At least it stops people getting rubbish presents. It's also a good gift for second cousins and the like when you don't know what the hell they want.

I say this is the perfect gift for women, because i have experienced this having sisters. It seems like whatever you buy them is not right. Just get them a gift certificate, and let them shop for themselves. It saves you horrific time!

I recognize the practicality and necessity of gift certificates, I personally just find them kind of impersonal, but that's just me. They are great for that person who you have no idea what to get.

I love receiving gift certificates to my favorite stores. I even ask for them. I usually like getting books and music for Christmas but I do not know what I want. So this gives me a chance to get what i want. We almost always but gift certificates for some of the people on our list at Christmas time. I have rarely come across anyone who does not like to get certificates. If i get a certificate and I find something that costs more than the certificate,I do not mind paying the difference. My kids are at the age where they LOVE it when they get gift certificates to their favorite places they even request them as presents.It sure helps with the hard to buy for persons on our list. It sure beats giving them a certificate to a store they like instead of seeing that look of disappointment on their face and a fake Oh thanks for something i can see they do not like.

To all you girls looking to get a present for your boyfriends, A gift certificate is something you can't go wrong with! Get one from the local malls. That way, the guy can get himself what he exactly wants.

While some may make the point that gift certificates aren’t really a good gift because you don’t take the time to actually shop for the item, I love them. And, because of my time restraints, choose to give them as gifts often. I’d rather give someone a gift certificate to one of their favorite stores than give them something they’ll either trash or never use. By giving them a gift certificate, I feel that I’m giving them something they’ll actually use or want.

It's not the greatest gift just because it's not personalized, but at the same time, it's very practical, especially if you don't know what the recipient already owns from that store, or what she would want. I think it depends on the individual and how close you are to her.

I do enjoy receiving gift certificates to my favorite clothing store, book store, even a home and garden store. You can find great deals after Christmas and not only do you get the gift of the merchandise, but the gift of some time to shop around and choose something..or pick up something you have been wanting to purchase. However, I do understand that gift certificates aren't that fun to give. Even if the recipient is pleased, you just don't get that same feeling or look on their face you would if you found that perfect gift. I recommend gift certificates for the "person who has everything" and is difficult to buy for. If you are in a time crunch, gift certificates are a life saver.

Gift certificates are a great gift. It's wonderful to be able to select exactly what you want and not be saddled with lots of stuff you'll never use. When I was a teacher, I often received gift certificates to bookstores, and I absolutely loved them. With so many stores offering wide varieties of merchandise, you really can't go wrong giving a woman a gift certificate.

Sometimes it’s just really hard to decide what in the world to get someone. I have that problem when shopping for my mother these days. As for me, I don’t mind getting gift certificates from my favorite stores. One thing about them is that you can be sure of getting what you want, that it will fit and, if you like to shop right after Christmas, you can almost be certain to catch some good sales!
