Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers 5

This was the best of the lot; of course, I like the battle scenes. The seige scene is a great last stand episode.

My Favorite will always be The Fellowship Of The Ring, but this film is incredible in a whole other way.  Our heroes continue their quest to Mordor to destroy the ring. You are introduced to a whole new group of folks, and are shown some great battle scenes starting around halfway through the film.  Gimli is also hilarious in this one.

Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers 3

Faramir was written out of the films, replaced by another character called Faramir with nothing in common except their name, blood-tie to Boromor and military rank and function. The film devolves further from the script, and there is no end to Jackson's lame excuses and explanations as to why he did such a poor translation this time around. The story really turns into a piece of trash, saved by Tolkiens depth of language and Boyens natural talent as a writer. The costumes and sets are the best ever seen on film, and the cinematography is excellent. Jackson did a good job but he and his wife mangled the script so badly, and devolved all the characters and relationships so horribly I'm saddened to see how badly Jackson failed to understand Lord of the Rings, instead replacing his own values with Tolkiens.

The second part of Lord of the Rings is as good as the first and third parts. Frodo and Sam are on their own and are joined by Gollum, who has split personalities. He wants the ring for himself. This has a lot of good moments and nice special effects too.

Superb, Christopher Lee was perfect for Saruman and Andy Serkis as Gollum was remarkable.

If you read my Star Wars Episode III comment, it applies here. The Two Towers was the only Lord of the Rings I remotely understood. however, I only understood it about 45%.

Peter Jackson took out perfectly good stuff that would have translated fine into this movie and replaced it with his own crap. Movie is good, but the butchering of the original story sucked.

This has more action than the first one and goes by quite quickly considering the 3 hour run time. It picks up the story right were the first film left off but if you have not seen the first you will be lost. The battle scenes are great with wonderful effects.

Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers 5

Of all the LOTR movies, I wouold have to say this one is my favorite. If I can sit through this movies 5 times and not get tired of it, you know I must love it. And it's not just because of Orlando's eye shot closeup in Fangorn Forest. Although that did keep me on the edge of my seat for about 5 minutes afterwards.( That was when I was obsessed with him, which I'm not anymore by the way) This one definetly has the best battle scene. The batle at Helms Deep is amazingly crafted. It took them a long time to build that set. I think they said about 7 months. And then it gets destroyed! Talk about hard work gone before your eyes! But it's all worth it. My favorite 2 lines from the battle scene. 1st, from Legolas talking to Gimli when he can't see. GimliWhat's happening? LegolasShall I describe it to you, or would you like me to find you a box?. My second favorite, again from Gimli and Legolas. When their fighting the Orcs and such, Gimli Leoglas! Two already! Leoglas I'm on 17! Gimli Argh! I'll have no pointy ear outscoring me! Legolas19! It's hilarious! Ya, I know, I'm a die-hard fan!

Orlando Bloom stole the show and made me jump out of my seat and cheer when he slid down the stairs while firing off arrows at hapless orc and then proceeded to separate some heads from some bodies when he reached the bottom. This film only betters the formula established in the first film. Gollum is a top notch performance. That character made me lauch and tremble and even feel sorry for him. He was brilliant. I hope this trend continues into the third film.

This film is fantastic! It betters the first one which is hardly possible. The actors are magnificent and the special effects in the battle scenes are worth taking many double takes. A trumph for film-making even if it fudges on Tolkien's version a little.

Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers 4

I found this film to be about as good as its prequel with simmilar results. The film contained excellent special effects which really drove home the realism of Middle Earth. However, the entire sub-plot with regard to talking and walking trees was not well developed, and essentially childish. Gollum was excellent, but not oscar worthy.

Not what I expected. The first LOTR was almost exactly like the book but the second one strayed from the original story. On the plus side gollum was done extremely well. The digital character in the last Harry Potter POS looked like crap in comparison.

Once I saw the Fellowship, I couldn't wait for the Two Towers to come out. And the only bad thing about the Two Towers is it makes it that much harder to wait for the Return of the King. One of the very best movies of all time. You just don't know what you're missing until you've been a part of the Lord of the Rings!

Don't get me wrong, Chicago was fine. But lets get real Academy, LOTR The Two Towers was the best picture of the year hands down. Now, I'm not one of these fanatics and I actually thought the first one could have been a little shorter, but the 2nd has more action and excitement. It flows better, Gullom-Smiegel is a lot of fun to watch and the whole movie it is a true cinematic masterpiece. I will say that from reading a bit from some of the comments here from people psycho-analyzing the film to the extreme to another person calling it "Christian" and Harry Potter "anti-Christian" need to remember ITS JUST A MOVIE, a science fiction movie and not to take it so seriously! Chill out folks. However, LOTR is a fantastic film, no question.

Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers 4

Well, I think this one was a bit more fun to watch than the first one. I happened to agree with Ebert on both - the first one was very awkwardly paced and in this one the main heroes, the hobbits, seem to take a back seat to Helm's Deep - a battle that occupied one short chapter in the book. This guy I know thought it would've been better to end the movie with the cliffhanger Tolkien used in the book (I guess I shouldn't give it away to non-readers). As an avid fan of the book I'd have to agree. I was discussing with some online fans what will be left out due to their chopping the main events off the end of the second book, and we ended up agreeing that quite a bit will be (I'm guessing Aragorn will not take the POTD). I noticed the absence of the twins - Arwen's brothers, and wondered why it couldn't have been them with some Elves and the other Rangers to come down and help with the battle. But I guess Jackson wanted to give Lorien a bigger role. And, oh, I just love the decision to sacrifice Rohan's Nordic blond genes and traditional braids so that they could look all dissheveled compared to the more organized Elves. What bothered me most was not just Faramir but basically all the human leaders seemed to be many characters with one face - despaired, corruptible and unwise... perhaps so the Elves will seem so much better by comparison? I was highly disappointed in the movie's depiction of both Faramir, and Theoden - who first left the highly-esteemed Aragorn dead on the field (something noone of an honorable and militant culture such as Rohan's would dream of doing), and then even tho he was cured lost all his Rohirric "courage and spirit". Although I think the worst thing about this one was the sleep-inducing and unnecessary amount of time they devoted to Arwen. Give her a couple of blips, fine, but I insist they overdid it. I think the best thing about this movie was Gollum. I was surprisingly impressed that there was actually nothing I would change about him.

Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers 5

The book on which the three films are based is conventionally, and incorrectly, referred to as a "trilogy"...a term that describes three books that are related but each a complete work in itself--able to stand independently of the others. Lord of the Rings is actually a single novel divided into three parts by the publisher for reasons of convenience. Critics who call The Two Towers a "sequel" are mistaken. It is part two of a three part work, and is best judged as such. As such, and anticipating a similar quality level in the as-yet-unseen third intalment, it is excellent work. Jackson's emendations were by and large more respectful of the novel than anyone has a right to expect, given the film industry's historically rocky relationship to literature, especially great literature.
