Not a good idea. If you're getting a guy some art, you better know that he's into it. The cost to appreciation ratio is likely to be extremely high if you're getting art for the average guy.

For me, this would be something that would definitely be a surprise on Christmas morning. The main reason for that is my favorite painters are Van Gogh and Monet, and none of my relatives and friends have 20 or 30 million bucks to buy me a Christmas present with. Don't get me wrong, I would love to get a Van Gogh or Monet for Christmas, but it ain't gonna happen. Now, a print of one of their paintings might be alright, but I have specific tastes, so it would be a hit or miss type of thing.

Boring! You can't listen to music from it, you can't play games on it. This should be on the 'gifts for women' category.
