If I use the right to explain to others my beliefs, or lack thereof, I'd want my partner to be able to do likewise. Just don't try and shove propaganda down my windpipe, cause I'll shove a copy of Mao's Little Red Book down yours.

Not in the least bit important. As a friend I fully respect their committment to their particular beliefs, religious or otherwise and find it interesting to learn about their feelings. In return, I'm hopeful that they are as respectful of my independence of thought. I'm much more interested in whether they enjoy a good laugh, a good jaw over a beer, or dig listening to new music. But if I really thought about it, most of my freinds are either atheists, agnostics or secular humanists.

I am a Christian and I have friends who are not Christians but to be honest my closest friends are Christians because it is only natural for like faiths to bond. It is the same way with marriage in fact the Word of God warns us not to unite any other way (in marriage). If a Christian and a non-Christian married, it may be fine for a while but when children come into the picture problems will arise, this you can count on.

It is important to me to keep company of those that live parallel lives in terms of religious beliefs, but that does not free me from the obligation of giving respect, charity, aid, courtesy and love if need be to those outside my fold, hospitality is equally shown to everybody that enters under my roof.

This is not as important as I once might have thought. I have very good friends of differing faith and have no problem with any of them. If people respect each other this shouldn't matter.

None of my friends have the same religious beliefs as me, and we are still friends, so it's not that important to me. As long as they don't try to force their beliefs on me, then we are all fine.

I'm not religious at all; most of my friends aren't, but I have a good deal of friends who do have very strong religious convictions. They share with me their beliefs, but they don't pressure me into that religion, and we respect each other's beliefs. It's great to hear different viewpoints on topics like religion, and you can learn a lot from someone who is brought up differently than yourself. It's great to talk to people with similar beliefs as yourself, but it's equally, if not more so, enriching to see the world through a different viewpoint.

I consider myself a christian, however I would have no problems being friends with a person who has a different religion or not religious at all.I guess if I had a friend who had different beliefs than I did than, I would just say not to make it an issue. We all have a right to our religious beliefs. I think the only time I would consider it a problem is if they insisted that I only see their religious views.

Like Snoopy, I am also a Christian but I don’t let my religion prevent me from liking or having friendships with those of other faiths and belief systems – or those who have none at all. Though I appreciate friendship with other Christians very much, the way I see it disassociating yourself with anyone other than Christians would really be a very un-Biblical thing to do. Christ Himself spent much of His time on earth healing, loving and caring for those who did not fall into the “acceptable” category by the leaders of His faith and culture at the time including lepers, prostitutes, Romans, and a criminal who died on a cross next to Him. I believe we are to extend ourselves and love all people.

Shouldn't bother me but it does. I don't really mind people having a religion as long as they aren't fanatic and try to force their believes on me. However being an Atheist and being good friends with someone who take their religion very seriously I would probably get bored. I don't care what God did or didn't create, what the Koran says or doesn't say, what Buddha meant or didn't mean. It has no part of my interest. Sure the Bible can be interperated differently but I don't fancy hearing it. So before I make ties with a person I like to make sure that they're not too deeply rooted in religious believes. That would really cramp my style.

I'm Christian, but I can be friends with people of different religions, except for the fanatics. I have lots of both Christian and non-Christian friends.

Entirely superflouous. My best friend is a baptist and I am an agnostic. If one is truly a friend, religious beliefs mean nothing.
