Compared to many airports this one is relatively nice, if at first confusing. The airport has undergone several changes over the past few years including the shutting down of a complete terminal and opening of a new one. Overall the airport is very clean. Restaurants are only available past security as the other food areas weren't "getting enough business," as one employee put it. The only real complaint I can make is the confusing multi-tiered flooring plan. It can be difficult for someone not familiar with the airport to get on the right level to meet people picking you up. I would recommend using the elevators as the escalators don't line up and aren't grouped together forcing you to find the other set of stairs to get to the next floor.

Arrival at McNamara Terminal from London on NWA was smooth and efficient. Uncharacteristically, Immigration Officers were polite! Baggage was delivered promptly, and transfer to onward NWA domestic flight was painless. A sports bar at the airport provides a haven for smokers, All in all, an excellent Airport

Nice clean airport, but a bit of a hike to change planes for different parts of the country.

Since the new security rules keep the panhandlers, Hare Krishnas and other freaks out, Detroit is a pleasure to use.

This airport's A terminal is pretty nice. Big open spaces, super high ceilings, good wifi, decent restaurants, and the best part about it is the shiny red tram that rolls by every few minutes up in the rafters. It sort of feels like Disneyland or something.

Terrible. If you connect there you have to walk forever to find a departure terminal display. When I finally found one it was directly in the sun and I couldn't even read it.

Not very attractive, but functional. It can be a bit of a walk to get to connecting flights.

I used to hate using this airport. I would fly from Toledo Express up to here to connect, and it would be a pain in the neck to switch planes. And then the "A" terminal was built. That was the end of my complaining. About 83 gates, serves every Northwest flight coming in and out, and the place isn't as crowded as the C or D terminals were. This was one airport that went from bad to great in a hurry.
