10/08/2007 | It's not just about joking, sometimes it's about getting the joke. I can't stand to be around someone that takes the slightest, off hand comment and turns it into a dramatic moment, especially when everyone else in the room knows it's a joke.
On the other side of the coin, there is the person that insists on being funny all the time. Always. Never stopping. If you're in the mood for it, or if you're drunk, it can be okay. Putting up with it at all times of the day can really get on your nerves.
People that can joke around, play around, know a good joke when they hear it, but have the tact to know when the joking is out of place are the best people to be around. I've found they make the best friends, at least as far as I'm concerned.

10/08/2007 |  I believe it's great if a friend has a sense of humor. With these type of friends, I could kick back and joke all day long with them. However, a precious few of my friends do lean on the serious side. I don't like them any less than I do my humorous friends; I just can't be as free with them; that's all. I have a special respect for the more serious types (which is why 4 stars rather than 5); they may be going through (or had been through) traumas and hard times, and are more delicate and touchy because of this. Some people merely don't know how to joke, and are more easily offended by a harmless little remark. However, the majority of my friends have been through just as much, and can still see the lighter side of life. That's the way I am! With all that said, I believe a sense of humor (as long as it's not X-rated) is a beautiful quality for any friend to have. People who lack even the slightest sense of humor really should try to loosen up a little. If they don't watch it, they might trip over their long faces!!! lol!

08/03/2006 | In my opinion if a person doesn't have a sense of humor all the other qualities are null and void because life is to short to be around dull people that just don't get it. My best friend and I continuously play practical jokes on each other like decorating the outside of each other's house when we're out of town. We've done some quite creative things. Of course loyalty and honesty is an absolute, but w/no sense of humor, what's the point? Laughter is most important. And it can also be healing to have uncontrollable laughter.

Most of my best friends are somewhat cynical and love jokes, not caring if the joke is on them. It's people who don't recognize sarcasm and are offended by everything I say that has a touch of humor in it who bore me. It's important that you and your friends do not sit around depressing yourselves at all times with stories about your struggles and troubles. It is far more important that your friends not only provide a shoulder to cry on at times but also are people you can feel comfortable around and who eventually learn to laugh at your strange joke. At least in my case. Take care, everyone!
