My parents own a home business which revolves around this and they have clearly made me not wish to do what they do. Plus I'm horrible at math.

I am really bad at math, the job sounds boring, and I have a hard enough time preparing my taxes, let alone someone elses.

There are essentially three types of accountants, namely auditors, bookkeeping types, and tax professionals. All three actually have unique challenges that are not generally recognized by the public. Nevertheless, the profession is not for everyone, and the CPA Exam is quite difficult. Of the three, auditors and tax professionals have many opportunities to get out of the office and/or interact with clients.

The accountant job is mainly boring because you sit behind the same desk all day and have little interaction with other people. The only thing that changes in your job is the numbers. A CPA with his own practice however has a more interesting job. The pay is very good, you constantly meet and interact with new clients, and you have the satisfaction of helping people out. A job as an auditor is not so bad because you constantly need to interact with different people in-house, or if you work for the IRS you get to travel and do some investigative work. The problem though is that no one ever looks forward to seeing an auditor. It means more work for the accountant and it possibly means that your company owes money.

Although I respect the profession, it's probably the most boring profession in the whole world...

Stereotypically boring job. I picture a guy in a gray suit sitting in front of an enormous spreadsheet. The only bright spot in an otherwise dull career is the slight chance of being the Pricewaterhouse guy who gets to bring out the Oscar voting results.
