Ok, but there's not a lot to it.

Never played it- but do you get to choke the loser?

For a game that has such basic rules yet still has a relatively high level of strategy and skill, it's had to ignore Othello. As RIA has yet to include a description, most now probably know this game by its original incarnation, Reversi, and it was a popular computer program that played on early versions of Windows. Players alternately place their black/white chips down to bookend the opposing colors, resulting in those middle chips flipping to the player's color. The player with the most colored ships showing at the end wins. The game was ultimately renamed Othello (obviously after the Shakespearean play) by the Japanese and became popular in the mid 1970's. Like Chess, this game has no chance factor, but it differs in that the strategies are less complex (e.g. corner pieces).

I stink at it, but it's fun.

Such a simple, straightforward game, and yet there's strategy involved. I just like it.

This is a great board game. It's incredibly easy to learn, so you don't have to spend a lot of time teaching new people to play, but there is still a lot of strategy that you can come up with, similar to checkers. I remember the ad for this game when it came out as being "A minute to learn, a lifetime to master," which is a pretty true slogan.
