Totally addicted to these books. The books are long, but thank god they are because its sad to finish the series and leave these characters behind.

This was a great series to read. Once I picked up each book, I literally spent the next few days just reading. Gabaldon has done a fantastic job of developing her characters. They seem almost human, so you can't help caring about them and what happens to them through out the story. Strong characters and an interesting plot, make for a very good read.

The Outlander series has held me captive for years. I've often thought about who would play each character if the books were turned into movies. I'm certain there is not a man alive that is worthy or capable of portraying Jamie the way I have him envisioned. And Mel Gibson does NOT cut it. Liam Neeson could do a mean Ian Murray though.. These books are some wonderful reading. Gabaldon is a pro at character development. The love story of Jaime and Claire just pulls you in and the historical context makes it very interesting as well. If you like these books you should also check out, Lord John Grey and the Private Matter, her newest spinoff book on the Outlander series. I like that one a lot too.

Without a some of the most enjoyable moments every spent reading. I am a voracious reader. I read everything, and this series is by far one of my top three favourites. Gabaldon is outstanding in many aspects of her craft, but mostly, in my mind, weaving a story from the threads of everyday circumstance. The power of these books lies not in the adventure, not in the fantasy, not in the romance, not in the history, but in the story of two people and how all of the above shapes their lives. The everyday sitting by the hearth bits are the best. She's a master.

The best books I have ever read. I recommend them to everyone I know, and sometimes in the book store, I recommend them to strangers.
