Corte Madera Jenny Craig- PLEASE anyone that is thinking about joining this program!!my first experience with this particular center is HORRIBLE!! I was blindsided into joining! I was caught on a day that i was vulnarable!!This to them is an EASY SELL!! after 1 hour of teaming me up with the office manager I was convinced into giving up my visa and left without even a receipt!that's how vulnarable I was!!I'm usually more together than this and NEVER are taken advantage of until the day I walked into JENNY CRAIG!!my VISA was charged that evening for almost $500.00!!what an IDIOT I was!! I woke up in the middle of the night having nothing but buyers remorse if you will and could not sleep until I called and cancelled what I had done!!I called immediately and was told "no problem" we will gladly credit your account no problem" WELL that was over a month ago! I have heard every excuse known to man..and this is from the manager(Francine)!I have called and called trying to get my own money back!!its taken over a month and still today my account has NOT been credited the amount that was charged. Either it's this one particular center or the entire Jenny Craig! I had problems with JC online that is why I went in to talk to someone in person but again JC FAILED and I would tell all that are thinking of using this diet center to NOT!!it's not a program that is designed for the common its more for the RICH and famous!!Perhaps celebs can forget about being out of $500.oo without any worries but I know that with the economy eveyone is watching their money and no one should have to feel robbed no one!!STAY AWAY from JENNY CRAIG your better off!!trust me!!

I have been on the diet for 8 weeks. The food is as least as good as any other frozen food out there, and very easy to plan around the rest of the family - I just make them what I'm having (for example, lasagne when I have lasagne, pizza when I have pizza, etc). I also make them the same vegetables and salads that I have with my meal, and don't feel left out at all. I have averaged 2 lbs per week since starting, and am only about 4 lbs from my goal.
I find that most people I meet at the center that are complaining, don't follow the diet as prescribed. One told me she doesn't understand why she isn't losing weight since she only "cheats a little bit". People, if you want to lose weight you need to commit to the diet, exercise, and just keep your goal in mind. If losing weight was easy, everyone would be skinny and not need the program.

As for cost, I tend to eat fresh foods anyways, and find that this is actually cheaper. It's less than a starbuck coffee or fast food hamburger, per meal.

I've been asking around and have noticed a pattern. Jenny Craig takes WAY too long to refund peoples money. When you place an order it is immediately taken off your debit card or cc, but when you request a refund they take 3 weeks and numerous calls to get it!!!!

That's bad business and I will NEVER recommend them as a result of that. Besides, I too could not stomach their food, it was horrible.

You can lose weight on Jenny Craig. But it is lonely and sooo much more difficult for anyone with a hubby or family. You eat your small portion of Jenny's food. And that sucks.
I found not being able to fully participate in Family dinners, events etc... a drag. Afterall, Good food, meals together, etc are family life. Parties, barbecues, picnics are hard.
I got tired of the isolation from regular meals. I got tired of thinking about , worrying about, and planning Food for the family and then not having any. I did miss regular food right off the bat.

JC food is really not nearly as good as advertised, so be ready for that. At least I did not think it was that good.
Some of the stuff I simply could not stomach. I Hated the supplement.
Kirsty admits she would Fast a couple days a week when she ate real food.
That's a clue right there.

Jenny Craig is TOO VERY expensive . It's a hit to the family budget for just your meals.
Be prepared in the neighborhood of $600 ...and that's alot for many of us.
You cannot stay on it forever.

Almost EVERYONE gains back after going off the plan. That is the real kicker for me.
That's why I think there are better ways to lose.
I wanted something "real" with real food and real family meals.
I wanted real lasting results. So I made up my own plan and pretty much stuck to it.

Learning to eat smaller portions of your own balanced meals, exercising (walking etc) and being careful about your intake of High calorie treats is a better way to concentrate.

But if you just cannot get started, and do not know how to have what's considered a "portion," this might be worth a try. But don't plan on it being your total answer. You will have to go on your own at some point.
That's the biggest thing Jenny does is portion your food.

If you cut back on your own, and cut out ,you will lose weight . And if you begin to make that a habit, your new habit will become your life style.

It took me a year to lose 24 pounds on my own with real food and walking at least 3 times a week. Nothing magical here , just cutting back and choosing better menus for me and my family.
But those 24 pounds are off. No gimmicks.

The Jenny Craig diet plan is WAY too expensive. Costs about $650 per month. And you have to buy a whole bunch of other food to go along with it in addition to that. My wife got scammed. She signed up for $250 and when we got into a major argument and I had to threaten a divorce, she went back to cancel and they only refunded $79, and had to majorly argue with the counselor with my mother in law to get out of a sticky contract. AWFUL!!

I have been doing Jenny Craig exactly one week today and I have to say I am quite suprised by the negative comments regarding the food. I was a vegetarian for years and am quite the picky eater. The quality of the meat was a major concern of mine as that is what I am most picky about. With the exeption of maybe 2 menu items I am soooooo impressed with how good the food is.

With regard to the cost, that was also a concern of mine but I made the decision to put losing weight and my overall health at the top of my financhial priority list (something I have neglected for far too long). If I were to calculate all of the costs of dinning out plus Trips to the Dr. and wages lost from taking off of work due to compromising my immune system with garbage, it would far exceed the cost of doing Jenny Craig.

This may not work for everyone but for me it certainly seems like the answer. I am an actress and although I love what I do I commute long distances for rehearsals and shows, have a lot of late nights and lack the energy and consistancy in my schedule to prepare meals on my own. When I told my consultant that I would be traveling to Scotland for 2 weeks in Aug she worked with me to figure out how I could have my food shipped to where I will be staying. This program strips me of all my excuses. "I don't have time to grocery shop,I'm never home to cook or I'm too tired...Blah blah blah." It's quite refreshing to not be able to justify my issues anymore. I just wanted to write this for those who are looking to start the program. After reading some of the reviews here I almost did not sign up. I am sorry to those of you who had bad experiances with J.C and certainly hope you find a program/way of life that suites your needs.

Update:

In less than 2 weeks I have lost 11.5 pounds by simply following the jenny craig diet and excersing when I can. For now i am doing low impact cardio...Biking,swimming,walking. The food is just as tasty into my 2nd week as it was in the first. For my second order I went ahead and purchased an entire month. I am sold!

Update:

Today I am 2 weeks and two days into doing J.C. and I have lost 14 pounds! If you are going to do this diet you MUST suppliment your fiber in the way of veggies and lots of salad. The meals alone simply will not provide you with enough and you will find yourself not being able to poopa doop for days! Also, If you plan on doing this program awhile, transfer your food from the plastic carton onto a real plate. Digestion begins before consumption. This has helped me greatly to better enjoy my meals.

I've chosen not to eat the food according to the meal planner I have. I am single and often go to my sister's and parent's houses for dinner. It's kind of fun asking what they will be having and then picking my entree accordingly so that I never feel left out. Another thing I would suggest is to cook the meal in the conventional oven (given you have the time of course) as opposed to the microwave.Makes a big difference but I'm sure that's a no brainer. Anyway, thats it for now. I'll check back in next week with an update. Thanks for reading!

Update:

Today was my 1 month weigh in and I have lost 21 pounds! For the 1st time in a long time I feel happy, inspired and have a new found hope about my future that I haven't had in what seems like forever. I shall update again soon.

Update:

Today I am 5 weeks into being on the program and I have lost 25 pounds! Woo hoo! I COMPLETELY maintain that the food is excellent. Obviously there are things I like better than others but that is to do with my own unique pallet and not the quality of the food. The Jenny consultant I speak to every week is definately pushy and I kind of wish I didn't have to deal with that aspect of the program to be completely honest. It's just kind of irritating to me and insulting at times. i don't eat the Jenny desserts or snacks. I suppliment those things with better choices and I really would like to not have to pay for them but she keeps insisting their importance like I'm some kind of moronic idiot. I even got into a bit of an argument with her regarding this. Well today she will be calling for another annoying little chat and I'm going to threaten to quit the program to get her to finally agree to take those items off of my order. Sometimes we have to repsort to these type of tactics. It's ridiculous I even have to go there but this woman is relentless. The tactic funny enough was suggested to me by an ex employee of Jenny Craig's who explained that the representatives get commissions on our orders and will therefore do anything in their power to talk us out of taking away menu items such as the desserts and snacks to cut costs. She stated "I know because I myself used to do and say the same thing." She also explained they are trained specifically to do this. I was advised "Tell her you're going to quit the program and you'll see how fast she shuts ups". Anyhow,I am not discouraging anyone from doing the program as it's meant to be done but for me i'd rather save the money and suppliment the snacks and desserts for more fiber filled, nutritious snacks. If you feel as I do though dont be afraid to speak up. YOU are the customer. Dont let them intimidate you! And believe me, they will try. uck!!! So annoying!!! Just give me the damn food and get out of my face!!! haha! Sheesh! Anyway, I'll check back in later. Thanks for reading! I'm in a bit of a sassy mood today. Hey,maybe it's the weight loss!!! :)

I've been on Jenny Craig for 3 months today and I have lost 40.2 pounds. I enjoy the meals and the variety of the food. I eat better now than when I was buying fast food all the time! I really enjoy the lunches. I'm amused by the people that say they are still hungry on the program. Well, of course you are! You're not eating the same amount you are used to. You are eating the appropriate portion size. I like the 'volumetrics' part of the program where they show you how to increase the size of your measl with fruits and veggies. This program works, IF you work it.

Someone mentioned that the only way you can lose weight on Jenny Craig is if you stick 100% to the program. Again, I have to smile at that. To keep my sanity, I allow myself one "off program" meal a week. It's usually lunch or dinner and it's always the day of my weigh in. I weigh in on Saturday mornings. I've been doing this since week one and with over 40 pounds down....I seem to be doing something right! If I didn't have this sanity check meal, I would no doubt make poor decisions duing the week. I know me, I've seen me do it! :) I have rules to my off meal. I can only eat AT a resturant. No take out. And if I don't finish what I ordered, I don't bring it home with me. No leftovers. I find now that my choices are healthier than they were in the begining. And it's not so much of a sacrifice to leave the leftovers behind.

My only negative to the program is the price. It is on the high side. However, when I compared what I was paying at the store and added what I was spending in addition to that on fast food because I didn't feel like cooking, I'm actually SAVING money on Jenny Craig!

Jenny Craig is not a forever gig. It's a way to get your weight off and show you what a single portion should be. I was at a point with my weight where the idea of weighing and measuring didnt appeal to me AT ALL. I just didnt want to deal with it. I chose Jenny Craig because they take care of that for me. The more weight I lose, the more aware of what I'm eating I am. If you're in a place where your goal seems overwhelming, Jenny Craig is a great way to get on the right track.

Losing weight is tough, regardless of what program you choose. My weight issues aren't about food. Mine are emotional. I think a lot of people's are. That part of it needs to be addressed as well. It's hard to fix the emotional when the physical is all that you can see and think about. With Jenny Craig, I'm not as focused on food, the weight is coming off and I am working on the emotional part of it.

Good luck to everyone on their weight loss journey, no matter how you go about it. :)

I have waited to see if customer service would ever call to address what I call ignorance. I belonged to Jenny Craig and have dished out hundreds of dollars. I did not have a lot to lose but because of unforseen circumstances it was taking me quite a while to lose. One day my husband picked up my food. He knows nothing really as far as the program. I gave him the check and he was greeted with the fact I had to pay 10.00 more dollars to extend my program. Not knowing what to do he called I was in a rush did not have my contract with me and said I would check into it yet they still DID NOT let him have the 100.00 worth of food. I am astonished that a big company dealing with one indiviual was more concerned about the 10.00 than the client. They had no problem in the past handing me over 100's of dollars worth of food, overcharging me one time, as well as giving me outdated food another. My gas had to go back and get new food not theirs. It was okay for that and it is not like they are around the corner. In fact when they overcharged me they said they would credit me NOT give me the money back right then and there. [A lot of people had recommended Nutrisystem and of course I didn't listen.] I cannot beleive they never called to even acknowledge a complaint. It is all about the almighty buck with Jenny Craig! One customer doesn't hurt their pocketbook but I hope many read this and decide to go elsewhere.
1 stars Ellen

Recently, the lemon cake and double chocolate cake were changed. My question is why? The lemon cake was my favorate desert, and i loved the glob of frosting on top of the chocolate cake. The frosting would sometimes stick to the top of the package, and I would use my finger to scrape it off and spread it on the cake, and what was left on my finger I would lick.
The new cakes don't come close to the old ones, and I no longer chose them from the menu. Please bring back the old cakes. Sincerely, Richard

I am sooooo glad to find you guys who are also on the JC diet. I find the food completely vile & the cost a rip-off. The 'chicken' in the chargrilled chicken is infact only 21% chicken - the other 79% is soya & additives. & I thought they are supposed to advocate a healthy diet? As a person who has eaten wholemeal bread, rice & pasta for years, it's amazing to have to eat the white stuff. Particularly when they tell you to eat wholemeal. And they also tell you not to eat crumbed fish. So what is in their fish dishes? You've got it ... crumbed fish! I'm sure you've noticed that the food on the packaging seems to bear no resemblance to that you serve onto your plate. I have lost weight but realise that with smaller portions & actually eating inbetween meals (not starving myself for hours) this will happen. So it's 'adios' to that over-priced & disgusting JC food, 'hello' nutritious food for me!

After eating through the holidays from Thanksgiving to Easter I am now back to my all time high. I'm now 50 and loosing weight is not as easy as it use to be. Having said that, Jenny really makes it easy. I'm doing it with my wife that makes it really easy. When you're eating their food its seems like you're eating all day .. 3 fruits a day, breakfast, lunch and dinner and snacks in between. I'm never hungry. After the 1st week where all you think about is what I need to eat next becomes second nature by the following week. Our problem is with our lifestyle, we like to eat out. The good thing about Jenny is that it teaches you portion control.

Side notes to other reviews
- My advisor was not pushy at all .. In fact she suggested the 20 for 20
deal.
- Yes the food makes you crazy gassy ... Gotta take the good with the bad ;-)
- 1st week I lost 6 pounds then 2 pounds on the 2nd (guys loose it faster)
- No I'm not exercising .. but I should be
- Cost wise ... the cost is about $ 100 a week which is not terrible. Take your
Starbucks and lunch money and put it toward this.

Go for it

I went to Jenny Craig as I had done it before years ago, for a few weeks at a time when life was busy and I wanted to not think about my diet for a short time.

This time, I have gained a lot of weight due to quitting smoking and some other issues. Being pretty broke at the moment, I wanted to do the 20 lbs for $20 that is being advertised.

The horrible, pushy, bitchy consultant I dealt with was so pushy about joining the program (for over $400) that she was worse than any used car salesman. I am in my 40s and a tough broad, and I was emphatiic with her that there was no way I was going to do it. When I finally said that I would get up and walk out if she didn't just sell me the food and the $20 program, she huffily gave in, and was so rude I wanted to slap her.

It makes me laugh in the commercials when they talk about how great their consultants are. They are uneducated sales people, and that is that.

All that being said, I don't mind the food.

Okay so when I started this program I lost weight and if you did stick to it and never ever ate any thing else but the jenny craig than you'll lose weight which was a problem for me. I was getting tired of the same food week after week and the cost is mind blowing expensive. And if you ate like 3 crackers or a bag of chips you would gain like 1 lb. I am not kidding. I decided screw it I can't take the food anymore. Oh and around the time my period came I would pig out like no other! and gain like 2 or 3 lbs. I gained all the weight i lost which was 8;bs no biggie but anyway I joined weight watchers and I work out and when my period comes around I don't have horrid cravings just normal ones. You can eat whatever you want and learn about calories. I mean Jenny Craig does work but you must be really strict and really in love with their food cause trust me it will getting boring. but the desserts were good and tasty.

I've been on Jenny for eight weeks, and have lost 18.2lbs!
I'm LOVING the food, and it's helped my exponentially with portion control.
I've tried diets before this, and nothing's worked for me.
I know myself, and where I failed in those diets; I'm not saying that any of those diets are wrong, or bad, or don't help people, because I'm sure they do.
Jenny's just what's right for me.
It's easier to resist popcorn at the movies, when you have your own bag with you in your purse,
or a piece of cake at the restaurant, when you know you have a chocolate cake with delicious frosting, waiting for you at home.

It helps me manage my cravings for sure, because I can order what I want, and have my week all planned out for me, at the beginning of the week, so that meal planning is a no brainer.
Obviously, I'm not going to be on this program forever.
My Consultant said that from the beginning. They don't want you back.
They want you there until you reach your goal, mantain it, and are ready to get out into the real world, with your own food.
My consultant is already offering to help me with making some of my own meals to bring down my cost.

Some people are complaining about gas, or stomach pain.
Most of the time, if you're someone who didn't eat a lot of veggies or high fiber food before Jenny, have to give your body the time to adjust to the influx of fiber into your diet, and healthier food.
Obviously the food contains sodium, or preservatives, they kind of HAVE to do that to be able to ensure the food will last longer on the shelf, and in your freezer.
But they limit it to the amounts that still fall within the healthy guidelines of sodium intake.
Assuming you drink enough water to flush it out of your system.
My Centre, and my consultant are totally aware of how expensive this is, and work with me to make sure it fits into my budget.
Yes, it is expensive. Ridiculously so.
But I'm not thinking about it in like: "I'm spending X amount of dollars a week, to lose a pound or two. (*Which by the way, even 8 weeks in I'm averaging 2.something every week*)
I'm thinking about it like this: "I'm spending money on myself, and my new healthy, active, HAPPY lifestyle, that I plan on maintaining for the rest of my life."

There's no cost on my health.
There's no cost on my happiness.
There's no cost on my future.
I'm not worrying about that.

I also think about this.
Because I joined Jenny, i'm 18.2 lbs lighter than I was eight weeks ago.
Where would I be right now, if I HADN'T Joined Jenny?
18.2 lbs heavier, or more.

To those of you who aren't having great customer service, I'm very sorry.
Unfortunately not every consultant is the same, It's totally something you need to play with, until you find the right one.
And to those of you who are complaining about Jenny not delivering the food at the specified times, they don't personally deliver it.
The company they give the product to, to deliver it, does.
So, don't complain about Jenny not sending it at the right time; It all depends on the Delivery guy's route for the day, how many deliveries he has for the day, traffic, etc.
It's not Jenny's fault.
And they rightly tell you that over the phone when you call to complain.
To those of you who dislike the food all together.
It's not for everyone that is for sure.
Some foods on program, I HATE! and I'll be the first person to go: "yuck! Maple Nut Hot Cereal?!?! Blech!!!" or; "Cashew chicken?!?!?!?! *GAG!!!!**" lol.
Everyones tastes are different, which is why they have over 80 options.
If you still can't find something you like, that's too bad, but that's not Jenny's problem, that's something you have to deal with.

I really don't know what else to say.
I LOVE Jenny.
I recommend it to anyone who will listen to me blab about how much I love it.
I haven't had a single thing happen that makes me want to cancel my contract.
I truly feel sorry for those that this program doesn't work for and I extend to you the sincerest wishes for Good Luck in any endeavors you decide to take.

Thanks all for reading my LOOOOOOOOOOONG Review.

Had a bad experience with JC but decided to try again because I actually liked some of the food. Bad move. The girl that signed me up was great but from there it was not good. My food came THAWED (no evidence of dry ice, it had all melted I guess) (was told by my counselor, as long as it's cool to the touch it's okay to eat!). Was told a woman counselor would call, a man called instead (30 minutes later than they said he would call - I had rushed home to be there in time for the call). Asked for a woman, she was supposed to call the next day at 12:45, she called at 1:50! I did not purchase the breakfast food (I can eat a bowl of cheerios for a lot less cost), counselor did not like this and basically told me since I wasn't following the plan that I wouldn't be called weekly (even though I paid for the full plan). I did eat the fajita meal (that was thawed and refrozen) - woke up late that night not feeling so well - visited the bathroom several times- so tossed the food. I paid $509 - they charged my CC in full. Today I cancelled, they will refund my CC a whopping $196 which is the charge for the next two weeks food I won't get. Sooooo....it cost me $313 to get food that had been thawed and I was afraid to eat and to speak to a not so friendly counselor. Something that I hoped would be a positive experience, not so much! Hummm....!

This diet is a complete fraud and scam and does nothing but take your money! It starts out very inexpensive to join and u have to pay for the horrible food...then u lose weight if you just eat nothing but their prepackaged disgusting food! After one month...the fees start adding up and it's very expensive and you keep buying the food. The consultants are all fake and do not know much about nutrition.
I started losing weight, then I got sick... After a month and a half of this diet..I developed a heart arythmia....which I never had in my entire life. After seeing a cardiologist and needing a procedure called an ablation...the doctor asked me if I was on any type of diet. I told him I was on Jenny Craig. He ordered me to stop that diet immediately!!! He felt that it was the cause of my heart troubles. Why, I ask? He said the food is loaded with preservatives and salts; lacking essential magnesium and potassium. Even though I was taking vitamins...it didnt help! I informed Jenny Craig about this. They were not in the least bit caring; said they never heard of this. (that is probably because noone ever associated the problem with the diet/food). They would not refund my investment that I made into this diet at all! They said the rules are no refunds. They didnt even make an exception at all! Some people do not outwardly get ill like I did...but many do! I did! After consulting two other cardiologists, they told me the exact same thing. They recommended Weight Watchers as the healthiest diet out there. DONT TRY JENNY CRAIG IF YOUR THINKING ABOUT IT...BELIEVE ME YOU WILL PAY IN MORE WAYS THAN ONE! I took the time to write this to save others from problems!

I have about 20-25lbs to lose, so I tried Jenny Craig. I found the food to be inedible! The meals (even w/meat) come in a box that doesn't even need to be refrigerated! I tried it for three days before I couldn't stomach the food any longer. I also found it difficult to cook for my family while I ate boxed meals. I love cooking and preparing food, and if you do, you will not be able to stay on Jenny Craig! I wouldn't feed my children and husband TV dinners for a week, why would I feed them to myself??? Furthermore, they talked me into buying all this very expensive pre-packaged food that is non-refundable! Anyway, besides always being hungry and walking 2-4 miles a day, I did manage to lose 1.5 lbs in 3 days with Jenny Craig. I believe it to be a huge, huge SCAM!!!!!

I then went to Atkins.com, which is completely free! They have great online tools, information, menus and tracking options, and you don't pay a cent! I am able to prepare a ton of fresh vegetables, meats, condiments and eggs, that are actually healthy. They have delicious recipes that my whole family likes and we are able to eat together! I am not able to eat enough food to exceed the number of carbs/per day, and I lost 4 lbs in 3 days! I also took 2.5 inches off my waist!

My advice would be to check out Atkins.com for free before spending a fortune on a SCAM! It can't hurt.

I have been on the Jenny Craig program since July of 2009. I did manage to lose 15 lbs which makes me very happy. The preplanned meals and home delivery gave me no excuses for not losing the weight. I just didn't have to think about what I was putting in my mouth and the weight came off.

However, the maintennance program is lacking in support. My weekly consulting calls have been switched to once a month, and it has become confusing on how to transition to "regular food." So with very little to go on, I decided to read the nutritional facts of each serving to get an idea of what could replace my Jenny food. Boy was I surprised. For example, the Jenny Cuisine White Cheddar Popcorn has 130 calories and 60 of those from fat! I would be better off picking choices from my grocery store that were more nutritionally sound and cheaper.

After spending lots of money and learning, I would suggest that anyone considering modifying their eating behavior would benefit from limiting calorie intake to a healthy level, stop snacking and start exercising. You will probably lose the weight and be much richer than I!

For those of us who read ingredient labels, you must know that Jenny Craig meals are full of partially hydrogenated oils, in other words trans fats. Everyone knows that trans fats are horrible for you because they clog your arteries. There a few meals that do not have these trans fats. I suggest you go over every menu item before you begin the program to determine which meals have these fats and which ones don't. It's very hard for me to believe that JC doesn't provide more healty meals.

I've been on it for 2 weeks. Do I feel better? Yes. Am I seeing quantifiable changes? Yes.

The rest of my experiences continue to be noted at www.ilovejennyc.com I'm not sure if the url name will end up being sarcasm or reality yet, too early to tell...but, feel free to listen along.

I Just started JC five days ago. I'm five feet tall and weigh 117 lbs, so I need to lose 15 lbs. The weigh in was sooo embarrassing! I haven't been exercising much but I did yesterday and will do so agai tomorrow. I feel like I'm not losing anything! I thought I lost one pound, and then found that I gained it back the next day. I am following this diet 100%. I don't know what to do. Maybe I'm impatient, but if I weigh in on Thursday (which will be my one week) and haven't lost anything I will go crazy! And since I paid all this money for the first week, I wouldn't want to necessarily quit after only a week so I can get my money's worth. I need to post somewhere where I can actually get feedbck or advice from someone in my boat. Will this ever work for me? Can anyone give me any advice? As all the staff will tell me is to "stay on the diet-it will work eventually" (of course they would say that!)

I was very excited when I first joined Jenny Craig. I joined Jenny Direct, the at home program, because I am a Mom of two and do not have any time to visit a center. The food was excellent but it was very, very EXPENSIVE. I thought that I could justify the cost if the customer service was great but that was not the case. The first shipment of food was sent to the wrong address and I had to go across town to get it. I got over that and then the second shipment of food arrived 9 days later (5 days before schedule) and I had no room in my freezer. To top it off the shipment was not even complete and more had to be sent. The last straw was today. My third shipment of food was to arrive and I recieved an email that it would not be sent until Friday unless I want to upgrade the shipping to overnight. I am out of "Jenny" food tomorrow. I cancelled the order and ended my relationship with Jenny Craig. Every counselor I spoke to was always in a hurry to end the call. I can only assume that they are required to answer a specified number of calls per hour. There is nothing personal about this program. I am going to pick up Lean Cuisines (at a fraction of the cost) and keep exercising.

I have been on Jenny Craig for almost two weeks. I stopped several days ago because my stomach hurt too much. I was miserable and had unbelievable gas. Now I am wondering if I'm even going to be able to tolerate this food. I normally eat healthy fresh unprocessed foods but have gained weight because of medicating my post divorce loneliness with too much good food. I have suffered from depression and have found that carbohydrates and fats make me feel better.
So I reintroduced the energy bar yesterday and had bad gas within the hour. Today I had the breakfast scramble, pizza, and pasta carbonara. No energy bar. And so far no gas. I guess I'll just have to try the foods out one at a time. I have succeeded on diets that used your own food but I really wanted the support and counseling of Jenny Craig. I'm wondering if I can do the diet with my own food. I worry about any undisclosed ingredients in the food. I prefer the food philosophy of the fewer the ingredients on the package, the more healthy it is. I worry about my counselor minimizing my concerns because certainly it is not in her best interest for me to go off the food. I really don't want to fail or lose my money. Eek. Definitely can't have debilitating gas pains for three months.

I love Jenny Craig!

It has given me the healthy structure I need and the food is done for me. My consultant and the program materials have helped me lose 40 of the 100 I need to be healthy again.
My only complaint is the company website is not helpful at all.
It should be better.

Cost wise: my program cost for the year is less than Weight Watchers membership-either online or at meetings by about $80.
I still have to buy food, and for me, right now, this is the best option.
I have adapted to cooking for my family, and occasionally we eat out, but there are tools to help me do that.

I had lost a wopping 83lbs and felt great, but the weight slowly began to come back following my vacation. This is a plan for people who go to work and home and that's it. During the first few weeks, I was hungry all the time, but as my stomach shrunk, I felt like I was eating too much - which is something I'd never felt before.

The plan is very convenient, (I hate cooking), but it is VERY expensive.

After being on it a while, I began to understand proper portion control, which I had no concept of before.

I like the fact that you meet with someone on a weekly basis, but the you're in and out - NEXT. I'm now using some of the concepts I've learned, along with some good old fashioned common sense and have begun my journey to a healthier lifestyle/weight.

JENNY CRAIG does not care about their OWN employees.
JENNY CRAIG only cares about lining their own pockets.
If Jenny Craig does not care about the people who makes their business successful....how do you expect them to care about their customers.
All they care about is how much money they can put in their own pockets.
JENNY CRAIG cuts their employees' hours in so they do not have to pay for health care.

I was going to try Jenny Craig but backed out when I saw the meal list. Here is my take on the program:

1) It is not a good program to teach people *what* to eat. But then, I tend to think the average person has a pretty good sense of what is healthy vs. unhealthy food. If not, you can get this information, for free, from Nutrition.gov.

2) I think the program IS probably good for people who need to learn/relearn portion control, need convenience, and would benefit from having someone call them and help with keeping them on track. (I felt I fell in this category which is why I called)

3) However, the menu items are NOT appropriate for people who already enjoy "good" food (and by that I mean healthy, macrobiotic whole foods, etc) Nor is it appropriate for anyone with Diabetes, PCOS (me), sugar addiction, or any other hormone or insulin resistance related issues.

I actually enjoy fruits, nuts, veggies etc, my problem is that "good" foods take a lot of time to prepare and I also have trouble with portion control. (Yes, if you eat too much "healthy" food you WILL gain weight!). In addition, sugar and carbs cause me to get bloated, irritable, depressed and crave more sugar/carbs. I told them that I wanted to be on a "diabetic" diet, so was totally shocked to see all the sugary junk food in the order list. They said that these were approved by the ADA and that most of their foods have similar nutritional value. I canceled the order.

If you eat a lot of junk and fast food and want to start somewhere, this could be a good place to start. Especially if you can't stand veggies and basic whole foods etc. BUT, if you have any kind of special diet needs or have a sugar addiction/problem I suggest you find something else.

Anyway, I am trying to lose 35 pounds I gained in the past 18 months; 15 from quitting smoking (still quit!), and 20 from TTC so going off my insulin meds, which I am back on. If anyone knows of a convenient program, like Jenny Craig, that provides good whole foods and low sugar/carb (but NOT Atkins level of low carb which is unhealthy, etc) please post!! Thanks!

I am a 45 year old female and started to carry a large amount of weight in my stomach and nothing I did seemed to help me lose it. Although I love to cook and entertain I thought I was making healthy choices. So, when I wasn't very successful losing it myself I knew I had to do something. The cost was holding me back but when I figured out one months budget on what I was spending on lunches and dinners before and now the added convenience and a great plan it justified it.

The first couple of weeks I actually had a hard time eating all the food. And because I am a cook, I was very worried about the taste. Over all the food is excellent, of course you will find there are some things that you didnt like but the good part is is that there is such a varity you can choose something else.

Well I just finished my 4th week on Jenny and I have to say that I am very happy. I have lost
13-LBs and my jeans are getting really big!

I still have many more pounds to lose but I am no longer obsessed and consumed by my weight because its coming off at a steady pace and I don't feel deprived.

I will keep you posted!

I have been JC for just 5 days. Had a few little slip-ups for the Jewish Holiday, but all in all going well...Some of the food is tastier than expected, some is not so good...I went with the initially recommended food plan, which has some things I would not normally eat on it.

Although I doubt I am losing much this week, I am trying with the weigh-in in mind, which is a motivating factor, and the whole reason "I called Jenny". I needed some outside motivation, and someone to be accountable to. I am a little bit anxious about going on Saturday to weigh in, but that will just have to pass!

So far, so good....

I have been on Jenny Craig a couple of times. The first time I did lose 38 pounds, but eventually gained it back. This seems to be a temp solution. Kirstie Alley gained the weight back too you know. The food does taste pretty good, it is a little expensive. However you have to stick to it exactly to lose. Sometimes that is hard if you have social life, and like to go out sometimes, and not eat frozen food every single meal every single day. My problem is that the food makes my system wacky, I get a lot of gas and bad stomach aches. Makes it hard to work out and go to work when you are sick. Has anyone else had these problems?

I have an appointment to tomorrow to see a JC REP. I am excited but nervous about the cost of the program and food. I went one time last year and it was out of my price range. I have been speaking to a consultant for the past two weeks and she seems to be very knowledgable and has said she can help me save some cost with the program.

Well I will keep you posted and see if I have decided to join the program or not. The reviews have helped out a lot and hopefully if I do join I will get great results!

After years of Yo-Yo dieting and another failure after a year on Weight Watchers I decided to give this a try. It's only been a week but I lost 5 pounds. I don't expect that rate to continue...2 pounds would be cool.

I'm a single guy and tend to eat all evening long mindlessly. Even with WW, I just stopped really controlling portions or calculating points. I like that the Jenny menu tells me what to eat in a day and that most of the food is prepared and portioned. I'm adding a ton of vegetables to stay full but that is encouraged.

The Jenny meals taste pretty good and there is a lot of variety. I tend to make the same things over and over and gets sick of them....then I cheat.

I hope the one on one sessions will teach me how to transition to real world food. I am certainly ready to do my part. The counselor is a guy about my age that I can understand. I did not click with the gals at WW.

I read how many people complain about the price, but I spent way more on fatty lunches and drive-thru meals. The structure makes the cost well worth it.

Yesterday was my first day on Jenny Craig, it went surprising well! It was a little hard to stay on track but I did it. I have never been an overweight person but in the last 3 years I have continued to put on weight and have tried everything to get rid of it. My husband and I have planed a trip to Cancun in November for our anniversary and I would love to look good before we leave. My doctor suggested that I try Jenny Craig and so here I am. I am only on my second day but so far so good. I have lost one pound and would like to lose a total of 35lbs before November. I do have to say that working out is a huge part of it, I have been working out consistently for a year and a half and have had somewhat of good success but I still weigh more now then I did after having my 3rd baby who is almost 6yrs old. I will keep you posted on my success.

If I can continue to lose 1lb everyday then this program rocks!!! I think it is worth the try if you are serious about dropping those pounds. I even was able to get my husband to sign up for this he will start today.

I will continue to post comments about my progress and let you know how I am doing. For those of you who have complained about it I don't know why. So far so good for me!!!

Day three: Things are getting better as far as hunger pains go... I have now lost 1 1/2 lbs which is really good because that is within a two day period of time!!! I hope to lose another pound tomorrow. I am really excited about this program I feel like I finally found something that works! :) Yeah

Week 1 and I have lost a total of 3.5lbs and 2.5 inches doing good!!!

One week and going on 2 days 5 is the golden number I have lost 5lbs and 5inches in the first week. My husband has lost 10lbs in his first week

I have just finished my first week on Jenny Craig, and I have to say that I am pretty impressed. I lost 2.5 pounds, but what is surprising to me is how good the food is. I did the pre-planned menu so that I didn't get stuck in a rut too soon, but this week I am choosing my own food. I have tried almost every kind of diet frozen meal from the grocery store and I have to say that these are completely in their own league. You also get things outside of a slab of chicken breast and vegetables, like cheesecake and rising crust pizza. The portion sizes are small, similar to the ones in the store, but you eat frequently enough that it doesn't matter that much. The price IS pretty steep, but I am not buying food, I am buying weight loss. I already know healthy cooking strategies, but this is really giving me a feel for the portions I neeed to be eating. Before spending the money, I thought, "I could just do this myself", but the truth is, I have wanted to lose weight long enough that if that were true, I would have already done it. I really believe that this a great way to get started with lifelong healthy eating strategies.

If paying big bucks for convenience is up your alley, then Jenny Craig is the deal-of-a-lifetime. I became a "Premium" member and was ready to throw in the towel in less than 3 weeks because it was obvious that I wasn't going to want (or need) all of the food that I HAD to buy. But because I didn't call within 3 days of joining (I didn't even get my food within 3 days), I received NO refund ... that's right, I'm out $400!!! The food is decent - MUCH better than Nutrisystem. But the amount of money that it costs (around $500 per month for ONE person) is ridiculous. It's surprising to me that in this current economy, they wouldn't be a little more aware of their costs, but it doesn't appear that their hurting.

I started Jenny Craig after I had already lost 80 lbs, at my highest, I was 345, although everyone said I "carried it well". I worked really hard to get the first 80 off on my own and with a trainer, however I got in a rut after I had major surgery and decided it was time to get some help. That help came via Jenny Craig, since I joined 6 months ago, I've lost 38 lbs, I'll admit I wasn't always on the "straight and narrow" with the program, so even going off 1 or sometimes 2 nights a week, I was able to lose on average over 1.5 lbs a week! The food is fantastic, 10 times better than Nutri System and easier than Weight Watchers. It's actually taught me that I'll be able to do this on my own once I go on maintenance plan. Just DO IT!!!

Hi, I LOVE THIS DIET!!!!! I started Jenny because I am constantly dieting and loosing and gaining all the weight back!!! I started at 150 and it’s been 4 weeks and I’m at 138 which freaking rocks.. I’m a teacher and well I had really bad eating habits with always eating on the go.. Now with jenny I plan and I talk to my consultant and she helps me when I decide to have dinner.. It really isn't pricey if you eat breakfast out and lunch out every day you spent anywhere from 12-17 a day on eating out..... And I spent about 100 dollars a week on 7 days of food and snacks!!! So if you decide to try jenny remember it’s a slow but rewarding process.

I can't believe that a company that charges so much has such lousy customer service. They got my money and sent the food on a Friday. They failed to tell me that there was frozen food on dry ice in the box that would thaw after 7 hours. The box sat on my porch until I arrived home. All the food was thawed out. Inside the box was a notice that the dry ice was only good for 7 hours. Duh! That's a little bit too late. Jenny Craig wouldn't make good the cost of the frozen food. They wouldn't replace the food. They just blew me off! It's unbelievable that in my first order I've been screwed by this company. Stay away from them. They obviously could give a flying **** about their customers.

I was 20-30 lbs overweight so I decided to join JC. I had to pay 400 something $ for the membership plus the cost of one week food $150/week... freaking expensive. I just went in there to inquire but the lady pushed all the papers towards me to sign; I told her that I just wanted to get a quote of how much it will cost me and she said that I have to sign all the papers first and join otherwise she wouldn't be able to tell me the cost of joining the program unless i become a member. I lost 1 lb the first week and the following weeks I was only losing 1-1.5lb and was very frustrated, imagine paying $150 a week to lose a pound??? Such a RIP OFF!!! They weren't very helpful, everytime i go there to pick up my one week supply of food, they just weigh me, give me the food and tell me to buy supplements; like what most people say; they are not certified nutrionists, they're just there to sale food and make a commision... this program sucks!!! I didn't get the support I needed. I lost 2 lbs and $3000........ I could have used all that money to go shopping GRRRRRRRRRRRR or for my beauty school, how stupid... I am never joining any diet programs anymore. The food sucks!!! If you are thinking of joining JC, think a million times, read reviews about it first, get opinions from people that were on it....... and plus who wants to eat from a box every single dayyyyyyy??? The people that work for JC, they are not very educated... the lady that was supposed to be my coach did not know anything and useless!!!

THIS DIET DOES WORK!

I WEIGHED IN AT 179 LBS .

FOUR MONTHS LATER I NOW WEIGH 135LBS

I 100% DID NOT FAIL THIS DIET, I STUCK EXACTLY TO THE RULES AND FOOD!

THIS IS THE ONLY WAY YOU WILL SEE CONSTANT RESULTS SINCE YOU ARE GUARANTEED TO LOSE 1-2 LBS PER WEEK IF YOU 100% STICK TO THE DIET AND NO CHEATING IT!

I NOW AM EXERCISING MORE AND I AM EVEN LOSING MORE WEIGHT :)

ITS VERY TOUGH THE FIRST 2 WEEKS AND THEN ITS EASIER THEN YOU GET A LITTLE HUNGRIER BUT THEY HAVE TIPS AND FOOD ITEMS THAT YOU CAN HAVE WHEN YOU ARE STILL HUNGRY. FOR EXAMPLE YOU HAVE A LIST OF UNLIMITED FOODS SUCH AS: CARROTS, CUCUMBERS ETC.

IF YOU ARE 100% SERIOUS ABOUT LOSING THE WEIGHT, THEN THIS DIET WILL WORK, TAKE IT FROM ME! I AM ALMOST TO MY GOAL WEIGHT, AND ITS ONLY BEEN 4 MONTHS!

WE ALL KNOW AND UNDERSTAND THAT WE DONT NEED THIS SOMEWHAT EXPENSIVE DIET PLACES TO HELP FIX OUR WEIGHT PROBLEMS, I HAPPEN TO BE SOME ONE WHO NEEDS A PLAN WRITTEN DOWN AND FOOD READY FOR ME TO EAT BECAUSE I COULDNT DO THIS BY MYSELF. THEY ARE GOING TO TEACH ME AND WRITE DOWN FOR ME WHAT TO EAT ONCE I AM AT MY GOAL WEIGHT AND STILL HAVE ME COME IN FOR WEEKLY CONSULTATIONS TO MAKE SURE I AM MAINTAINING MY WEIGHT AFTER THIS PROGRAM AND THAT WILL TAKE SLOW STEPS OF GETTING MY BODY OFF THEIR FOOD AND ONTO NORMAL FOODS SLOWLY SO MY BODY DOESNT GO INTO SHOCK. I AM VERY CONFIDENT OF THIS PROCESS AND FEEL LIKE I REALLY UNDERSTAND NOW HOW TO MAINTAIN THIS WEIGHT, I AM EXCITED!

GOOD LUCK TO YOU IF YOU TRY THIS DIET! I KNOW YOU CAN DO IT!

REALITY HERE PEOPLE!! Seriously if you're complaining about spending $120 a week and you are at least 20lbs over weight, you are not being very honest with yourself. That is about $18 dollars a day, do you know how much food you would have to buy in order to maintain the weight you are now and still continue to gain?... a lot people! One coffee from Starbucks... $5 dollars, one fast food meal $6 ok so so far thats $11 now add up all in between, because you know we all do that much most of the time. The problem isn't the cost or the program, it's the fact that you are just not serious about weight loss, and you want any excuse to fail and say you tried so that you really don't have to change. It's a great program if you actually honestly work it and stop blaming the rest of the world and all the programs you've tried and just be honest with yourself. The food is good, the program teaches you how to eat small portions throughout the day and you meet a consultant and weigh in once a week and get whatever questions answered. Yes you have to pay a program cost, but only once and the rest is paying for food once a week that cost about $120 a week... they are a business people, they aren't giving things away. You don't go anywhere and not pay, do you work for free? It's a hard struggle but any program can work if you work it. I've lost 50lbs and I actually saved money on the program because it prevented me from eating out all the time and buying my white chocolate mocha's from Starbucks. So give it a try and make your own decision.

I have been on JC for just over a month and have lost 13lbs. I found this site and when i read some of the few negative reviews I noticed they all claimed that JC was expensive and didnt teach you proper nutrition. My first thought to that is that I think most of us are aware what healthy food is. I am guessing that 99% of the people reviewing JC have also tried countless other plans (myself included) So we all have some basic knowledge of healthy food choices. We all know whole grain is better than refined and that steamed broccoli is a better choice than french fries yadda yadda. DUH!! We know exercise helps shed pounds. I dont need JC to tell me that. Although they did go over all of this at my consultation. Part of the program includes having to prepare your own food a few days a week once you get half way to your goal. They do give you detailed instructions for this.

As for being expensive. I disagree. The program costs me $80 per week and I can tell you that is a lot less than i would spend on groceries for myself for the week. plus I save so much not ordering that calorie filled mocha every morning and eating lunch out everyday.

The reason I love the program is pure convenience. I have two kids a fulltime job and love having my meals prepared instead of starving in the kitchen looking for somthing healthy then realizing it will take me an hour to prepare it therefore opting for 2 of the kids pizza pops.lol

I think that all these diet programs are effective IF they are right for your lifestyle. JC is for me!

I still have another 60 LBS to go but the food is FREEKEN AWSOME!! Unlike other people that say OHHHHHH IT DOESNT TEACH YOU HOW TO EAT BLAH BLAH BLAH, YES IT DOES PEOPLE!! It teaches you how much 1 serving is and how you should eat in those small portions the rest of ur life!! COMMON SENCE PEOPLE!! the ones who gain back are the ones who BINGE after the diet and go back to eating oily, fattly, GINORMOUS portions and dont move!!! Jenny Craig 1

I hate to see people taken advantage of, this is why I am writing this review, the only reason, I promise you.
Are these reviews for real? Or are company reps hacking into the system. This company has LOST many lawsuits (first one in 1997 when they had to admit that most people gained back the weight after ending the diet.
They have had to change spokespeople every couple of months just to keep up their image. This isn't a weight loss solution it is a waste of time and money.
I feel bad for the people who are suckered into believing this system works. Read other website's reviews, they are more accurate.
I'll give you better advice FREE!!!!
GET A WORKOUT/WEIGHTLOSS BUDDY, GET PSYCHED!!!
Every week buy 3 dozen eggs 5 pounds chicken breasts and 5 cans of Tuna ($25) Grill the chicken with spices, eat egg whites only in a nonstick pan with A COATING OF REAL BUTTER, eat tuna out of the can with some pepper. Don't buy potato chips and ice cream, no temptations in the house, make a huge salad every 3 days and buy low calorie dressing (10 calories) or spray dressings, eat atkins bars if you have a sweat tooth. Just use common sense.
Join your local gym ($400 a year or less), spend the money on a quality trainer or make a friend at one of their exercise classes
Take the junk food out of your cabinets and with each one you throw away tell yourself why you want to lose weight. Be serious, specific and thoughtful.
Challenge yourself, it is fun and when you feel hungry think about those around you who will have to take care of you when you have a heart attack or diabettes, think of them crying at night when you are dead or the responsibility you took when you decided to become parents.
Stop listening to these losers, who have a great "PROGRAM"
Jenny is especially a suckers bet and been taking stupid people's money for years
Take responsibilty and use common sense.
Succeed and laugh while you watch Queen Latifah's butt grow bigger
If not, go to your local tattoo parlor and print the word victim on your forehead and sucker on your wallet.
Good luck!

Jenny Craig 3

I just started Jenny Craig on last Wednesday December 10,2008. This is only friday but so far the food is okay. Although a little expensive. The only problem I had was mislead information when joining the program and not being able to see any prices of anything until check out time. That is really bad business, they discuss everything but the prices, and the food is over charged. They will also tell you that the food will cost anywhere from $12.00 to $18.00 a day...This is not true it is more than that and plus you have what is called mandatory items that also cost in addition to your weekly food. I guess in a couple weeks I will be able to see if it is really worth what I was charged. I do plan to follow this plan and do exactly what I am told because with those prices, if you don't lose the weight you might as well help the needy with the funds.
