 | PzKpfw VI E (28) 06/08/2006 | This list is so pathetic.
You have the US above a teams like England, France, the Czech Republic, the Ukraine and the Netherlands. The talent on the English team is nearly unrivaled. The defense consists of Neville, Ferdinand, Terry and Cole, plus two or three solid options of the bench.
The midfield consists of Beckham, Gerrard, Lampard and Cole, with another two or three solid options on the bench.
The striking duo of Rooney and Owen is very solid, especially when both are playing at their full potential. Plus, England has Dafoe and Crouch on the bench.
I can't even name a player on the US side better then any of these players. The US side won't even make it out of the group stage, even though they have come a long way since their beginnings.
You have the offensive powerhouse of the Czech Republic not even in the top 20. The team is below a few teams that aren't even in the World Cup! Peter Cech is one of the best goaltenders in the world. Their defense isn't the best but they have offensive talent led by the talented and intelligent Pavel Nedved and striker Milan Baros (who isn't all that impressive with Aston Villa, but is All-World when he plays in the World Cup or Euro Championships. He could be the Golden Boot; he and his team are that good)
Same goes for the Netherlands, who have are full of experience and talent. They are anchored by Var Der Ser in goal. Their defense is solid with van Bronckhorst, Boulahrouz, and Mathijsen.
Arjen Robben and Van Der Vaart make a solid partnership at midfield. Add to that players like Bommel, Sneijder and Cocu, and the midfield is solid.
Plus, they have strikers like (well, Robben can play striker) von Persie, van Nistelrooy, and Kuyt, who is a star in Holland.
Unlike the US and many of the teams ahead of them, the Netherlands well make it into the quarter-finals and (fingers crossed) may even meet Germany there.
Canada (!!!!) is above the Ivory Coast, Trinidad and Tobago, and Ghana. Has Canada been even close to qualifying for the World Cup? The only Canadian players I can think of are Hargraves, (who plays for Bayern Munich and England) Paul Stalteri and Thomas Radzinski.
People who know little about a list topic should not be able to rate that certain topic. It makes the site look pathetic.
Anyway, I am just ranting, but this list is of poor quality. There are teams that shouldn't even be on this list, because, SOME TEAMS AREN'T EVEN IN THIS WORLD CUP!

 | Taiko666 (0) 02/20/2006 | Music Man- I've just scanned your other football comments. Your seem to be the one with a chip on your shoulder. And England are cheating scum? Winners of the World Cup fair play awards in 1990 and 1998 (the year you accuse them of 'cheating' against Argentina.) When have you seen an English player rolling around pretending to be injured, like your beloved Argentinians? And as for being good sport... in 1998 after Argentina beat 10-man England on penalties (after Becks was ridiculously sent off after typical play-acting from the Argentinians) the Argentinian team behaved in a disgusting fashion, gloating, obscene gestures, and generally behaving like little brats. (This was after the English had offered congratulations) When England beat them in 2002, the Argentinians stormed off like spoilt little girls and refused to shake hands.

Overrated bunch of poofs.
Overhyped and typical chokers.
Haven't won a *single* tournament of importance since 1966 (except for some Home Nations mickey mouse tournaments). No Eurocups, no World Cups since.. and 1966 was in their home country, mind you.
For a country that invented the sport, you'd think they would be one of the best at it. Hope they keep losing because they don't deserve to be mentioned amongst great teams like Argentina, Brazil, and Germany.
That and they are fouling scum...

 | tibokke (0) 07/15/2005 | Often the best team in the tournament but they get unlucky (particularly when the ref advantages the oppponent, refusing valid goals) each time. But with the good players they have, playing in the best League in the world they are able to win the next World Cup, C'mon England !!!!

 | wigwam2002 (0) 10/24/2004 | England were unlucky in the world cup aginst Brazil, if Ronaldgoofio didnt fluke that goal, it woulda gone into extra-time and i think we would have got a golden goal! But beating France for 89-90 minutes in euro2004 shows we can beat any team in the world! (If we didnt have David Calamity James in goal)

 | Guava Monkey (4) 03/25/2004 | Very occasionally England can play with some flair although don't get over-excited about that 5-0 defeat of a very poor German team. The 2002 world cup showed England to be soild and well organised by still lacking the style of South American teams.

 | OrwellAn (1) 12/01/2003 | It'll be interesting to see how we'll we do in Portugal next year. Opener against France? That'll be quality!!! Then we'll see how good we REALLY are. I doubt we'll win, but if we don't make the semis or the final I'll be disappointed.

 | Teaseress (15) 05/15/2002 | We're getting good! With players like Beckham, Owen, Seaman and others, we stand a good chance with the World Cup this year. A very charismatic team who play fantastically well together.
