They're a really great band and I enjoy how unique the lead singer's voice is, along with their sound. I don't think I've heard any band quite like them.
The only thing I dislike about S.O.A.D are their lyrics. Sometimes they have awesome lyrics, but other times I'm not even sure what they're talking about.

System of A Down was some bad noise. I was glad to see them call it a day. Unfortunately, Serj Tankian is now assaulting my ears with solo work.

I think they are a great rock band but some of their songs straight-up suck and they are moving towards the tubes at an alarming rate.

I give System of a Down credit for their unique style. They can't be criticized for ripping off anybody else's sound. There is a lot of passion in their music as well, however I can't get into their sound enough to want to listen to it for more than a few minutes.

another one of those bands that you either hate or love. Even though I don't like all their music i still give them 4/5 because they have a unique sound that noone can copy and the lyrics are so deep it blows me away.

Oh feck it. One of the things in life that really fecks me off is when anyone says stuff like ' if you dont like so and so, then you dont know anything about music'.  Feck off will ya. There are comments of this here nature viz SOAD. So, they arent quite your run of the mill metal act and write 'meaningful' lyrics. So fecking what. I dont listen to music to get an education in politics, current affairs blah blah. I'd go to university and do a degree for that. Anyway you never get a balanced critique from bozos in rock bands, just their own warped lefty views. This bloke at work was raving about them so I had to borrow a couple of albums. Quite frankly I really cant see what the fuss is all about. They're saved from 1 star because at least they avoid cliched guitar wank that you get with most rock bands - fecking double taps, whammy bar divebombs and all that shit.

System is a really good band, they aren't really metal though they're more of a weird rock. Personally I really like the band, but I know alot of people that outright hate them. They're really unique so its a sort of either you love em or hate em kinda bands.

Saying a "bit unique" is probably an understatement. They're definitely worth a listen.

Amazingly creative. In a day and age when so many bands are sounding the same these guys have an entirely different sound than anything else out there.

To haters : Yeah right ... go listen to greenday , simple plan , linkin park ... At the very least , SOAD have diversity in their songs , those f*ckin nu-metal bands just play 1/2 riff throughout the song . Where the f*ck is creativity and talent in that type of performance ?
LP new album is a proof of how suck nu-metal can be . Try Metallica , Megadeth , The kinks , Beatles before it's too late ...

Out of the absolute garbage rock that these recent years have produced, System are pretty much the ONLY band (exception maybe being Korn) who are any good. They're catchy, they're talented and they're damn original! 'Chop Suey' 'Aerials' + 'BYOB' are good.

Another terrible modern band with depressing, harsh lyrics and just a strange image overall.

May I propose a substitute, "System of No Frown?" ^_^

Whoever said that S.O.A.D sucked...yeah you dont know what real music. its not the music you have to listen to, it's the lyrics. they're very poltiical and religious and their music has deep meaning. so dont diss the System unless you know what real music is.

wow these guys suck. the music they play doesn teven have a beat its just noise. i love metal music but these guys jeeze its not even music they suck so much its not even funny. they are gunna end up killing themselves over something stupid they are too angry and they suck worse than anything.

I give this band 3 stars simply because it's likely they'll go blow themselves up someday, most likely in a Synagogue. That said, they're by FAR the best of all the nu-metal crap.

System of a down is the best metal band to hit the face of the planet. its not just meaningless screaming with hard rock music for 3 minutes, they actually have singing talent, good variety of music styles and can write a decent meaningful song with good lyrics. the good in soad u losers cant see is beyond me but its good that not everyone loves them bcoz while u hardcore punk chicks go listen 2 ur crappy green day and simple plan us real people can enjoy good music without idiots runnin around goin im a hardcore punk chick i love soad look at my funky converse shoes!!!

Ultimate and unbelievable junk. How people can bear through his whiny castrated vocals and his thick foreign accents that controversially attack the United States is way beyond me. These idiots need to flip through a few books for reference and play hell a lot more than three riffs of nu-metal garbage in order to compose a solid song. Whoa, I just mentioned a solid song in reference to Syndrome of a Down. Hahah, funny me, somebody sign me up for a stand up performance.

NO TALENT, NO MELODY, NO STYLE, NO SOUL. IT'S METAL FOR MALL GOTH KIDS WHO JUST LISTEN TO METAL TO BE ACCEPTED. THIS BAND HAS LITTLE TALENT. Their harmonies are impressive and deserve some listening, Serj Tankjan's voice is great, and some good tunes. Not bad at all.

It is simply impossible not to like this band. The melody- Gitar solos. Serj's voice is unique he can hit the high note and yet still rap. This music is not generic unlike some bands who stick to the tried and tested- these guys are not afraid to talk about real issues. Thes REAL issues are more commonly known as LIFE!! So this band have depth to their music but you can still go insane to them. Possibly one of the future ledgends of rock

Oh my god! Who doesn't like System Of A Down? Who ever doesen't is a total jackass! System Of A Down is one of the best bands out there! They are kick ass awesome. I have all of there albums. I absolutly can't believe that there are more people that hate them than people that love them! Who ever likes heavy metal ought to like system of a down damnit. I'm going to keep rating them and I'm going to tell all of my friends to rate them 5 stars until they get up to 100%!.... and I'm going to make damn sure that that happens!

These guys make horrible music. It sounds like a bunch of noise and it has no melody. Serj also has one of the most anoying voices ever.

their first two albums were fantastic. i like how they're fun and political and creative and musical all at the same time. they are also very intelligent people, which is always a credit. i'm not sure how i feel about their newest album, though...

When I first listened to their cd's I hated them, I hated their singing style. You know what changed my mind? Seeing them live. Now I never miss a show when they come to my town.
