The book was in perfect condition. Never been used and just like the description said. The content is very thorough, and a cd comes with it to make your life much easier. If you are looking for a new way to do daily language - this is it!

Caught'ya Grammar uses an on-going story with lots of grammatical errors to teach grammar. I am using this book for a homeshcool co-op group. They love it and so do the moms. We've turned it into a boys v. girls competion. Once a week, each team corrects one sentence on the board. They get 1 point for each correction they find, but the other team gets 2 points if they "catch" something the team missed. I send them home with one sentence/day for the rest of the week. I send the corrections by email and the students turn their papers in at the end of the week when we meet. I've worked out a system for the teams to earn points for this homework as well. The students really are catching on to some things they didn't know in the beginning.

I'm using this with Honors 7th grade ELA students whose editing skills aren't quite up to where they need to be for our state assessment (with a dreaded editing passage!). The kids love the story & the vocabulary is fantastic. These little activities have given my students countless new ways to insult younger siblings--odious, puerile, martinet--what great words! I love this book, and the accompanying CD is worth its weight in gold! Do not hesitate to buy! Keister provides step-by-step instructions on how to do these & how she grades them. However, rather than having students copying down the incorrect Caught'yas and then fixing them, I made up worksheets (by copying and pasting from the CD) with the incorrect Caught'yas that students then use editing marks to fix--essentially paralleling our state assessment.

This has been a fantastic addition to my 6th grade Language Arts classroom! I'm amazed at how well my "reluctant" students are doing with it and surprised at the general enthusiasm to continue the "story" each day. It allows the students to have a consistant "bell ringer" that isn't just busywork. It is also a great way to interact with the students on an individual level and assess needs as far as GUM (grammar, usage, mechanics) goes. I love the CD--I put the daily Caught 'Ya it on a Power Point and have a seperate slide for each period so I an correct in each period without having to rewrite. This was a great buy and I can't wait to see how it works through the year!
