 | OceanSoul (10) 08/22/2008 | Blue Oyster Cult has versatility. I love the way their guitarists interact. The overall sound of BOC is one of my favorites, and one of the most distinctive of the genre. They are still on the road, frequently playing motorcycle rallies and festivals and even making an occassional trip to the studio.

 | hardrockfanatic (7) 07/14/2008 | BOC actually has some good tunes but most of their albums are average. Certainly not the worse band I have heard.

 | Ben999 (10) 01/11/2008 | Saw them live for free near the capital in Albany, New York. I guess theyve fallen since hitting it big in the 70's

 | Limpin' Trenchfoot (18) 04/26/2007 | BOC made quite a few patchy albums but when they hit the mark they made some classics. Shame that radio only ever plays (the admittedly great Dont fear the reaper) considering BOC have a heap of top tunes like 'Hot rails to hell', 'Godzilla', 'The red and the black' , 'Blade' , '7 screaming Diz busters', etc. 'Tyranny and mutation' and 'Agents of fortune' are the two best studio albums and you cant go far wrong with the underrated live album 'Some enchanted evening'. Overall, an underrated band tho' not what I'd call metal.

 | ILikePie (55) 09/22/2006 | Before I first listened to them, I really thought I would hate Blue Oyster Cult. Of the few people I know who had heard of them, all of them really didn't like or didn't care about Blue Oyster Cult. "They're bland...boring...pompous, dull prog rock...", but what do you know? I loved them. 'Don't Fear the Reaper' (obviously their most famous track) is awesome, as is 'Astronomy' and 'Burnin For You', and to a lesser extent 'Godzilla'. BOC rule!

 | Rockon64 (2) 05/25/2006 | Incredible guitarist in this band. The solo in "Godzilla" is so hot it will melt your eardrums. "Some Enchanted Evening" rocked my world when I first heard it. I also thought the early 80's album "Club Ninja" was pretty good, I think I was the only one, though.

 | oscargamblesfro (81) 03/11/2006 | 3.5, kind of humorous at times, solid band for the mid to late 70's... Much to the chagrin of my neighbors, I used to come home very drunk at 5:14 A.M. and play "Godzilla" at full blast, fall asleep, and wake up much later with a long cigarette ash or a cigarette burn in my jacket or the remnants of one of those impossibly eclectic sandwiches you only make when you're really hammered all over me. You know, the ones that you'd find to be VERY gross if you were sober at the time instead. Sometimes I'd throw the neighbors a curve, or a bone, depending on your point of view. I'D play the slightly less loud "Cities On Flame With Rock and Roll"instead.

 | Gromit (2) 01/12/2006 | B.O.C. is a GREAT, very creative rock band from Long Island. They can get very heavy and raw, and experimental such as in the album 'Fire Of Unknown Origin', which has more synth sounds. Their versatility and powerful live shows attest to their greatness. One of the BEST rock bands, ever!

A clever band that in most cases was above their drugged out audience!

 | Guava Monkey (4) 04/21/2004 | Their albums from the 80's arent quite up to the standard of 'Secret Treaties', 'Tyranny & Mutation', 'Some enchanted evening' and 'Agents of fortune' which still sound good. Buck Dharma's a well underrated lead guitarist with some tasty chops on tracks like 'Hot rails to hell' and the live version of 'Reaper'.

 | Trix (0) 02/16/2004 | Very overlooked great band (nowadays anyway). Astronomy off Some Enchanted Evening is one of the most profound of musical moments.

 | Moosekarloff (19) 04/03/2003 | One Song Wonders. "Don't Fear..." is a fine song, but one song doesn't make a career. Even though these guys went to my alma mater (Hobart College) where they first formed, I can't work up too much enthusiasm.

 | ellajedlicka21 (6) 10/19/2002 | They have "Don't Fear the Reaper," but they are not among my personal favorites as far as the rest of their music goes.
