The Philadelphia is one of the worst airports that you can fly in and out of...most of these reviews second my sentiments. It is very confusing to get around here, and when you try and ask for help the airport are rude and flippant. It seems that anyone who works in the food court or for an airline thinks that they are in charge of homeland security - thanks for enforcing airport policy, but they could have a better attitude while doing so. It's already miserable to fly now a days, in the meantime what happened to customer service and the customer always being right??? I have a job too and if I talked to my customers that way I would surely be let go. The airport is pretty dirty, all the gate agents stand around and bitch constantly....and nevermind catching a flight on time. I have read some of the comments on here from the airport employees.....excuses, excuses, excuses. I have been to many of the surrounding area airports and they are operated not nearly as badly as this airport. The flights are delayed because they don't know how to manage airport traffic here and instead of having contingency plans - airline gate agents like to repeat the same thing over and over again...."Sorry, this is out of my control". No looking to see if they can get people home via other means, no letting you know that the flight has been canceled until 5 minutes before the flight is scheduled to take off, delays are common on every flight I have taken from here. Bottom line is that if I can avoid this airport, I do at all costs. Last, but certainly not least - there is a woman who works here named Linda Skinner....very rude, takes her job way too seriously and has no idea what it means to put the customer first. Hey Linda! if people didn't fly in and out of here you wouldn't have a job!!!!!!!!

I've personally never had a problem with the Philadelphia airport, but that's me. The lines for security can be a little long, which is annoying! Generally, everything is pretty tame there. I always get my bag so that makes me super duper happy!

WE travel out of this airport, as HIA is just as bad. THIS IS THE WORSE AIRPORT, NEXT TO OAKLAND. WE travel alot & I have emailed them & the FED. GOVT. about this. The women's restrooms are disgusting & most "do not" have doors! They do not have any carpeting, as when you take off your shoes you have to walk thru piles of dust & garbage!! Most "SECURITY PERSONNEL" are asleep or talking to someone else or on cell phones. PLEASE PHL~~~CK OUT TAMPA AIRPORT & SEE WHAT IS REALLY GOING ON IN CUSTOMER SERVICE!! & what about the walk from getting off your flight to collect luggage on disgusting luggage carrosel. Then try & get a shuttle to your car ...GOOD LUCK. You may wait over 1 hr. in the cold winds or if you're waiting for a shuttle to your hotel in the cold, you have to stand outside in the inclement weather...WHAT A MESS.........

I caught a flight a red eye flight from seattle to charlotte on us airways at the last minute the .flight was re routed to PHL.we landed around 5 am so the airport was not that busy.I just remember walking 30 minutes to the connecting gate .I would rather connect here than say atlanta or dfw any day.

I hear things all the time about how bad Philly is.....I chose to go through there this last trip because of all the airports connecting to Erie...figured they would have the least trouble with weather. On the way up no problems at all...on the way back...seems even when the weather there isnt that bad, there are a lot of delays. I understand the cancelation of a flight that made it to Erie but couldn'd land due to bad weather, but the next day I ended up changing my route. Why Philly was having so much trouble when other airports were having worse weather and connections from places with bad weather and were making their destinations. Other people in the Erie airport with me that had gone through Philly swore they would never do it again. I do knoow that you can get a beer with breakfast there! I was up so early to leave Knoxville that I wasnt thinking...I ordered a beer (others were drinking too) then realized it wasnt even 9:00am yet!!!

If you are looking for a nightmare experience in flying, try out the Philadelphia Airport. This airport is operating way over capacity, so there are very frequent delays, especially in the afternoon and evening. Any small perturbation causes chaos in the schedules. If you have to make connections in Philadelphia you need to allow for 2-3 hours minimum, especially with international flights. Then of course if your flight leaves from concourse A (mostly international flights) you better be in good shappe as you may have to run long distances to your gate to make it on time. And if you have to go to terminal F for the commuter flights, you are in for another treat. To top it off, most employees at the Phildelphia Airport are rude. So good luck if you have to fly throug Philadelphia!

The problem with delays are always explainable, however, nobody is bothering to try to change anything! The airport is NOT done - construction is still going on and you must still go through security twice if you want to go to a different terminal to get something other than Burger King for lunch. When you land, the aisle that they route you through is so small, people must go through single file and you better hope that the people in front of you walk at a reasonable pace. Bathrooms in all of the terminals are disgusting. The airport and restaurant help is slow, so be sure to allow extra time before your flights!

Sorry in all my flying, this airport is the worst I have ever been to!!! It was just the worst experience my wife and I have ever had!!! I have not been back since and it has affected my wife and I so much, we actually choose to pay more for a fight. (So as not to go through Philadelphia.) It may have improved and maybe, just maybe I may just try it once; WHEN I'M REALLY SHORT OF CASH!!!! Sorry if I had to say all the cons I would be here forever, allot have covered some of my complaints!!
Airport101 03/05/2007
I actually work at the airport, and to all you people who want to complain about it...you suck. First of all the reasons for so many delays is because of the location of the airport. We are so close to so many other airports like...NY and Washingtons, that when there is the slightest hint of bad weather we are last in line to take off, and not to mention that if planes are late coming in from OTHER airports that will also cause a delay, so hush, it happens. And for all u people that think the aiport it confusing, you are dumb, it goes A,B,C,D,E,F, WOW, now that's confusing, and the gates are also in order once you enter the terminal, talk about confusing!! NOT! From working there and recieving the most dumbest questions possible, I have realized that the general public are idiots and most of them can't read!!

I'm from Philly but haven't lived there in over 25 years. Over that last 5 years at least this airport went downhill in customer service. In the last year I have flown into Philly at least 20 times and all 20 times they have either lost my luggage, delayed my flight, rude customer service, workers sleeping on the rockers. If you ask me this airport is a disgrace!!!
galong05 04/24/2006
Poorly laid out, requiring long walks and shuttles from terminal to terminal. Tried to find the rental car counter (to book a car at final destination - not Philly) and was told I would have to leave the airport and take a shuttle. Unfriendly & unhelpful people as well.

I through philly on the way to europe and had a nice experience, i thought that the international terminal was beautiful and i had no problems. on the way back, however, immigration was a nightmare, i had to haul my bags 200 yards through customs only to recheck them, and then had to walk outside of the secure area and go back through security to connect to my other flight for absolutely no reason. moreover at the magazine shop i visited, the employee at the counter disappeared while numerous people were waiting to buy things. then U.S. airways bumped about 4 people off of every domestic flight...2 days before christmas. next time i'll fly direct to MSP.

The WORST airport I have ever had the misfortune to travel through. Some advice if you are flying into this airport-do not check your luggage. I have never flown into Philly and had to wait less than one hour (no, I am not exaggerating) for my luggage no matter what time of day or day of the week. Also annoying was the time my flight was diverted from the original gate and terminal but my luggage still went to the original terminal's baggage claim-with no direction from the airline or airport about where the luggage went. A fellow passenger finally figured it out. The parking there is a nightmare, too. There are lots of things to love about Philly, but the airport sure isn't one of 'em.

Pretty much what an airport should be. Off I-95, just at the edge of the city. Hotels nearby and rental car places nearby. Can be reached easily by public transportation. A hub for some airlines and shopping in terminals to keep you occupied.

Not a bad airport facilty but it is famous for having so many delays. One time I was stuck out on the runway in the jet for 2 hours simply because they had malfunctiong radio aircraft control. Sitting stuck out on the runway with seatbelts fastened and no beverage service for 2 hours sucks !!! In the future I will try to avoid connecting at this airport and I reccomend you do too if you can help it.

Easy to get lost in. Took me half an hour to find the gate I needed to get to.

Has been a nightmare since you know when. Once flew in from Italy in 2002. I estimate that I was queued up for an ID check FIVE times at the International terminal. Then I was made to walk OUTSIDE of the airport to get to my concourse. From there, I had to go through another 5 lines asking for my ID (including being rescreened). You would wait 20 minutes in one line, only to be herded into yet another long line. Though I had a 5 hour layover, I got to my gate just before boarding (Got to sit in a full flight next to a baby). I heard of 7-10 hour delays from other people going through Philly International. I refuse to book U.S. Air as Philly is their major hub.

We flew from Philly to Buffalo - a 45 minute flight. We waited in a que line to take off -- for 45 minutes! This must be such a routie occurence that Expedia.com built that extra 45 minutes into our 'travel time' summary!

It took forever to build, but the new PHL airport is a model of efficiency and attractiveness, and especially user-friendly for international travelers.

Just flew into the new international terminal which was beautiful. A great airport as airports go.

Philly's brand new international terminal makes all the difference - now the best gateway to Europe from the U.S.
willum 05/13/2003
In recent years, PHL has metamorphosed from uggly duckling to beautiful swan. The most recently completed terminal for international flights puts JFK to shame.
Macc 05/02/2003
Philly's new terminal for international flights is the best in the U.S. - just opened in 2003.
CanadaSucks 02/11/2003
A dump. . .average airport at best. When you cross the bridge, it smells awful.
magellan 12/07/2001
For a relatively small airport, Philadelphia International is surprisingly badly laid out. There are long walks to get to the baggage claim and the garage. In order to loop your car around to get to the terminal again, you have to cross a highway. It's not a terrible airport, but it sure isn't a good one.
