35 PER DIAMOND to tighten, and I have 21 diamonds on the ring, 3 of which were apparently loose. They then went back to the microscope to tell me it wasnt 3 but 4 diamonds, with tax the total would be $150. They then told me I should bring the ring back every 6 months or so because there would most likely be more loose stones. The total price I originally paid for this ring was only $500.

I called a local repair shop discussed the issue with them and they were floored by Kays repair costs. They told me that there was no way repairing 4 loose diamonds should cost anything near $150. Luckily, I called Kay and canceled my repair order before they started working on my ring. I think Kay saw me as someone not interested in any of their products and tried to take advantage anyway they could before I walked out of the store. I seriously wonder if the diamonds were actually loose to begin with.

OHMIGOD!! Kay Jewelers should be ashamed of their products, their sales staff, their customer service and their LOUSY ESP bogus warranty. I took my wedding band in for repair. After 5 years exactly, the inside of the band is cracked and paper thin. The day I dropped it off for repair, the sales person PUSHED me towards "Just trade it in". Well I had no intentions of losing my original wedding band and would have to spend an additional $600.00 to walk out with something comparable. She reluctantly sent the ring out. After 3 calls to the store, they finally found my ring and told me that it was beyond repair and that I HAD no other choice but to spend the additional money to get something else. Or that they could custom make another ring exactly like mine for approx $2000 because they could not order the same setting any more. And that is with using my diamonds!! My wife only paid $600 for the ring!! I took my ring and left the mall. I stopped by a REPUTABLE jeweler and was told that my ring could be repaired and that my 1/2 carat (50 points) total 3 stones was no more than 1/7 (15 points) of a carat. Big difference. I called their customer service 800 number and Dan told me he had to contact the store manager to find out why the ring couldn't be repaired. Why he couldn't just call the repair people is beyond me. That was days ago and I haven't heard a thing back from him. I am telling everyone who will listen to RUN, don't walk, AWAY from Kay Jewlers and that every Kiss from Kay can go to my ASS!!

My husband bought my engagement ring at Shaws which is now kays. It started out as a simple marquie solitare. What seemed to have no inclusions in it that I could see. So then I started to look for wraps and I knew I wanted something they didn't have. But the sales woman inseisted that I could have one custum made. I really didn't want to do that what if I didn't like it. Oh you can return it if its not what you like. The sales clerk tells me. But of course when the ring was finished I didn't like it and the reciept says that we can not return custum made jewlery. So It wasn't what I wanted We went round and round with the store maneger we can put a bigger head on it it will raise your center stone the way you want it. but it will cost you 80 more dollars. I said will it really make a deffernce of ya.the Store maneger tells me. So it comes back after about 6 wks of waiting and wondering its all clean and sparkley and I noticed the were two cracks in my solitare they told me that they were inclusions I said I had never notice them before. They told me that is how I can tell if thats my daimond or not. And it also had a bowtie in the center which I had never notice before. I still don't think I got my daimond or someone elses cheap peice of crap.We called corpert we stopped paying our bill but that got us no were.So my husband try to close the account for Kays But ELizebeth would also have to consent. Which by the way my name is Crystal Elizebeth is is ex wife. So the day my husband went to get me some jewlery he wasn't looking for a engement ring. He had just filed bankqucy with his ex and him I were both still married to other people at the time. The account had been closed for qute some time. The day he went in it just so happened that the computer were down and he also told the lady a bought the sitation with his credit not being so good. So to make a long story short the Store manager opened a account in his and his ex's name with out his consent to put her name on the account or hers for that matter. Unreal what sneak that lady was. Needless to say we no longer show at Kays which sucks for them cause my husband use to buy all my presents there and now he makes twice as much as he usto we tell all of our family and friends and our new friends. We usally get on the subject cause my ring is perfect now since we found a new place to take it. Not to mention the hack job Kays did on the custum. after I had all my stones placed in a new mounting the one I really wanted and found and enhanceing ring duo. to much a scandle going on there. We will never buy anything from them again.

I would like to share my recent experience with this jeweler. I buy jewlery for myself and my wife approx 15-20 times a year (I collect watches). This is the first time I went to Kay's. I purchased a 1/2 ct diamond, 14kt yellow gold men's wedding band as an upgrade to my existing band. Beautiful ring, after searching the entire Stonbriar Mall in Frisco, TX, this is the ring I wanted. On sale for $799.99. The sales associate pushed us to buy an additional warranty. I asked "does it cover loss or theft"? Answer: no. Response: I don't want it. She continued to push for the entire time during the purchase. It was a men's size 10. I required a 9 1/2. Sent it off to their jewler to have sized for an additional fee. For $800, should have been free. Seven days later I pick up the ring. Didn't fit. The sales associate actually stated "I told you you should have gotten the warranty". "Now you'll have to pay to have it sized". Unbelievable!!! I took the ring to a jewler I usually deal with. Found the ring sized to a 9 3/4, not a 9 1/2. No wonder it didn't fit. The sizing work was amateur at best. Grind marks, out of round, uneven in width and thickness. My jewler couldn't believe the hack job done on this ring. Cost me $59 to repair the damage and to have sized to the correct size. This is the first and last time I will purchase anything at this jewler. This is with out a doubt the worst experience I have ever ha
