On Saturday June 27th my mother's car was towed to AOK auto at 3am. At 9am that Saturday I contacted them but could not get the manager to call me back. I tried three times between 9 and 1030 that morning. I then informed the person that I was sending a tow truck to recover my mother's car, when I made this statement the manager spoke with me. He wanted my business but as he was on the south side and I and my mother are 30 miles away I wanted the car towed to our local dealer. He then informed me that I could not get the car until Monday. Monday I called and was told that the tow to their shop (2.03 miles) was $425, I asked why but was told they didn't know. In addition to this there was a $50 a day storage fee ($150 from 3am Sat until 11am Monday) plus $125 administrative fee. The total bill was $700, I realized I was not dealing with an honest business as soon as I questioned these charges and they could not explain or justify them. I paid up in order to avoid any more fabricated additional charges. The Better Business Bureau web site BBB.org rates this shop an F and I can understand why

This is a response to the prior review. I am Tom the manager of A-OK Automotive Inc. and car in review was written by the insurance company and that is how we repair per their guidelines. The powersteering was not related to the accident it was a dryed out o-ring which we fixed at no charge. The windshield they claimed was part of the accident was replaced by the insurance company anyway even though there was a rockchip under the windshield wiper. The owners boyfriend verbally attacked the insurance adjuster while he was looking the car over on the reinspection.
There was a small air leak on the side that was repaired and when the car was returned we we fixed it. The door was replaced with one out of a salvage yard and yes I did miss it had a polished finish instead of a brushed finish which we took care of right away. I take pride in what we do and I am proud of the quality of repairs. I am sorry those two items were missed but it was repaired right after it was brought to our attention.
In the auto repair industry.There are always two side of a story and I do not feel in the review that all the facts were given. There was also two insurance companies reviewing this claim, so the time frame to repair this car took longer than expected. We cannot just fix everything wrong on a repair we must have the insurance companies approval prior to completeing. We had to wait for both companies to review this claim.

HORRIBLE BODY SHOP!!!! IT TOOK A-OK ALMOST 3 MONTHS TO FIX MY CAR, THEN WHEN I WENT TO GO LOOK AT MY CAR TO SEE HOW THE REPAIRS ARE GOING THEY HAD THE WRONG PARTS ON IT (DIFFERENT DOOR HANDLES THAN THE OTHER SIDE)! TOM THE SO CALLED MANAGER WILL LIE TO YOU, HE SAYS THEY HAVE THE BEST MECHANICS SUPPOSIDLY OUR POWER STEERING WENT OUT AFTER SITTING AT A-OK FOR 2 MONTHS (BUT THIS WAS NOT PART OF THE ACCIDENT) THEY WANTED ME TO PAY FOR THAT, WHEN I FOUGHT MY INSURANCE TO DO A "TIER DOWN" ON MY CAR TO SEE WHAT WAS WRONG WITH IT THEY FOUND IT WAS SOMETHING MINOR LIKE A GASGET THAT WAS MISSING, BUT IF I DIDN'T KNOW BETTER I WOULD HAVE JUST PAYED THEM FOR A POWER STEERING PUMP THAT WAS NOT EVEN OUT. THEN WHEN I FINALLY GOT MY CAR BACK, THE DOOR THEY REPAIRED HAD AIR COMING OUT OF IT, THEY SAID THEY WERE DONE WITH THE REPAIRS I THEN HAD TO CONTACT MY INSURANCE COMPANY YET AGAIN AND HAVE AN INSPECTION OF MY CAR, WHEN THE INSPECTION WAS DONE I WAS TOLD THERE WERE SEVERAL THINGS THAT WERE NOT REPAIRED PROPERLY! I THEN HAD TO TAKE IT BACK THERE SO THEY CAN FIX IT, DID THEY FIX IT NO CAUSE I STILL HERE AIR COMING THRU THE BACK DOOR, A-OK IS A VERY SHADY BODY SHOP I THINK THEY ARE OUT TO MAKE MONEY AND THAT IS THE BOTTOM LINE, THEY DON'T DON'T RETURN YOUR CALLS FOR DAYS, OH AND TOM IS ALWAYS BUSY (IF YOU WALK IN HE'S USUALLY AT HIS DESK) OH AND AFTER GOT MY CAR BACK AFTER MONTHS ITS SMELLED LIKE DIRTY MECHANIC THEY DIDN'T EVEN HAVE THE DESINCY TO CLEAN IT UP, TAKE IT FROM ME YOU WILL NOT BE HAPPY IF YOU LEAVE YOUR CAR THERE. OH AND ON ONE OF THE OCCASIONS I WAS THERE CHECKING ON MY CAR SOMEONE ELSE WAS COMPLAINING ON HOW LONG THERE CAR WAS THERE FOR. PLEASE DON'T TAKE YOUR CAR THERE UNLESS ITS A JUNKER AND YOU REALLY DON'T CARE!
