Bush was such a bad President that he caused me to become a Democrat. I'll never vote for a Republican again.

Oil man first, representative of the people second. After his first few MONTHS in office he had the worst environmental record of any president-that includes those that were president before people knew better than to cut down 100,000 year old trees just because they were there. He did unite the country after 9/11, but I think that any president who happened to be a good speaker could have done that. The war was disastrous, and I say that as one of the few people who was against the war to begin with. I was attending a Canadian University when war was declared. I was in a unique perspective of watching our dollar fall like a stone, while simultaneously being screwed by it as well. While at school there I took a lot of classes on Islam as part of my major (Philosophy of Religious Studies). I would watch talking heads on CNN and the like discuss why we should invade the Middle East, NOT ONE OF THEM HAD ANY UNDERSTANDING OF ISLAM AT ALL! We were blindly led to slaughter by a shepherd who had no idea what he was doing. Everything that so-called experts were saying about a Muslim country had no basic understanding of Islam. Even if they were approaching from a secular historical perspective (dangerous in this case), they were ignoring previous instances of countries failed attempts to do the exact same thing! He opened a can of worms that should have been left alone and we will receive blowback from that for decades to come. Additionally he used the same terrorist rhetoric that he used to start the war to become a terrorist himself. Not only did he condone abuses at Guantanamo and Abu Ghraib, but he abused the American people with his complete disregard for the Constitution. Suspension of Habeus Corpus, Illegal wiretapping and Immenant domain, are just a few examples. Meanwhile, where bin Ladin? Then there was Katrina, which not only could have been avoided, but also was so completely mismanaged that they are still not done rebuilding years later. I hate to bring race in to this, or, if not race than economic standing, but I couldn't help but notice that when the Midwest was flooded it was handled in a timely and efficient manner. No child left behind prevents schools that need the most help, from getting any help. Standardized testing punishes creativity (you know, that thing that Americans like to praise) while not actually encouraging learning in anyway. Teachers are forced to teach tests instead of focusing on the childrens growth and progress. Still, having said all that, I can't help but feel sorry for the man. The presidency has aged him terribly. I do not think he is as dumb as he comes off, and he must know how hated he is. History will judge him, but I believe it will jugde him in the same league as it did Carter, Hayes and Hoover. And Maybe Johnson as well. P.S. sorry to write an entire novel about it. This was even AFTER leaving complaints out. *coughs-outsourcing-coughs*

Almost single handedly destroyed the economy and the Constitution. Probably the greatest liar ever (achieved greatness.) Should be tried for treason and for helping to elect Obama the socialist.

He made the nation more expensive than anything. He declared war on a country (Iraq) that had nothing to do with the 9-11 attacks at either the World Trade Center or the Pentagon. He jacked oil prices upwards of $140 a barrel and gas prices upwards of $4 a gallon. He sent all of our jobs fleeing to China. He caused a housing boom that priced millions of lower and lower middle class people out of their homes and sent property taxes soaring like a space shuttle. He cut Medicaid, Medicare, and several vital service programs for people with disabilities. He sent the entire economy of the United States into a steep nosedive during his last few months in office so the new president would be way in over his head (the only thing I would welcome is lowering house prices).George W Bush was the absolute worst president in american history!!!
nubosa 02/07/2009
Of course Iraq was his biggest risk, and it consumed his entire presidency and all else that he could have accomplished. But he's right when he states that history will be the biggest judge. If Iraq stablizes with a working 'democracy', they may become an example to the rest of the middle east, which will work favorably for us. But that is a few years off if it is to be. If so, he'll be viewed upon as an unsung hero.

George W. Bush as a president who had average to at best above average (at best) intelligence who in instead of serving the American people seemed to serve the likes of Dick Cheney and Haliburton, and his oil cronies and others, rather then being the leader of the free world, but will still go down as the worst president in US history, who will best be remembered for:
1) stealing the 2000 election taking Florida's electoral votes, with the help of his brother, Jeb, the then-governor of Florida
2) unjustly invading Iraq while using the tragic events of 9/11 as an excuse to do so, and creating a huge quagmire in the country, where at least 10,000 innocent Iraqi citizens (the total could be higher now) have lost their lives, while 4,000 of our service men have needlessly lost their lives as well as other Americans and other foreigners in the country and making the middle east region even more dangerous then it was especially with Iran where and creating an even more intense hatred of our nation. Yet W. continues to stubbornly/arrogantly/ignorantly insist, despite overwhelming evidence, that launching a pre-emptive strike against Iraq was the right thing to do to liberate the people of Iraq, when it was all about the oil.
Listening to W when he was in office was like listening to a wind up toy as it seemed like he knew only how to say four things:
1) "I made America a safer place" (No you didn't George! Oh and it was Paul Wolfowitz's idea to invade Iraq!)
2) "I rid the world of an evil dictator"
3) "United States and its Allies will not be intimidated by terrorists"
4) "We will prevail in Iraq"
Thank Goodness for Term Limits!

All the little goobers must be thrilled now that they've finally put him to the bottom of the list.UPDATE: The little goober statement inspired some conversation that led to this statement.Eh, that'll happen, just like they show up in unbelievable droves to gush about Eddie Van Halen. GOP cheerleaders have also gone after Clinton when Jimmy Carter is a more valid target. As to the general state of things, I see a busted political system where both parties have some answering to do. Both of course prefer to blame the other side rather than do their job and prefer to have us all throwing things at each other from armed camps so we don't talk to each other and come up with intelligent solutions of our own. I broke camp and took the middle ground, so now I wonder what all the fuss is about. Dubya isn't the demon or hero that some imagine, he's a regular guy with a tough job and he might suck at it.(read the comments for the full story) UPDATE: Well, he's gone. New day in America, right? As to the claims that the country has been left in shambles, I'd suggest a more positive outlook. We go around acting whipped and we'll be whipped. I myself just threw down my best work week in over two years, so I personally will have none of this banter that would suggest that we've been living some nightmare. Sure, Dubaya kinda sucks, but we could have worse people run this place, TRUST ME.
Everything Passes 01/20/2009
I see Bush now as a kind of sad and pathetic figure. He was woefully in over his head as commander in chief, a position he should never have held for even one term, let alone two. He has left the country in shambles. Bush likes to say that history will look favorably on his presidency. If so, he will certainly have to wait until all of us who remember living through the past eight years of his failures are long dead.
frogio 01/19/2009
Give me a break, people. This guy will most certainly go down in history as THE worst president ever. Never mind the unnecessary wars, warrantless wiretapping, ridiculous foreign policy, Abu Graib, speeches that could never pass " Are You Smarter Then a 5th Grader?", “Brownie doing a heck of a job” circa Hurricane Katrina, “Mission Accomplished”, no WMD’s, tax cuts for the wealthy, backing Alberto Gonzales, the squandering of a near $3 trillion surplus into a $1.2 trillion deficit...and…on, and on, and on..Listen, people…it one thing to tug on the ol’ heart strings when a completely useless ex, who contributed absolutely nothing to your welfare is escorted out the door, but never lose sight of the actual reality while you were living it…And if that’s not enough to jerk back the tears, here’s another two words that should do it – Dick CheneyGood riddance Bush…good f***ing riddance. See you on the nonexistent speech circuit (unless you get a special on Comedy Central or in Hell).
Victor83 01/19/2009
To call Bush a disappointment is a colossal understatement. He has worked hard at selling our country out to Mexico while paving the way nicely for a Hilary Clinton election in 2008. I support our troops and the war on terror, but Iraq is perhaps the worst tangle of poor planning and delusional thinking in US history. Those are just his major flaws- not to mention the fact that he has spent like a drunken sailor and our national debt is approaching 9 trillion dollars. On balance, he is like his father, a leftist in Republican clothing. One might accurately refer to him as the second coming of LBJ. Update: Bush has to be the hottest topic of conversation on the internet for the last eight years. A week from Tuesday he will be gone, but the damage he has done will remain. There are some things in my life that I am not proud of. Confessing the truth that I voted for this man is something that shames me. Brave soldiers and Marines have died and families have grieved due to his stubborn stupidity. Brave heroes like Agents Ramos and Campean rot in jail while this bum pardons white collar criminals for political favor. Even in his last days, he is a disgrace. He is a disgrace to the United States, the Oval Office, and the Republican Party. I am a disgrace for having voted for this tragic clown.Goodbye and good riddance.Update 2: After this I will shut up about Bush. Then everyone can thank God and hopefully follow suit. In his final hours, at least he had the decency to commute the sentences of Ramos and Campean- though they deserved a full pardon. I will give (partial) credit where credit is due. This does not change the fact however that Bush will always be in a league with Hoover, Carter, and LBJ as one of the worst Presidents in US history.

War in Iraq. Screwed up our Economy.
rubylounge 12/09/2008
I hope this man feels good about leaving office and our economy in the worst shape it has been since the Great Depression. His entire 8 years has been nothing but a money making venture at the expense of the citizens of the United States America. He should be ashamed leaving this country with a terribly low jobless rate, collapse of the auto industry and housing industry! In his next life he will come back as a fly.
HondaRider91 11/28/2008
Is he seriously going to get off easy? After 8 years of war and high fuel prices, George Bush cannot just leave. He has to face judgement. He owns oil, yes he started the war to get more oil. He wanted money of course, who doesn't? High gas prices added to his profit. He came in with an agenda, he acheived that agenda. Ass....

Strijdom 11/03/2008
Not bad, not good, as most economists agree, it was Greenspan under Clinton that eventually precipitated the current economic situation. However, Bush just didnt do enough to counter the damage Clinton had done, leaving him with blame as well. Bush, however, has brought America closer to victory in the war on terror, despite what liberals are ranting. Violence in Iraq is down 90% and Afghanistan how has a democratically elected government.
indecine 11/03/2008
it'd be hard to imagine how a president could do any worse, even if he tried really hard. quick recap: 1. allowed 911 by ignoring obvious threats 2. katrina mis-management 3. the infamous WMD's, of which there are now plenty in iraq 4. abu ghraib 5. osama still out there 6. stock market collapse 7. tax breaks to the ultra-rich 8. gas prices soar 9. turned US into global boogeyman 10. went back on kyoto accords 11. impeded stem cell research 12. just an all around foolish a** thus, i propose the following: - anyone who voted for bush in 2000 should not be allowed to vote again, ever - anyone who voted for bush in 2004 should not be allowed to breed, ever who's with me?
flmedguy 11/02/2008
Has caused damage to the US in just about every area for years to come. The worst president ever!!

It is risky to judge the full impact of any presidency without at least some historical perspective. That is particularly true in the case of incumbents, where partisan passions are frequently inflamed, and may well drown rational discourse in the most reasoned persons. If you doubt that, do a little reading of what some contemporary chroniclers of Washington, Jefferson and Lincoln had to say about them during their terms of office. Having said that, it would seem that the balance of success and failures in the current presidency leans somewhat more to failure than success. Note that I say somewhat, not totally, or slightly. As time passes, the Iraq War, which at this point looks to be Bush's most probable legacy, appears to be a error in judgement and policy of momentous proportions. As such it offsets several achievements of the presidency. I would rate him as a 1.8 rounded to 2 at present. Many of the failings of the presidency are linked to an overweening hubris, particularly during the first term, and while that may have been dented by the onset of events, it is still clearly present. It is too early to say, but it also appears that another legacy of this presidency may be a precipitous decline in the political fortunes of the GOP, perhaps for some time to come.

might have been better if 9-11 wouldn't have happened.

The shockingly liberal legacy of George W. Bush - From No Child Left Behind to AIDS relief in Africa, Bush forged a 'consequential' presidency. No doubt.
Claire9018 09/18/2008
He started out good, but turned out to be a major, major let down. Invaded Iraq without provocation. Lets his oil buddy cronies raise the gas prices so high that some people can't afford to go to work and take care of their families. Says he can't find the leader of a group who were responsible for 9/11, but they can find one sheep in all of North America. I suspect almost everything he does or has his hands in, and I'm glad he's going to be gone in a couple of months. I'm sure there's a lot more we will be finding out in the future. God help us all.

weedie 08/24/2008
My take is that history will judge him mediocre if he is lucky, and downright bad if he is not. Nothing much happened domestically on his watch. We did not develop alternate energy sources to free ourselves from dependence on foreign oil. The health care crises and the illegal immigration problems continued to fester. The economy was not as bad as the demos would like to paint it, and not that good either. His record on foreign policy will be dragged down by his poorly thought out strategy in Iraq. Perhaps in hindsight the war will be judged as a necessary step to bringing stability to the Mideast, but the execution was bungled. The rest of his handling of foreign affairs might look somewhat better. China did join us in the end in reining in North Korea.
All in all, a president solidly in the bottom quarter. Because of the critical importance of peace in the Mideast, I hope everything breaks for Bush and he doesn't sink any lower, but if Iraq goes south, he could rank right at the bottom.

He accomplished so much (damage) to the US and the world in such a short time. Just to name a few, * thought the world that attacking a country with no reason is fine * The environment is not important * Damaged US economy by creating a huge budget deficit and investing in unneeded war instead of education and health care

The kind of person who needs a swift kick in the nuts. Christian fascism, outsourcing, police-state, deep paranoia....great traits of a booger sugar snorting f*ckup of a rich family. A family which believes you should rise not by merits, but by birthright. If George W. Bush were black, he would be washing dishes for a living.

A bully, liar and coward. He hid behind his Daddy during Vietnam, joing the Texas Air National Guard, that only rich boys with political clout could join and then was AWOL most of the time. Using NAZI like repeated lies he has given our country's wealth and human loyalty to his friends in industry. When this period is over, I hope that the war crimes of this criminal regime will be made evident and prosecuted.
