An excellent representation of Dave Stevens work. A must have for Dave Stevens' fans.

An excellent restropective on both the life and art of someone who I felt was one of the best in the field. The book was very informative with many photos and artwork spanning his life. It was sad towards the end when dealing with the illness that finally claimed his life but it was also inspirational with the courage he showed by dealing with it. I would HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone who is a fan of Dave Stevens' art, the Rocketeer, or just plain great art.

La información es amena y muy completa. El nivel de los gráficos, la cantidad de los mismos, y la selección de estos no pudo ser mejor. Yo que había seguido a Stevens a través de los años, me sorprendí del maravilloso material gráfico que no sabía que existía. Él es mucho mejor artista de lo que cualquiera pudo suponer. Basta comtemplar sus ilustraciones de Bettie Page para llenar mil hojas de alabanzas. Magnífico libro, absolutamente recomendable para cualquiera. Imprescindible en cualquier biblioteca de un aficionado al buen arte.

What a fantastic Book this is. I thought I was buying another "art" book but found Brush with Passion to be an "artist's" book that puts all others to shame. It is filled with the artwork of Dave Stevens that you would expect and more....but....What was unexpected was the way Dave seems to speak to the reader in an average joe kind of way. Dave tells his story making you feel as if you're right there with him during his struggles and successes. Along side the writing of Dave Stevens are stories from friends and fellow artists that are placed in just the right order to fit perfectly with the pace of the book. You can see how much love and effort went into making this something special. This book could stand alone as a small paperback even without the amazing artwork. If you are a Dave Stevens fan or a fan of comics or even art in general, this book is a must.

I've got many "art of" and "how to" books on art and photography but this is by far one of the best out there. Dave Stevens's life was cut short way too soon and he left a gap where mounds of his work was supposed to have been published. Such a bright underestimated talent with so much to offer today's artistic youth. But what a legacy he has left...this book is brilliantly put together by colleagues and friends as well as family and everyone's anecdotes and thoughts on his personal and brilliant career. I've loved Dave's art style since I first saw it when the whole Rocketeer hype was going on in the 90's. After that I was hooked. And still am. Brilliant book, do not wait until they stop printing it, go buy one now!!! In fact buy two and give it to someone interested in becoming an artist; you'll help them immensely.
