I am a single man looking to get married and I was interested in doing my homework before getting into a relationship of marriage. This book is so well written and has so many practical examples that if practiced properly along with the teachings of the Quran and sunnah and the will of the Almighty, marriages will flourish. I recommend this book to anyone interested in establishing, developing, and maintaining a fruitful marriage.

Blissful marriage is a comprehensive book which realistically addresses many facets of the typical marriage. I especially liked the chapter devoted to using questionnares to help in identifying a compatible spouse; I felt the process could be very revealing and useful. Both authors convey their message simply and easily understood which is why this book is so appealing and enjoyable to read. Also helpful were the case studies presented towards the end of the book where both partners of the marriage were given advice in finding a practical solution to many common problems facing marriages today.

I would highly recommend this book to people of all ages, either young or mature adults contemplating marriage or married couples sincerely trying to make their marriage a blissful experience!

As a new Muslim, I found this book to be very helpful because it thoroughly and clearly explains some of the most important qualities of a truly Islamic marriage. For example, it describes, with vivid and practical examples, how Muslim spouses must treat each other.

I also found that the explanation of Qawamah was very clear and it really set my mind at ease. After reading it, I now know the importance, and feel capable, of finding a spouse who also has a good understanding of Qawamah.

The book includes a questionnaire for readers to give to potential spouses. You can use it just as it is, or as a starting point for developing your own questionnaire. The most important part about it, is that it helps you focus on the important characteristics of a potential spouse.

I recommend this book to all new Muslims who are considering marriage, who want a deeper understanding of what an Islamic marriage is like, or who are looking for insight into how to approach marriage from an Islamic perspective.

The book starts with some overwhelming facts about the family crises in North America and their impact on Muslim families. It outlines the main objectives of marriage and carries a lengthy questionnaire that was specifically written to identify the main characteristics of each candidate, male and female, who is considering to get married. This questionnaire helps to ensure proper spousal selection. Then, in a very pleasant manner, the authors describe the essentional ingredients for a successful marriage. These ingredients make up the desired qualities and attributes that each spouse is encouraged to strive for. Particular emphasis is placed on the proper understanding of Qawamah and the Status of women in Islam, two widely misunderstood concepts amongst muslims and non-muslims alike. Special attention is given to Tazkiyatu Annafs (purification and cleansing of oneself) and its importance in creating a strong and capable personality. By referring to the way of Prophet Muhammad, may peace be upon him, as well as to the Qur'an, the authors have systematically addressed contemporary topics that affect both the married and singles out there.
The matching questionnaires included in the book are a tried and true way to get to know a possible mate in a way that is Islamic, friendly and comprehensive. I highly recommend them for anyone going through the early stages of knowing a possible mate.
Imagine, rather than ackward silences, potential couples would instead have an easy way to find out how the other person thinks about important issues that would affect their life together.
Later chapters then offer excellent advice to keep marriages alive and well. Plus, the book's got humour, too, with a cute list of recipes that really work!
By putting the advice into practice, couples of all faiths can discover how wonderfully satisfying it is to work as a team - whether newlywed or celebrating a golden anniversary!
