Very influential-and modest,too:he admitted his brother Henry was the more brilliant.

Primarily interested in psychology and religion. James' concept of human nature was far more accurate than those of the Freudians and behavioralists, whose ideas dominated psychology for most of the 20th Century. His work on mysticism remains the best on the subject.
