I purchased the AL391 Urika to replace an 20+ year old Remington 1100; on balance it was a mistake. I wanted the option of 3-inch chamber; the 1100 was 2 3/4 only. I find the Beretta somewhat lighter and certainly easier to carry for upland hunting. It points well but I have several faults with it:1) Mechanical reliablility: In spite of diligent and repeated cleaning the weapon fails to cycle about 20% of the time with standard 1 1/8 steel shells. It ejects withour fail but the bolt hangs up and does not fully chamber the second round. 2) Cloeaning complexity: more parts and more hassle than the 1100 ever was 3) wood finish: the 391 has a mat/satin finish that is very attractive but tends to chip easily. In waterfowl use which is tough on any weapon, it has acquired dings that chip the finish but do not pierce the wood.Would I buy it again??? Tough call, I like the handling characteristicsw but the mechanical feeding problems are a major disappointment. The 1100 worked...any time and everytime.

This is my second Berreta, the other being a white Onyx. High quality firearms at a decent price. I love the comment questioning Beretta making shotguns; if you don't know about Baretta's you buy your guns at the auto parts store. Good gun, worth the extra money over an 1100, (made in Russia now?).

I've shot quite a few semi-auto shotguns in the past. However, I never thought I would ever enjoy shooting one as much as I enjoy shooting my 391 Gold Sporting. This is by far the best semi-auto I have ever shot.

Shot 4000+ rounds in 2 1/2 days with no malfunctions. Easily the best value out there.

To the person who claims the shotgun killed his friend: It did not. The person who pulled the trigger killed your friend.

This is a great semi-auto. There's a reason why this is the only semi-auto that my gun range rents. This gun was recently rated the #2 overall gun for duck hunting and the #1 semi-auto (the #1 was the 870 because of longevity and price). The only drawback (if it matters to you) is that it has a longer LOP then other semi-autos in it's price range. However Beretta can be easily adjusted. I believe this gun to be the best sub $1000 semi-auto in the market.
