This is a great airport. It is less crowded then other area airports. I do most of my international travel out of Newark because the lines are short and the prices are cheaper than other airports in the area. Never had a problem!

I haven't flown since 9/11, but prior to that I flew pretty regularly, and also used to regularly pick up a friend flying in from California. Newark was easy to get to; a half-hour drive straight down Rt. 78, and finding parking and the proper terminal was never much of a problem. There were bars throughout the airport, and I sometimes would board my flights quite blitzed (I had never been frightened about flying...I was generally pretty fatalistic about it...but as I got older, my nervousness seemed to increase). Leaving the airport could be a problem, particularly if you're not familiar with that part of NJ (and sometimes even if you are). It was very easy to make a wrong turn and end up in one of the grimmer parts of Newark, a very grim city indeed. I was born there, used to work there, and have never had much of a problem traveling through it (I recently had to go there after an absence of several years in order to get a copy of my amended birth certificate), but there's a difference between driving down Broad Street at high noon, and stumbling down one of its more desolate regions in the middle of the night. This has happened to more than a few people I've known, and I imagine it would be a daunting prospect indeed for a native of Des Moines, Iowa, or Lincoln, Nebraska, who has never been in NJ before, much less Newark, and has no idea of where they're supposed to be going. It's been several years since I was a regular at the airport, and I've heard things have been extended and improved upon, but that's only hearsay.

Newark is much better than Kennedy, but I have to concede that it is no great shakes as an airport. Use LaGuardia for the Big Apple.

1.5 Better than Logan in Boston, but that's not saying much, it's hardly a thrilling place. It also is noisy and you're often late, and I don't like airports that are roughly the size of the diameter of Jupiter.

ALways dreaded going here when someone was coming into town, or I was departing. Difficult to get around if you aren't familiar, you could be lost for a day before you finally get to where you need to be. Always seems to be depressing coming home and arriving to this airport. So filthy.

Newark airport is the best of the 3 major airports in the New York area. It is very modern and easy to navigate around. The tram connects all 3 terminals and the parking areas making it very easy to get from your car to your gate. The airport is also loaded with bars, restaurants and shops.. a little something for everyone. The only downside is that it is ussualy somewhat crowded and has more delays then average.
