 | ♥ Danae &heart... (0) 06/01/2008 | You need to listen to your friends but sometimes you just don't want to hear what they are saying, but you should be able to trust them enought to tell them that you dont want to hear about a certain thing. or that you are uncomfortable listening to something so its both ways.

 | Molfan (57) 06/01/2008 | It would be important to be a good listener on both sides. I would hope a friend would be listening to me when I talk. Just as I would try to be a good listener to them. Being with someone who was always saying I,me, and my all the time would be tiring. or if whenever i said something it would be yeah yeah, okay back to me.

 | minkey (36) 04/30/2008 | Advice is really hard to give, because even as friends we never fully know what's going on in the other persons head, nor do we understand all the external factors. The best listeners, will be engaging by asking the right questions to get me to do most of the talking and help me figure out the answer myself.

 | twansalem (36) 04/30/2008 | It's good to have a friend or two who is a good listener, but I don't expect all friends to meet this qualification.

 | Enkidu (37) 03/20/2005 | Utterly essential. Ever know one of those people who could listen to the first half of your sentence, and then interrupted you to start talking about himself?

 | Randyman (103) 03/20/2005 | Sometimes we just gotta vent, especially if you're married. It helps to have a friend who listens. Just be willing to do the same.

 | kolby1973 (32) 10/12/2003 | This is possibly one of the most important qualities in a friend. Usually in the end, the thing that people always complain the most about, is how no one ever listens to them anymore. If you are one of those people that just sit back and listen to people, you are going to have alot of friends. Almost a guarantee. People love to be heard in such an overpopulated world.

 | Redoedo (39) 03/08/2003 | Yes indeed I want a friend who is a good listener. I do want someone who is willing to just listen to my problems or concerns without necessarily giving me their opinion on everything. I really think that a good friend needs to be someone that you can confide in and that will listen to you.

 | lukskywlkr. (3) 11/14/2002 | Not all it's cracked up to be. I talk to myself ALL the time, but I only listen to myself about HALF the time. I couldn't expect a friend to do something that I myself am not willing to do!!!
(0 voted this helpful, 0 funny and 0 agree) |
 | Skysthalimit (0) 10/21/2002 | Listening is one of the biggest points in being a friend. When you listen to a friend when he/she is having troubles, worries, or just talking about regular things your friend feels at ease with you. And likewise if the shoe was on the other foot. However if you have that friend that never listens to a word you say -that person will most likely not be your friend too much longer because they probably only care about themselves.

 | Janey_Lane (0) 02/18/2002 | I don't see why anyone would be friends, real friends, with someone who wasn't a good listener. Being a good listener is the key of any friendship. Why bother making friends if you're not sure that they will listen to your problems and not just wave them away like it's no big deal? No any friend of mine would have to be prepared to listen... and listen... and listen... and listen... and listen...

 | CastleBee (81) 12/12/2001 | Very important. Just make sure you're willing to return the favor. Too many times one person seems to get the idea that their problems and concerns tend to always outweigh that of the other person. This can get to be habitual and often times the naturally good listener becomes the perpetually dumped on.

 | Shroomwoman (12) 12/10/2001 | Being a good listener is a quality that can't be overrated in a friendship. In fact, I would go so far as to say that you can't develop a true friendship with a person who chooses to be a bad listener. Good listeners are a joy to be around because you can have a real give-and-take conversation with them. Because good listeners have done a lot of listening, they often have many interesting things to say, too. I find that good listeners are usually open to new ideas and are willing to discuss things without automatically turning the conversation back to themselves. It is unusual to come across a good listener nowadays, and that's too bad. Wouldn't it be great to include listening training in grades K-12? Now that would do something to improve society!

 | Snoopy (3) 12/08/2001 | This is another important quality. If something is wrong, I want to be ble to talk to my friend about it, not have them brush me off for something else.
