Clothes can be an iffy thing to get for someone else. First of all you would have to know their size.Getting the wrong size for them can cause trouble. if you get something to big it is insulting them. too small they feel embarrased and now have to tell the gift buyer that it is the wrong size. Also Style of clothing. Unless you know exactly what the person likes, they will not want to wear it.I know I would not want to wear something that is not my style.I know of some family members who insist on buying clothes for others and then they get mad at the person receiving the clothes if they do not want the clothing item.I only buy clothes as a gift if i know exactly what they want. I have seen to many stores the day after Christmas with people returning the clothes they did not want.

Well first of all i would like to say that clothes are not what makes the person. Everyone is unique and thats what matters, even if they wear something old and tattered. Everyone has a differnt personality and clothes do no always bring it out. Some people might wear lots of black clothes, but that might not mean they are a dark dismal person. Impressions are what usueally judge other peoples thoughts. If you turned up to a party wearing some realy cool clothes people would say really nice comments about you. But what would they say if you turned up in your PJ's or some old clothes? It's not whats on the outside that counts...it's the inside. Everyone is unique and everyone has a right to distribute their thoughts and views without being mistreated because if their sense of fashion. So finally I would like to say that Clothes don't make the person, Clothes are just there to keep us out of jail.

I don't mind receiving clothes as a gift. However I do not like to give clothes as a gift. To me that is something they can buy. I like to be more creative in my gift giving and clothes just are not that creative.

Clothes are really something that should be picked out by the person who is going to wear them. Something I think is stylish might not be stylish to the unfortunate receiver of the gift. Unless these are pre-chosen gifts by the person who will receive them, I don't think giving clothes for a gift is a really good idea.

I agree with Molfan that giving clothes as a gift can be iffy. Unless you know exactly what a woman wants and the size she wears, clothes should probably be avoided. I hate it when I receive clothes that don't fit or that are not my style, and I have to wear them in order to be a good sport. If you must give clothing, do so in the form of a gift certificate.

I think most women enjoy getting clothes as a gift. But it can sometimes be tricky getting the right fit or style. I usually have to try things on and a clothes-buying trip to the store can be a frustrating experience even when I do it on my own. I pity anyone trying to do that for me. I usually have the best luck with loose fitting, comfortable sweaters, tops and skirts. I can’t tell you how many odd-fitting pairs of slacks I’ve had to return though!

I really love getting clothes as a gift, as long as the person knows my style well enough. I am not very hip, so giving me one of the off the shoulder halters with a slit up the the hip miniskirt would definitely be returned. Make sure you are in tune with the receivers style and personal preferences when giving clothes.
