I prefer not to use it for school things, but many times, I'm forced to.

Research is a very important part of my being on the web. I find new things to be interested in, new ways to make a bit of money on the net from sites that pay, find things that exist in my own area that I did not know about, resources for friend (searched google for the terms hard to employ and my city name, which helped us find an agency that would get him working again after a long period of unemployment). I research purchase that I want to make, and get the best price, for the best quality item. I cannot imagine what I did without the net all my life.

The internet revolutionized my business/practice/work life. It has created different ways for me to earn money that I never even imagined when I was a younger man. Starting in the late 90's (when I first started using the web), it sent me in all sorts of directions that I wouldn't have convceived or imagined without access to the WWW. The best thing that can be said about computers and the internet is that it/they is/are almost the equivalent of instantaneous information. I research all manner of things by computer. Business related and of personal interest.

This is my prime use of the internet. Virtually any question, whim, idea can be found in some respect on the net if only to provide a path for future research if needed. It is an invaluable resource with the proviso that you don't believe something simply because you found it on the net.

When you think about it, when you are on the internet, no matter what you are doing you are researching.

As a home schooling parent, I have used the web to find many wonderful sites for both materials and companies to order books from. I not only use the web for that, but I also use it to learn how to do a great many of the things I enjoy doing. Recently for example, I used information I got off the internet to make my own soaps, lotions and shampoos. So the possibilities are endless as to what one can find on line. I enjoy having a great deal of material at my fingertips. This saves on gas because I live a good distance from any library that might carry this information.

I have learned so many things from the internet in the last 4 years than I would have ever thought possible. Of course there is alot of crapola, but I pride myself on being a critical thinker and am able to weed through the nonsense. There is an inordinate amount of trivial information on the net, but the facts are there as well if you know how to find them.

I think of the WWW as a vast frontier of information that is available right at my fingertips. It's so easy and convienient to just go to a search engine, type in a few words, and get thousands and thousands of pages of information on that topic. As a High School student, I don't know what I would do if I did not have the internet to help me do my research for essays, projects, etc. And I am very interested in past Presidents now, and a variety of sources has made me a near expert on Presidential history.

I have done so much research via the net that I have completely neglected my set of Britannica encyclopedias. There isn't anything that you can't find here on the internet.

The internet is an excellent research tool, if you know where to look--just as long as you remember that many sites can be inaccurate (any yahoo can put up their own website with opinions that they call fact, it doesn't mean it's right), may have plagarized from another source, etc., and if you watch out for things like that, then you can sort out the mess of information that you can get and find what you really need.

I'm fifteen, and I've been using the Internet for three years. My research for schoolwork like homeworks, projects and papers have attributed to my accurate and updated information and broadens my ideas. It's not only a one-stop library, you can simulate ideas that could be perceived from communicating with people all over the world. It helped me achieve my A's so I couldn't imagine studying without the Internet. There is a danger of being too dependent, but it's a matter of control and value for education anyway. *shrug*

when we got on the internet, the number one reason for getting it was the ability to do research. It is so cool to have a library right at your fingertips. After four years I am still in awe when I can type in few words for something I would like to research and up comes all these pages to visit. this has been great for my kids who have assignments for school to study on a subject.I can think of so many times I have had a question about something whether it was just fun trivia. or a more serious subject and the interesting information that comes up. I have found fun forums like ASK JEEVES,that help find information. If anyone asked me the positive side of getting on the internet i would have to say that all the research you can find can be worth it.

As a college student, I don't know what I would do if I didn't have the internet as a place where I could find research materials. The only thing is that it's a little difficult to sometimes verify the accuracy of the material that is being presented in a website. There is a lot of misinformation out there in the world wide web. But nonetheless, it is a heck of a lot easier than using the old card catalog system. It's kind of banal looking through a bunch of rusty old books for materials, but hey, there's a lot of stuff there too if you have the time and patience.

I'm really not sure what I did before Web access. Whether it be where to see a movie, who won last night's game, how my stocks are doing, what the name of track 3 on the new U2 CD, there is no easier, faster way than the Web to find the info that you are looking for. And it's only going to get better as more info gets placed on the Internet and as search engines improve.

This for me is one of the major pluses of the Internet. It's like having a major library - or several - at your fingertips. I use it at work to add to my web design knowledge, collect graphics and at home to learn about film trivia, health, shopping, and price comparison and about a million other topics. With everything available out there in WWW land you do have to learn to be discriminating and check your sources - ie, stick with the major players and names you can trust - places like webster.com, imdb.com, webmonkey and many others. It's kind of like Internet shopping - you have to make sure - as much as possible - that you're dealing with a reputable group. What I wouldn’t have given to have had this technology available to me when I was writing research papers in high school and college! All you who have it now thank you lucky stars you do not have to do it the old-fashioned, plodding way.

As a college student, I tend to use the Internet for research quite often. You have to be careful to make sure that the information is accurate though, because anything can get on-line.
