The best Audi my family owned, offered excellent on road manners (luxury and comfortable ride) and very impressive off road skills...and I don't mean dust roads neither...due to the height adjustable suspension and Quattro all standard.

If you don't own, or use an Audi or any vehicle, on a regular basis, vehicle opinions from observers should be disregarded as they aren't speaking from experience. I've had my 01 Allroad tiptronic for several months, bought w/50k on the odo and optioned to the max. Winter/Summer/Navigation packages w/twin spoke wheels. Very satisfied, but did research in advance. Some options were no longer available after the '02 model, but the V8 was, beginning in 04. The 250hp V6 is fine; get the 6 speed for best control. Like most all Audis, it doesn't hold its value, so someone's $50k purchase was my $20k purchase. What else in the marketplace provides such luxuries, safety, uniqueness, style & value for $20k? Acceleration is fine, but it is turbocharged so it is helpful to have the engine spinning over 2000 rpm for best acceleration. Chips are readily available on the aftermarket for tuning the engine and/or transmission shift points (use the manual shift for best control). Have enjoyed Quattro model Audis for about 15 years (one w/237k original-engine no significant oil consumption). All wheel drive in the Quattro system is not just a Winter benefit; anytime you need to move-out quickly, rain or shine, you MOVE without effort wasted on tire slippage. Reliability has NEVER been a problem, the cars are in the Mercedes/BMW league. These "luxury cars" have frequently been left in the rear-view mirror because of their two-wheel drive systems.

delayed but great accelaration. off-set wheelbase makes the car shake when you reach speeds over 60mph.

$40,000 for starting price for a wagon? Consumer Reports has listed them as "terrible" in reliability, and they are. Ever see how many are in used car lots? I have. This would have some value if it wasent extremely over priced.

We have a new 2003 Audi allroad quattro. This is an amazing car with do-anything capability, supreme comfort, beautiful styling, and carefully thought-out features. Too early to determine absolute reliability as of yet, but our 1999 A6 Avant has been trouble-free at 60,000 miles. We love them both!! Highly recommended!!
