 | muckingforon (0) 02/19/2007 | every world cup, we hear the same thing: "this time we're winning it!"
but they never get past the first round.
Indeed, there seems to be an unwritten rule -- if you can't reach world cup semifinals on home soil (which they had the opporunity to, twice), then you never will.

 | JAYZ (0) 02/14/2007 | Mexican National Team is a bunch of poor sports. They lose last week to the US National team and would not even shake their hands. What a bunch sore losers! Mexican soccer sucks, they think they are good, but they realy suck. Think of it Mexicans, if US kids (legal and those who would support this country even though they have immigrant descedants and cares about representing the USofA) concentrate and play soccer and grow up with this sport, they can dominate the Mexican soccer players and eventually the world. Won't be that long people, so start taking notice. This country has just began to support soccer and it's league, the MLS. MLS has only been 10 years old going 11 this year. so watch out because USA is coming into your town!!! U S A

 | SZinHonshu (45) 08/10/2005 | As a matter of principle I feel obligated to root against/say something negative about the Mexican National Soccer Team. Reason: In the late 90's, the Mexican squad played a match against Team USA at the Coliseum in Los Angeles. During the game (which was overwhelmingly attended by Mexican-Americans of the legal and illegal varieties; mainly because people born here mostly realize what a sucky spectator sport soccer is in comparison to basketball, baseball and football) garbage was thrown by members of the partisan crowd at the United States players. If this wasn't bad enough, the usual Latino apologists who frequent the Southern California political scene went on and on about how the fans weren't really being disrespectful to their adopted nation, it was just that, gee whiz ... they feel so passionately about soccer and were just rooting for the Mexican squad. FU-- THAT SH--! If you can't even show a modicum of respect to the country that educates your children and provides them w/ medical care free of charge, as well as allows you to earn approximately 300% to 500% more than you would where you were born, GET THE FU-- OUT! Believe me, we'll have no trouble replacing you whatsoever with immigrants from Eastern Europe, Africa and Asia who will be THRILLED to be here and will gladly unleash a torrent of thank yous and other appreciative remarks.
So in short, I have nothing against the Mexican National Team ... don't even know who the players are. It's like rooting against the Detroit Pistons - The team, no problem. The fans, a consummate disgrace.

 | magellan (174) 06/10/2002 | Don't be fooled by the score of Mexico's 2-1 win over Ecuador - this was as dominating a performance as you will see in a match between two world caliber teams. Mexico controlled the ball for more than 70% of the match and showed on the heels of their win over Croatia that they are a legitimate title contender. Even without much of a contribution from striker Blanco, Mexico looked like a scary, scary team the other night - I suspect that they will take down Italy next.
