06/29/2008 | Important to have. Even tho is INCREDIBLLY tough to feel that way all the time (especially these days). Studies have shown negative/pessamistic people do not live as long as people who are more optimistic.

06/01/2008 | I know optimism is a great thing, but when I'm feeling something bad is gonna happen, the last thing I want to hear is "it's okay" when it really isn't. Too much optimism can get you in trouble.

05/11/2008 | Overly optimistic can almost be as overbearing as being overly pessimistic. A healthy dose of both, for any situation, is ideal. Upbeat people can certainly bring me out of a funk on occasion though, I won't lie.

04/04/2006 | Another biggie for me. I know everyone has down times and that is true of all of us. What I don't like is people who can never seem to see the good in even bad experiences. I had a friend who got into drugs, lost her job, then her house burnt down...all while going through a nasty divorce. She has moved to another town, cleaned up, and now is in college. She says the events of the past made her stronger and made her see the changes she needed to make to make her life better. Boy is that something to admire.

03/20/2005 | At least *mostly* optimistic is important to me. Randyman is right; the negativity-obsessed will suck you in to their world; ultimately such friendships are draining, and don't last (at least for me). Sometimes you have to support somebody in their times of need, but if they're needy 100% of the time something is wrong.

03/20/2005 | This is can be important. I have learned over the years to surround myself with optimistic friends. Nothing is worse than a negative person who dwells on everthing that has gone wrong with their life. They will stop at nothing to get you to join them in their misery.
