Al is a truly classic artist. His beautiful rendition of "How Can You Mend A Broken Heart" is..well..heartbreaking. That is the song I put on when I am feeling low..It doesn't really make me feel better (of course) but it's very cathartic. I loooove "Let's Stay Together". There is no song to better groove to, let me tell you. And what a soulful voice! Nothing negative about this man. Except for the grit burns

Al Green is an extremly great singer, with a great voice. He had some great hits in the 60's, and he had a great comebcak in the 80's with Annie Lennox, doing the soundtrack for the film Scrooged.

I'll take Al Green over Marvin Gaye anyday, maybe over Otis Redding and Sam Cooke too. That puts him at the very pinnacle of the R&B mountaintop. "Let's Stay Together" and "I'm STill In Love with You" are the two that will go in the time capsule, but one you should really hunt for is "Belle" off his 1977 album of the same name. It's got so much soul you couldn't fit it on the soul train.

His voice can get on my nerves. But Al pushes himself to use every bit of emotion into his music. You can just hear him shivering and crying, in "Let's Stay Together." That whole album is superb.

Al Green's singing is one of the most soulful of any R&B artist, as good as Otis Redding and Marvin Gaye. His rendition of "How Can You Mend A Broken Heart?" was great, almost as good as the Bee Gees original. "Let's Stay Together" is another classic R&B ballad.
